**What do you like best about HumanIK?**

Autodesk Human IK solution grew out of Motionbuilder's industry standard motion capture efforts. It has grown into a stable, robust, trusted product for creating a control rig, accepting motion capture in various formats (bvh, collada, fbx, etc.) and then retargeting that animation to a custom control rig. Autodesk's panel makes it extremely easy to setup a character skeleton for use with it. In Motionbuilder, it allows the editing and refinement of motion capture data.

**What do you dislike about HumanIK?**

Excellent for motion capture animation, lacks mature and sophistication of custom character control rigs to be considered as a go to solution for day to day character animation. Issues like control of joint orientation on a single axis prevent serious working animators from using it on deadline conscious projects. Lacks facial controls, relying on blendshapes (maya) to handle facial animation. Needs an update to complete with tools such as Advanced Skeleton.

**Recommendations to others considering HumanIK:**

If you plan on integrating motion capture data in your animations or you do not have access to a TD (Or the willingness or time to learn how to make a custom rig, or buy one) then Human IK can give you fast, stable results to get good animation. If you are doing heavyweight keyframe animation though, i'd look into Advanced Skeleton or other solutions.

**What problems is HumanIK solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use of Human IK with motion capture solutions, allows us to easily imprint canned and in studio motion capture files and achieve custom editing, adding nuance and performance to achieve great results in a cost effective timeframe.
