It is difficult to know if we are blocking good traffic. Adding super detailed rules sounds good but then we hear about folks being blocked that shouldn't be. I think it would be best if we had a resource hyper managing the rules and very active in disabling and refining. I don't know that it was clear that we would need that level of care and feeding.
We have also had issues with where to implement Human tools. Our site should not be supporting it, SFCC will no longer host it. Hopefully the cost of hosting on our own cdn will be cost-possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HUMAN Bot Defender is a fantastic tool that is easy to use and easy to implement. Their team is very helpful and has been willing and able to work with us to make sure that HUMAN works with our infrastruture and needs. - Has helped us successfully block many bot attacks and other suspicious spams
- Uses a signature-based detection to block bots instead of hardcoded configs
- Very easy to use and integrate / implement - removes any manual work on my end after the quick set up
- Extremely responsive team that will answer you quickly when you raise questions / issues
- The dashboard is very detailed and gives me useful insights as to where the bots / spams are coming from (eg country, IP address, URLs they are spamming at)

It has help mitigate the malicious traffic to our website which had previously caused issues with fraud on the website and took a lot of team resources to try to resolve. Our account manager / tech lead is also very helpful and nice to work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We had some challenges with the integration at first which left our website vulnerable to a carding attack, even after kicking off the partnership. Our contract was also initially scoped incorrectly which required us to have to pay more for Human Bot Defender than initially quoted and required the contracting process to happen twice. We pretty much use HUMAN Bot Defender as a second firewall. We use AWS WAF already but the granularity of rules is fairly limited and it's difficult to defend effectively against attacks using distributed IPs. HUMAN has a very good rate of identifying malicious requests and also tends to kick in to begin blocking them faster than our WAF does, so it greatly improves our defence against DOS and credential stuffing attacks.
The Analyzer in the console is great, it provides a lot of information about the requests made and it's intuitive to use. It's easy to track down patterns in malicious requests or identify other things eg notice if one of our systems is sending more requests than it should be, etc.
The customer support is also good, HUMAN tend to respond very quickly to queries and will loop in their engineering team when needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be opaque why certain requests are being blocked or allowed and if we have issues with legitimate users being blocked, we generally need to call out HUMAN support team to resolve this; however they are very responsive.
The app integration was complex, it seems that this product isn't yet mature for more obscure tech stacks - eg we use Kotlin Multiplatform for our app and it took a lot of work and back-and-forth to get the integration working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

For our team, Bot Defender's automated analysis and blocking of problematic traffic combined with the quick response we get from our account team when it comes to addressing potential attacks and concerns has made Bot Defender an essential part of our stack protecting our applications. On occasion we have seen some of the automated blocking be overzealous with detecting problems and blocked legitimate traffic. As we don't have insight into all of the automated changes, we had to fall back to our logs to determine something was wrong before we knew enough to bring the issue to our account team to investigate and resolve. The ability to identify traffic to enable us to make decisions is key. However, it rarely needs decisions from us, as we are fairly permissive to traffic. This means we can let run unattended for the most part! And we have not experienced any outages or incidents while relying on it as part of our front end infrastructure. Automated systems that engage with your site can be blocked - including your own developers and test frameworks. This requires some investigation in how to enable internal developers to run automation against the site, which is an additional hurdle to some projects.
