The product is highly customizable and effectively blocks a big part of unwanted traffic with minimal friction for our legitimate customers. Through the Exporter and the development of features like Custom Parameters, it provides deep insights into traffic behavior, and it helped us understand both legitimate users and undesired ones (bots). With this visibility, we’ve even been able to correlate findings with our own application logs and uncover unexplored areas in our systems.

The support team is very competent, always quick to respond, and provides clear and actionable information that helps us better understand the product and fine-tune detections when needed.

Our implementation is quite flexible — we run it both on Kong and Cloudflare — and we’ve never experienced any stability issues over the years. The Analyzer is a great tool, but the fact that it is not real-time and can be quite slow significantly limits how often we use it in practice.

Bot Defender has been a fairly reliable tool for our team. I appreciate its comprehensive filtering capabilities, allowing us to easily search the dashboard by Block ID, IP, User Agent, and more. I've been very impressed with the improvements made over the past year! However, I wish we had access to more historical data. Just today, we needed to access logs older than a few weeks because we added a new

sensitive route. Without historical context for traffic to that endpoint, we were unable to complete our investigation as thoroughly as we would have liked. Extended access to historical logs would be extremely valuable.

Additionally, while search performance has improved drastically over the past year, it can still be slow at times. It is one of the top solutions I've seen in the industry for bot defender. Cloud-native competitors don't have as specialized tools to detect good and bots, which are of special interest for the nature of the company that I work for. From the user experience side, there have been various occasions where I experience double CAPTCHAs or users reporting getting them. It's understandable the first time, but after that it becomes annoying for anyone. From the overall administration side, I understand part of it proprietary information but some rules act as black boxes so it would be nice to have a bit more information about what parameters are being used to detect a specific set of bots.
