## Human Interest Reviews
 ### 1. Good introductory fee schedule

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It is simple to view statements and my account representative was very helpful and responsive.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Need more humans - haha! No really, all these computer applications replaced human interaction. Not warm and fuzzy enough.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have to worry so much about California's mandatory retirement accounts. But this account will be a problem when our introductory fee schedule goes away. It will be too expensive for us. We are very small.

 ### 2. Straightforward to Use, Responsive Support, and Great Pricing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer H. | Controller, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It’s straightforward to use for both the company and employees. Support is available whenever it’s needed, and the pricing is good, too.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Since it doesn’t integrate with our current PEO, there are a few manual processes I don’t care for.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Human Interest, we had almost no 401k participation. Human Interest ensures employees are aware of the benefit and makes the setup easy for them.

 ### 3. Easy Setup, Helpful for Retirement Savings, Needs Better Adviser Response

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Susan F. | Non-Profit Program Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest allows my coworkers and I to save for retirement. We use the dashboards frequently, and I appreciate both the employer and employee dashboards. They give us an overview of what we're spending as employees and as employers, which is really helpful. The initial setup of Human Interest was super easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I'm not impressed with the response time from our adviser. I requested a meeting using their email link, and I was told they would get back to me, but they never did. It would be nice if there were any follow-ups from them.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest solves the problem of organizing a 401(k), allowing my coworkers and me to save for retirement effectively.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm very sorry that you haven't received a response to your inquiries, Susan. This is not the level of service we aim to provide. A member of our Customer Advocacy team will contact you directly to discuss your experience, as we're always looking to improve the customer experience. Thank you for your patience, and we are committed to improving our communication.

 ### 4. Effortless 401k Management with an Intuitive Interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex D. | Accounting Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like how simple and easy the user interface is. I also like being able to quickly see my balance and growth in my 401k account. It’s nice to be able to easily adjust my contribution amount and see how much my employer contributes. I’m a current customer of Human Interest, and I'm writing this review in exchange for a $25 gift card incentive, which creates a material conflict of interest as it creates a financial incentive to write a favorable review.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

It would be nice if there were a mobile app to view and manage things from my phone more easily. Additionally, (this could be the plan I’m on) but it would be nice to have visibility and the ability to manage what my investments.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest effectively manages my 401k and the 401k’s of my co-workers.

Everything is very automated, making it super easy to integrate my 401K savings with my Gusto account, and then Gusto integrates with my FreshBooks, so it's all very seamless. **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I really appreciate their customer service. Every time I've called, I've spoken with someone who's very intelligent and more than willing to go the extra mile to help me with whatever I needed or any questions I had. They explain everything thoroughly and make sure I understand what's going on. Additionally, the integration with QuickBooks is excellent because it simplifies my payroll tasks. The initial setup was unbelievably easy, and the customer service representatives were incredibly helpful, as were the account managers.

nothing, I love it

 ### 8. Best benefit team I have worked with.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Our rep Amber Wilson for introductions to our clients has been incredible to work with. Transitions from other plans to Human Interest went seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Not a dislike but a frustration was trying to setup an introduction straight from our payroll software to get someone in touch with our client. The person who responded did not at all understand I was trying to get them in touch with the client versus reaching out myself on behalf of the client to get it all going. When we initiate it through Gusto as the payroll provider, in the past there has been a money incentive for getting clients/employers set up. The option didn't work so I had to reach out to the rep to handle which forfeits my incentive.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is nice that they take on all aspects of contacting employees and contributions.

 ### 9. Easy to Use AI Tool with Top-Notch Support and Great Integrations

From my point of view, there isn’t much that needs improving.

I really appreciate how Human Interest makes it easy to contribute to my 401k from both the employer and employee side. I like the customer service, even though I haven't had to use it much because they are very informative. The on-hands customer service that I have received though has been above and beyond. The initial setup was very easy, and even when I switched from QuickBooks to Gusto for my payroll provider, although that switch was a bit complex, the customer service was amazing and made it really easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I don’t have any dislikes!

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest makes it really easy to contribute to my 401(k) from both the employer and employee sides.

 ### 16. Effortless 401K Management with Seamless Payroll Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah P.

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I appreciate how Human Interest makes overseeing our 401K program easy by handling regulation oversight to ensure everything runs properly. The integration with our Gusto payroll software is seamless, saving time and reducing the chances of errors. The initial setup was very simple and quick. We switched from Invesco to Human Interest because it was too hard to enter transactions in Invesco.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I'm not happy that the invoicing doesn't match up to the Gusto journal entry, which doubles the expenses until I can correct the duplications. Also, Gusto enters the 401K employee deferral and the employer safe harbor amounts on separate lines, but the invoices come through as a full amount. Another thing is that the fees are still high for a small business. Understandable, but high.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Human Interest makes overseeing our 401K program easy, handling regulation oversight effectively. The integration with Gusto saves time and minimizes errors by seamlessly transferring information.

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I really like how Human Interest sends me email reminders for tasks until they are completed, which ensures I don't forget anything. I also don't have to worry about any end-of-year compliance tasks. The onboarding process for new employees and annual changes are handled smoothly. It saves me a lot of time by taking away all the compliance worry and the knowledge needed to complete those tasks. Keeping the plan compliant is almost effortless, even for a team of over 100 employees. I appreciate that it's integrated with our HR and payroll software, Gusto, which made the initial setup almost effortless.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Nothing.

It integrates well with Payroll and is easy to use for both employees and employers. It also keeps costs low for employers and offers employees a wide range of investing options.

 ### 22. Effortlessly Integrates 401k Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I really like that Human Interest is integrated with our payroll software, making it very easy to manage. It provides a simple solution for offering a 401k plan to our employees. I also appreciate the automation, as information is shared automatically. Setting up Human Interest was very easy too.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

When a new employee is created in my payroll software, it automatically creates an employee in Human Interest. That's fine, but it gives even the new staff benefit options that are not available to them yet so I have to remember to change their status.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest simplifies offering a 401k plan to employees and seamlessly integrates with our payroll software, making management easy with lots of automation.

 ### 23. Human Interest was a good move for my company.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

There’s no phone number to call for support. However, they typically respond within 24 hours by email, and I can usually schedule time with my account manager within 3–5 business days.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an HR team of one administering our 401(k), I really appreciate how self-service the website is for employees. Now that the migration is complete and the account audits are accurate, I don’t have to spend nearly as much time assisting people, which has made my day-to-day work much easier.

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It was relatively easy to set up (with their help) and is automated. The UI is also easy to navigate.

The whole 401(k) management process is very simple, and each employee can choose their contribution in their portfolio. The initial setup was easy and fast, which I was happy with.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The only thing maybe that was not always 100% clear for me was the date of the invoicing of the cost. And the second point was for the first payroll and the first deduction, there was a small glitch because of a delay in the payroll.

 ### 30. Effortless 401(k) Management with Intuitive Platform and Transparent Fees

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris H. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Human Interest has made managing our company retirement plan straightforward and efficient. As an employer, I regularly use the platform to oversee our 401(k) for the team, and I find it very intuitive and easy to navigate. The automated payroll integrations save a considerable amount of time with each pay cycle, and both employees and administrators remain well-informed through clear dashboards and timely reminders. I also value the transparent fee structure and the dedicated support provided during onboarding.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Setting up the platform for our company took more time than we anticipated, and a few of the onboarding steps could have been explained more clearly. Additionally, I feel that the reporting features would benefit from greater customization, particularly for employers interested in analyzing contribution trends or exporting more detailed plan data. That said, after the initial setup was complete, the platform has been easy and smooth to use.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest has enabled us to provide a competitive 401(k) plan without the usual administrative hassle or high expenses associated with traditional providers. Previously, managing retirement benefits seemed complex and took up a lot of time, but now, every step—from enrollment to payroll deductions—is automated and runs smoothly. The platform also takes care of compliance and fiduciary duties, which gives us confidence that everything is being managed correctly. Because of this, our employees now have improved access to retirement savings options, and we've noticed greater engagement and satisfaction throughout our team.

 ### 31. Detailed Educational Seminars, But Lacks Robust Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hiroko G. | Head of Finance & Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I really appreciate Human Interest for its focus on employee education, particularly the detailed orientation seminar. It's great that the power of compounding interest was communicated clearly.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The enrollment steps were not too clear; onboarding staff was missing in action. There was poor communication, with no responses provided after multiple emails were sent out, and when a response finally came, it was just to inform that somebody else would be handling it.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for admin stuff, and I appreciate the employee education, especially the detailed orientation seminar that clearly communicates the power of compounding interest.

 ### 36. The best way to get a 401(k) program up and running in an efficient way. Outstanding Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob K. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

As a small start up, having the ability to offer a 401(k) plan to attract employees is vital. There were not many options in this space that made it so seamless and easy to not only set up, but manage the plan. Their UX/UI was carefully crafted and makes adding this benefit for employees not a drain on time and resources of management. They are very hands on when needed, providing updates and tasks required. The platform is simple to use and easy for employees to sign up, modify, and even rollover if they leave and decide to make a change. The support and team are top notch and have always followed up on anything that needed a deeper dive for an employee.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I'm sitting here, trying to think of the downsides of using Human Interest or something I dislike. There is nothing I can think of other than maybe a branding name change. I do have to explain that Human Interest is the 401(k) plan, as most people are used to seeing Fidelity, Vanguard etc. The name comes across to some as a social cause or way to do charitable donations.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I was a start up, there were not many options to be able to offer a 401(k) plan at an affordable cost to our team. Human Interest solved that problem with simplicity and an incredible platform. Without Human Interest, employees would only be able to contribute to an IRA or Roth with contribution limits significantly lower than what the 401(k) provides. It also keeps us competitive when recruiting employees.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest is automated, so I don't have to do anything except run payroll. It makes the whole process much easier. The initial setup was also easy, which I really appreciate because it saved me time and hassle.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The first payroll that I ran, they made a mistake and deducted my 401k from the check. The more details are that they took money out of my check, and it was never deposited into the 401k. It wasn't a serious issue, but it was annoying.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for 401(k) services. The automation means I only need to run payroll, simplifying my tasks.

I find Human Interest to be simple to use, which is a significant advantage as it allows us to get all of our team members eligible for the 401(k) plan efficiently. The integration with Gusto is seamless, making the entire process hassle-free and straightforward. This ease of use is one of the standout features for me and my team. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy, which was a relief and allowed us to transition smoothly without any complications.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I don't like that when I signed up for Human Interest, I was told it would be a zero-cost service forever, but now there is a cost involved. This change in pricing is disappointing.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for an easy, low-cost 401k solution. It integrates smoothly with Gusto, simplifying setup and ensuring all team members are eligible.

 ### 43. Seamless 401k Setup Experience

The interface is easy to use and understand.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I have not experienced anything negative.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were using another service that constantly made errors, then tried to charge a fee to fix the errors they created. Human interest is not doing that, which is by far the greatest benefit to peace to mind.

 ### 44. Effortless 401(k) Management with Seamless Integration and Transparent Pricing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tatiana H. | Director of Human Resources, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Human Interest provides a user-friendly platform that is easy for both administrators and employees to navigate. Setting up plans, enrolling participants, and tracking contributions are all straightforward processes, and the dashboard is designed to keep information clear and well-organized. A major benefit is the automated administration—integrations with payroll systems such as Rippling, Gusto, and ADP greatly reduce manual tasks, as contributions, deductions, and compliance filings are synced automatically. The pricing structure is transparent, and the fees are lower than those of many traditional 401(k) providers, making it a cost-effective choice for small and mid-sized businesses. Employees have access to intuitive tools that let them manage their contributions, monitor investment performance, and access educational resources directly from the platform. Human Interest also stands out for its compliance support, taking care of responsibilities like 5500 filings and nondiscrimination testing, which would otherwise burden HR or Finance teams, thus saving time and reducing risk. Finally, the onboarding process is smooth and well-supported, with clear guidance throughout implementation to ensure everything is set up seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

One aspect where Human Interest could enhance its service is in customer support and post-implementation communication. Although response times from support are occasionally prompt, there are instances of delays, especially after the onboarding process when clients move from having a dedicated representative to general support. The platform is intentionally designed for ease of use, which works well for simple plans, but it may seem limiting for organizations with more complex requirements, such as custom eligibility rules, unique vesting schedules, or the need to manage multiple entities. Following implementation, the ongoing communication and relationship management can feel insufficient, leaving some users wishing for more consistent support as their company’s needs change.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest addresses a major challenge faced by small and mid-sized companies: making it straightforward and affordable to offer a 401(k) plan without the usual administrative hassle. By automating tasks such as payroll integration, contributions, and compliance filings, they have removed much of the manual, time-consuming work that often burdens HR and Finance teams. The platform streamlines plan setup, maintains regulatory compliance, and gives employees an easy way to manage their retirement savings. Personally, this has allowed me to dedicate more time to strategic People Operations projects instead of dealing with paperwork or coordinating between different vendors. It has also boosted employee engagement, as staff can conveniently view and manage their investments through a user-friendly dashboard, making retirement benefits feel accessible and worthwhile rather than overwhelming.
