## Human Interest Reviews
 ### 1. Takes the headache out of setting up a small business 401(k)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It’s easy to use and integrates well with the platforms we already use (Gusto and Quickbooks). Support has always been prompt, and the pricing has been straightforward. The program runs smoothly and performs exactly as it should. The intelligence in investments takes the guesswork out and makes the process feel much more clear.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I wish it provided more education to me on the "why" behind the investments. I also wish there was more active participation from my relationship manager. In fact I think my relationship manager changed and they didn't inform me.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allowed me to provide important benefits for my employees. I cherish my employees and want to provide the best benefits I can. It assists with rollovers so it took that completely off of my plate.

 ### 2. Simple 401k manager with low cost for small businesses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Relatively streamlined onboarding process. Lowest total plan cost to our company and employees, though there are several competitive options that may scale better and provide more features. Integrated with Gusto.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Not enough available funds for my preference. I think they balance everything internally if you go with their recommended distribution but wish a target date QDIA were clearer (or available) on the employee end. It took a couple phone calls to make sure the funding was happening correctly. The fee structure won't let us scale well with them, but they are a good choice for how small we are. The marketing team felt like they skirted some of my rather technical questions (probably just didn't know).

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing a 401k plan for our engineering employees.

 ### 3. Smooth 401k Provider Transition Made Easy -

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniella P. | Operations Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Transitioning from our previous 401k provider was so easy!

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Lack of dedicated customer support and challenging to toggle back and forth between

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We’ve had a positive experience working with Human Interest as our 401(k) provider. The platform is user-friendly and makes it easy for both administrators and employees to manage contributions, track performance, and stay informed about their retirement savings.

From an administrative perspective, onboarding and plan setup were straightforward, and ongoing management has been efficient. The integration with payroll systems has helped streamline processes and reduce manual work.

Their customer support team has been responsive and helpful when questions arise, and they provide clear guidance on compliance-related matters, which is especially valuable.

Overall, Human Interest offers a modern, accessible 401(k) solution that balances ease of use with solid functionality for growing teams.

 ### 4. Great 401k Management, But Support Needs Work

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer C. | Executive Director, Veterinary, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest makes it easy for my employees to change their enrollments and view their accounts. It simplifies these processes because they do not have to reach out to me to ask how to do these tasks; they can easily access it themselves.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I have had issues with communication with support. There have been weird glitches, I have been given conflicting information from different support members, and it was difficult to get started. I am hoping those issues resolve as our account settles.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for 401k plan implementation and management. It makes it easy for my employees to change their enrollments and view their accounts, so they don't need to contact me for help.

 ### 5. Simplified 403(b) Setup with Payroll Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan C. | Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like the integration with the payroll system because it means I don't have to do additional work with new employees that are hired. The initial setup was easy too, as you guys have API access to benefits or TriNet, which really simplifies things.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I would ideally like to have my employees be automatically set up in Roth instead of the standard retirement accounts. I believe people that are part-time should not be qualified or if they're working less than the five hundred hours, for a nonprofit, they shouldn't be included in those programs. I've seen that occur with some employees who are now it'd be mean for me to pull back that benefit on a part-timer, but they should never have been set up in the first place.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for retirement benefits for my employees. The integration with the payroll system means I don't have to do additional work with new hires.

 ### 6. Effortless Setup, Great Returns, but Costly for Small Teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | Co-Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like Human Interest because it's incredibly simple to set up and manage. As a busy business owner, I don't have the time for complex setups, and with Human Interest, I could do everything online without needing to talk to anyone. The integration with Gusto, our payroll provider, made the setup even easier. The fact that I can easily log in, check my portfolio's performance, and make adjustments quickly is great. I'm also really happy with the portfolio's current performance, seeing around 20% returns. I appreciate that I can choose between aggressive or conservative investment options, and Human Interest will automatically adjust my investments. Overall, it’s very easy to use, and you don’t need a lot of financial background to understand it.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

My biggest complaint with Human Interest is the price. We're a small company with only three employees currently enrolled in the plan. The fact that we have to pay a set base amount every month no matter the size of our company isn't ideal because it almost penalizes smaller companies with fewer employees as we're not able to spread that base monthly cost across the entire team. That's the only negative thing I have about Human Interest right now.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for its simplicity in setting up and managing retirement accounts without needing financial expertise. It integrates with Gusto, making setup easy for my team, and allows me to manage my 401(k) investments effortlessly.

 ### 7. Easy setup, friendly reps, harder to connect with a human once set-up

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The set up was relatively easy and straightforward. Accessing the site is also pretty easy

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

It is harder than I expected to speak with a human. When I do get through the person I speak with (who is always very nice) doesn't always know the answer. They tend to provide an answer anyway and twice that person has had to email me back to correct the answer they provided.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We did not have a 401K program and now we do. Hopefully Human Interest will also be able to help us expand our offering and change our match in 2027

 ### 8. Reliable Automation with Room for Improved Support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The platform is highly user-friendly and intuitive. I appreciate its hands-off approach, particularly the automation of the 401(k) plan, which simplifies administration and improves overall efficiency.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I have been disappointed with the level of support provided after the initial 401(k) plan setup. As an employer, I have experienced delays of several days without receiving a response. When a response is eventually provided, it often involves scheduling additional time rather than addressing the issue directly. The support process does not feel particularly hands-on or proactive.

Currently, I am attempting to resolve what could be a significant misallocation of funds. Despite submitting all requested information promptly, it has been over a week without any meaningful update. This lack of timely communication and resolution has been frustrating.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest is currently implementing an integration between payroll and benefits to enable automated deposits. This enhancement is highly beneficial, as it eliminates the need to issue and mail manual checks while also improving processing speed.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm sorry that your issues have not been resolved promptly. We would love to speak about your situation in more detail but we are unable to identify you. For security purposes, please follow these steps: after logging in, click Support at the top of your dashboard and request for your case to be escalated in the chat.

 ### 9. Easy 401K Management with Reliable Returns

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I use Human Interest for managing my 401K program at my company. I find it very customer friendly as it makes it easy to understand what's happening with my investments. They have also demonstrated an ability to produce a healthy return even in a turbulent market. I value receiving a good return on investment and appreciate that they make informed decisions behind the scenes based on my tolerance and risk levels. The initial setup was very easy too.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I'd like to know if all of my employees are taking advantage of the program and getting quarterly reports emailed to me would be nice as opposed to having to login and check on things. It would be nice to have the ability to designate different accounts for different employees in terms of what the company portion is each month.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for managing my 401K program, helping with active money management, seamless employee enrollment, and informed investment decisions based on risk tolerance.

 ### 10. User-Friendly Platform for 401(k) Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Iya L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest allows me to log in and see the status of everyone's account and their contributions. It provides me with visibility over the accounts, ensuring everyone is on track to do the right thing. Plus, the initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I think I would like an email each month with a status update so I can get that directly in my inbox.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest to provide 401(k) plans for my employees, allowing them to manage their accounts easily. It also gives me visibility over everyone's accounts to ensure they are on track.

 ### 11. Overall good but a few frustrations.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Onboarding was fairly straightforward, utilization hasn't required a lot.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The team introduction session didn't match the level of knowledge about 401k savings that my team had - meaning a more straightforward explanation of what it is, what it does, how it works as a starting point would have been helpful. The fees initially explained to me turned out not to be correct. It feels the requirements of me as the plan contact on the company end were not fully explained upfront.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can offer 401k plans to our staff with someone else managing the back end keeping things legal. As a small organization without a dedicated HR department, we have not previously felt we had the capacity to figure out how to set up and/or to administer a 401k offering.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share constructive feedback. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the onboarding experience and we appreciate your input on what we can improve. We are always looking to enhance our customer experience.

 ### 12. Modern UI and Robust Support Enhance Our 401K Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob W. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I use Human Interest for my company's 401K program, and I find the modern UI to be my favorite feature. It allows me to navigate, view data and reports easily, helping me understand what my money is doing. The ability to add employees to the program and edit their features, like percentage contributions, without needing to make multiple calls to customer support or send numerous unresolved emails is a huge advantage. The robust support network and the ability to view different datasets on demand help shape our decisions effectively. The initial setup process was very easy; I just filled out a questionnaire, and it went live shortly after.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I didn't want to have to pay fees on it. The fees I pay mean that all of my interest earned isn't putting me personally ahead of the game for a long while.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest has a modern UI and robust support, allowing me to navigate, view data and reports easily. I can add employees and manage contributions without repeated calls and unresolved emails, which is a huge improvement over our previous provider.

 ### 13. Streamlined 401K Management but Needs More Investment Options

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that the web portal of Human Interest is nice, and there are a bunch of funds to choose from. Setting up a new employee is also easy, and I can direct them to the web portal where they can select from the variety of funds.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Having an app would be great, and I've had complaints about the number of funds to choose from, specifically ETFs and NASDAQ.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest simplifies managing our 401K plan. The web portal is nice, and it makes setting up new employees easy by letting them choose from a variety of funds.

 ### 14. Super Quick Setup, Seamless 401k Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like the seamless implementation process of Human Interest. It was super quick, taking only about two days, which wasn't administrative or time-consuming. The quick turnaround and installation were great because there wasn't a lot of manual labor, time, or attention required. Another thing I really appreciate is the great offer we received, which gives us access to this vendor for two years for free. This is really helpful for us as an early-stage tech startup since it was great not to put out too much cash upfront.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

No dislikes to share at this time

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest solves the problem of automatic 401(k) contributions for employees with minimal administrative burden. It integrates seamlessly with our HR system, Gusto, making it easy to review eligible employees.

 ### 15. Great for Tracking, But Navigation Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Package/Freight Delivery | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I find it very useful that it can keep track of who has enrolled and who has rejected. The ability to manage everything at a glance, with information organized in easily readable lists, is excellent. The times I've had to call support, the issues were generally handled within a few days. I am kept up to date on any changes with empolyees.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Whenever I navigate back from a page, it sends me all the way to the beginning instead of just going back one step. This can be quite frustrating, as I end up having to click the same buttons repeatedly. Had to call support for an issue that should never have been an issue. They didn't even know anything was wrong. Sometimes the emails can be a bit much. It would be better to send one out a day for any employees who have left the company rather than individually.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

keeps things orderly and I can answer any questions my employees have.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share constructive feedback. I'm sorry that your issues have not been resolved promptly. We would love to speak about your situation in more detail but we are unable to identify you. For security purposes, please follow these steps: after logging in, click Support at the top of your dashboard and request for your case to be escalated in the chat.

 ### 16. Effortless 401k Setup with Great Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I really appreciate that I've been able to reach out to our account manager for any questions. The account managers we've had have been helpful and responsive. The initial setup was super easy because it was integrated with Gusto.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

There has been some confusion about the nature of our plan. For example, we are supposed to be on basic match starting in 2026, but it looks like the team from Human Interest is having trouble finding out why we're not on that plan currently. In general, 401k compliance can be a tricky and confusing thing. I think there's still room to improve how they communicate plan details, especially as they relate to compliance (top heavy testing, safe harbor, etc.).

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest allowed us to have a 401k plan, helping our company to grow. The setup was super easy with Gusto integration, and the account managers are helpful and responsive.

 ### 17. Effortless Setup, Supportive Guidance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like Human Interest for the ease of setting up and the ease of being able to contact people. The people who contacted me to set up Human Interest actually assisted with the whole process and walked me through thoroughly. This helped me, as the executive administrator, to not have a lot of work to do.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The program used for billing to actually take money out isn't working well, as I haven't been able to contact them as easily.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest provides investment options; its setup is easy, with support that reduces my workload as an executive administrator.

 ### 18. Seamless Paylocity Integration with Easy, Accurate Updates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It integrates really well with Paylocity and makes it easy to ensure employees have the correct amounts deducted and that the employer match is accurate. I receive emails whenever there are changes I need to review, and those updates are straightforward to make. Updating information is also very easy. When I add an employee in Paylocity or make changes to their employee profile, it shows up in Human Interest very quickly and notifies me so I know there are changes to review.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

At this time, I don’t have any dislikes about Human Interest.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No specific issues to report. Human Interest is allowing us to offer a benefit we haven’t been able to offer before, and our employees seem to really appreciate it. That likely explains why most of our eligible employees have signed up.

 ### 19. Extremely Easy to Use, but Live Support Would Be Better

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that the portal is extremely easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

That if I have a question I have to use an AI bot, and then if that doesn't answer it sends an email to support. I wish it could connect me with a live agent to assist.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I aready had a 401k plan before Human Interest, so I cannot think of any other solutions it's assisting with.

 ### 20. Reliable Service That Supports My Financial Goals

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samson T. | Director, Finance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I’m a current customer of Human Interest, and I'm writing this review in exchange for a $25 gift card incentive, which creates a material conflict of interest as it creates a financial incentive to write a favorable review.

Human Interested provides a very simple onboarding processes that enables us to quickly select, set and forget our 401k investments. The tools to adjust contribution to do it by % or $ is easy to use and switch up as needed, and they offer a wide variety of investment options based on my risk tolerance. They translate scenarios to actual financial tolerance investment profiles so you don't need to be super financial savy to move forward.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I’m a current customer of Human Interest, and I'm writing this review in exchange for a $25 gift card incentive, which creates a material conflict of interest as it creates a financial incentive to write a favorable review.

In my experience, Human Interest is a fairly straightforward platform. However, I feel it lacks options for personalization and the ability to select individual stocks. I also find that the portfolio does not offer complete transparency regarding which stocks, bonds, ETFs, and other assets our investments are allocated to. Because of this, I have to place a certain level of trust in the company.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m a current customer of Human Interest, and I'm writing this review in exchange for a $25 gift card incentive, which creates a material conflict of interest as it creates a financial incentive to write a favorable review.

Overall, Human Interest is making my investment journey seamless, especially with my employer running the integration. I can easily manage my 401k contributions and know that my pre-tax dollars are working for me without major oversight.

 ### 21. Easy 401(k) Administration With Pricing and Increases that Have Been Tough for Our Small Business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It’s been extremely easy to administer for our company, and it’s also straightforward to navigate as a user. The rollover from my previous IRA was seamless, and the investment options are solid. As the administrator, I get an email notification with every payroll, so I don’t have to go searching for the amounts we need for bookkeeping.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

We’re a very small company, and the fees are borderline difficult for us to manage. I’m also unclear why we have to pay the rollover fee every month. On top of that, we’re still paying for past employees, and I wish there were a way to encourage them to roll over their accounts to their new companies. After I talked our company owner into keeping Human Interest and justified the cost, our costs increased, and I’m worried that could keep happening.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had previously offered our employees a SEP IRA but knew that a 401k was a more desirable option so we switched. Unfortunately due to the economy downturn we have downsized and are not hiring in the near future so while our current employees are happy to have it, we can't use it to attract new talent right now.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> Thank you for sharing this feedback. We would love to speak about your situation in more detail but we are unable to identify you. For security purposes, please follow these steps: after logging in, click Support at the top of your dashboard and request for your case to be escalated in the chat.

 ### 22. Easy Employee Interface and Low Fees, but Limited Investments and Some Support Challenges

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The ease of interface for employees is amazing and the low fees are a huge plus.
The integration with Quickbooks was a major factor in both compliance and ongoing support.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

It can be difficult to handle questions and to interface with customer support. There isn't as many investment options as some employees would prefer.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest helps to connect our payroll with our 401k solution, without costing a lot of money and all while making our employee's experience relatively simple.

 ### 23. Effortless Setup and Excellent Employee Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest makes it easy to provide retirement benefits for employees, even though we're a small business. It's very easy to set up, which I appreciate, and from an administrative point of view, it was straightforward. The employees found it fairly easy to establish their accounts, and they reported having an excellent experience utilizing the options available. Additionally, the investment choices available to the employees were robust and sufficient.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Would say the only thing would be to get lower cost.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest enabled us to provide retirement benefits for employees even though we are a small business. It was very easy to set up, and our employees found it easy to establish their accounts with robust and sufficient investment choices.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I find Human Interest easy for onboarding people, giving them flexible options to manage their personal accounts. The administrator dashboard lets me easily see who's participating and allows me to answer any questions our employees may have. I don't have to spend a lot of time managing our 401(k) benefits because Human Interest does much of the work for me. It's also relatively turnkey, integrating easily with my HR platform and requiring no manual data entry.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Sometimes I feel it's a little difficult to connect directly with a human being if I have any questions or concerns. But in the cases that I have needed to reach out, the customer service reps that have responded to me via chat or email have always been helpful and have been able to answer any problems I had to my satisfaction.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest to easily onboard employees to our 401k, giving them low-cost fund options and self-management. It integrates with my HR platform, so I don't manually enter data.

**Official Response from Tarik Covington:**

> Hi there, we are very appreciative of the feedback that you provided. We are glad to see that our platform has been able to support your growth. We aim to make our platform very easy to implement and administer for our customers. Thank you for choosing Human Interest!

 ### 25. Effortless 401(k) Administration, But Needs Better Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer B. | Director of People Operations

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest is very easy to use, especially as an administrator. It's pretty much hands-free from my perspective, and if I need to verify things or have questions, I can usually find the answers once I log in to the website. I also appreciate that it integrates well with our HRIS and payroll system, making the initial setup pretty easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Their customer service is quite weak. There are many times when we need to actually speak with a human, and it is hard to get through to someone on the phone. Often, it takes many calls and many weeks to get something resolved.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Human Interest easy to use with seamless integration into our HRIS and payroll. It’s mostly hands-free, and I can verify things easily online. However, customer service needs improvement, as it's difficult to reach a human and resolution can take weeks.

 ### 26. Effective 401k Service with Room for Integration Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica V. | Private Practice Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest cared about me both as a consumer of their products and as an employer. Even when I was considering leaving, they came to the table and wanted to keep my business. The integration with my payroll provider is helpful and allows me to save money for my future. The initial setup was also very easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

A piece that I don't like is that in the future, it's not going to integrate as well with my payroll provider. Due to Gusto buying Guideline and becoming one company, they're no longer serving Human Interest in the same way.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest integrates with my payroll provider and helps me save money for my future.

 ### 27. Good introductory fee schedule

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It is simple to view statements and my account representative was very helpful and responsive.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Need more humans - haha! No really, all these computer applications replaced human interaction. Not warm and fuzzy enough.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have to worry so much about California's mandatory retirement accounts. But this account will be a problem when our introductory fee schedule goes away. It will be too expensive for us. We are very small.

 ### 28. Easy Setup, Helpful for Retirement Savings, Needs Better Adviser Response

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Susan F. | Non-Profit Program Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest allows my coworkers and I to save for retirement. We use the dashboards frequently, and I appreciate both the employer and employee dashboards. They give us an overview of what we're spending as employees and as employers, which is really helpful. The initial setup of Human Interest was super easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I'm not impressed with the response time from our adviser. I requested a meeting using their email link, and I was told they would get back to me, but they never did. It would be nice if there were any follow-ups from them.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest solves the problem of organizing a 401(k), allowing my coworkers and me to save for retirement effectively.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

A member of our Customer Advocacy team will contact you directly to discuss your experience, as we're always looking to improve the customer experience. Thank you for your patience, and we are committed to improving our communication.

I like how simple and easy the user interface is. I also like being able to quickly see my balance and growth in my 401k account. It’s nice to be able to easily adjust my contribution amount and see how much my employer contributes. I’m a current customer of Human Interest, and I'm writing this review in exchange for a $25 gift card incentive, which creates a material conflict of interest as it creates a financial incentive to write a favorable review.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

It would be nice if there were a mobile app to view and manage things from my phone more easily. Additionally, (this could be the plan I’m on) but it would be nice to have visibility and the ability to manage what my investments.

 ### 38. Effortless Setup with Excellent Support

The operational differences and the automation of the payroll process are significant benefits. Also, the initial setup was very easy.

 ### 40. User-Friendly 401k Management Tool with Effective Notifications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elexus H.

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like how Human Interest helps me contribute the amounts per employee and notifies me when people's information isn't correct. It also lets me know each time as an employee when my money is going into my personal account, and I love that. I like how easy it is to navigate and use; it's really simple and straightforward. I also love being able to send notices via email all in one spot. Additionally, the setup was easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

If someone wants to opt out of it, it should be easier than me having to have them sign a form and contacting support. Not everyone is tech savvy, and I like to make processes easy for everyone.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest helps me manage 401k contributions per employee, alerts me to information errors, and notifies me about my funds, making the whole process seamless.

 ### 41. Helpful 401(k) Setup and Rollover Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher C. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Setting up a 401(k) has a surprising amount of legal complexity and HI helped us navigate it pretty quickly. The onboarding specialist was able to field all of my difficult questions. As an owner and employee, I was pleased with the rollover support when things went askew with my previous provider.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Let me first say that Human Interest seems to do the hard things well.

While HI offers many investment options, your particular business may be too small to access many of them due to minimum investment sizes. This is not a Human Interest policy so no other provider is going to be able to do any better for you. I would have liked to have seen the number of choices immediately suitable for us as most fund minimums are either $3,000 or $50,000 and not in between so it should not be too challenging to find this number. Initially we were given an incorrect list of investments and so after researching and making selections were told none of the options were available, which I found a little frustrating.

But these two problems are related and could both be solved with a simple tool inside the platform which would show you available investments filtered by fund minimums. Then, allow that to populate any paperwork required instead of me copying and pasting it manually.

This is a rather minor product improvement for them that I would expect them to get to eventually.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted to offer a full-featured 401(k) plan to our small business of <10 employees. HI fits the bill.

 ### 42. Friendly and easy to navigate Website

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luz T. | HR Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I appreciate how easy it is to navigate their website.Communiction with emails

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The only issue we’ve encountered so far is that email communication about our new services with them has been quite slow. I wish we had more direct ways to chat with their associates.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

 ### 43. Effortless 401k Setup and Seamless HRIS Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim F.

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I use Human Interest for our staff's 401k, and I'm really pleased with how it seamlessly integrates with our HRIS and Payroll Service, BambooHR. As a small team, the ease of integration was crucial since we don't have the bandwidth to manage a 401k's complexities. The setup with BambooHR felt like a 'one-click' process, and the team made sure the onboarding was seamless and without issues. Their communication and processes were clear, making the initial setup very easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

One area that could be improved is the 'opt-out' option for employees during onboarding - for some, the steps were confusing, resulting in them essentially 'opting-in' to the 401K, but setting their contribution at 'zero'. There's no material difference to employees monetarily, or with us and our pricing, but it led to some confusion and concern as to whether they had selected a 401k when they didn't intend to.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest provided us with our first 401k solution. It integrates seamlessly with BambooHR and our HRIS, making setup feel like 'one-click.' It was crucial for our small team because we lack the bandwidth to manage a 401k's nuances.

 ### 44. Easy Benefits Management for Small Teams, with Less HR Overhead

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It makes it easy for a very small organization like ours to offer this benefit to employees. It also cuts down on the need for in-house, HR-specific expertise and reduces the administrative time required to manage it.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

It is hard to juggle this with our other benefit providers and know which is managing what or who to contact when issues arise.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If we didn't have Human Interest, I don't know how we would offer investing benefits to our employees.

 ### 45. Empowers Employees to Save for the Future

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Giving employees the opportunity to save for their future.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I didn’t like that an automatic percentage was taken out of the employee’s paycheck before they were able to sign up for the service.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like that it gives employees the option to save for retirement.

 ### 46. Seamless Payroll Integration, But Needs Better Issue Alerts

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebbie H.

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like the seamless integration of wage and contribution and matching information from our payroll provider to Human Interest. It's able to match with our payroll system to fund our employee's retirement accounts with employee contributions and employer match. Setting up 403(b)s and 401(k)s isn't trivial, but Human Interest made it pretty clear and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

We had two payrolls in a row where Human Interest didn't take or accept the information from our payroll provider. It just didn't fund our accounts, and we didn't know about it until we discovered it. They didn't alert us to the problem, and over a month later, they finally did fund our accounts, but I had to get intervention from our payroll provider, send several emails to our Dedicated Account Manager without response, reached out to general support, and have yet to receive any explanation or assurance that this won't happen again. The only reason I know they resolved their failed contributions is the auto-emails about accounts being funded. I can't tell if they've made up the missing investment time to our employee's accounts.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest matches with our payroll system to fund employee retirement accounts with employee contributions and employer match.

 ### 47. Effortless Onboarding, Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nacho M. | COO / CFO Fractional Executive & Consultant

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I really like working with Human Interest because the team was very helpful during the initial onboarding and tool setup. It integrates well with our HRIS system and Rippling, which makes the entire process seamless. I don't even have to think about it, it just works. Setting up was very easy, which was great since it's our first time setting up a company 401(k) plan.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Nothing so far

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for setting up our 401(k) plan. It's great because it makes onboarding and tool setup easy and integrates well with our HRIS, Rippling.

 ### 48. Great 401(k) Value, But Customer Service Can Be Hard to Reach

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gavin S. | Chief Executive Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The value of the 401k is definitely high. We were paying 4-5X for the same service through another payroll company.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Customer service could be better. You call in and wait and can never talk to who you need. Typical.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This service meets our need for 401(k) support for our employees.

 ### 49. Easy, Simple Platform Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars
