## Human Interest Reviews
  ### 1. No Communication and lack of care brings cause for concern and lack of trust and security

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

That Human Interest Integrates with my payroll company

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

When changes are made such as the 2.0 Act, I received an agreement to sign with no communication as to what exactly is changing and if or how it affects our company. When I was approached by Jan Russell to switch to your company, a lot of what Jan sold us on and stated was inaccurate or she failed to mention you offer certain things but at an additional cost. Also once I was transitioned into your company, I was never contacted by the person who handles our company 401K needs to introduce themselves, they never check in or as I stated they should pick up the phone an explain changes that will be taking place and go over those changes and then send in writing a follow email to ensure our understanding. The company I was with prior July services, was way more involved and I could actually speak with a person. Your company comes across as though you don't want to have communication at all with your customers.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 2. Challenging Setup, Limited Support Response

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jen N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I find Human Interest easy to use for our employees. From an administrator's perspective, it's crucial that the tool is easy to set up, especially for younger employees or people who aren't financially well-versed. I appreciate that the platform is intuitive and easy to understand. I also like that users can log in to their dashboard and update their settings on their own without having to go through myself or an adviser.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

From an administrator perspective, everything has been pretty challenging. We received no individual setup assistance and struggled to launch our plan on our own. Additionally, we failed all of our compliance tests from things that our account manager or adviser should have flagged. Finally, all of our interactions with support have responded with AI-generated responses. So even though we're on a concierge level plan, I feel like we are not receiving any kind of individual level requests. It's been a frustrating experience to say the least.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest as a 401(k) platform for our employees. It's easy for them to use, and as an administrator, I appreciate its intuitive setup, especially for those not financially well-versed. Employees can update settings independently through their dashboard.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm sorry that your issues have not been resolved promptly, Jen. We know your experience is important, so we've escalated your case to ensure these problems are addressed as soon as possible. Our goal is to provide effective help, and a member of our Customer Advocacy team will be following up with you to make sure we get this right. Thank you for your feedback.

  ### 3. Robust Investment Options, but Customer Service and Go-Live Issues Hurt

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric R. | Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Investment portfolio is quite robust. They offer quite a bit to select which has made my employees feel very comfortable with their platform.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Customer Service, over reliance with chats, lack of being able to call your representative. We had to really complain loudly to get our conversion done to their portal. they messed up the original go live date and employees could not shelter money on the go live date.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Presently Human Interest is not solving problems and in fact is causing problems. Investment choices while robust are enormously difficult to select.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm sorry that your issues have not been resolved promptly, Eric. Thank you for your feedback.

  ### 4. Efficient 401K Administration, But Needs Better Support

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy Z.

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest makes it easy for employees to onboard and has an easy and intuitive dashboard. It handles all the administrative work for managing a 401K plan for small businesses.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I have had very mixed experiences with my Account Managers. I had one who was very thorough and one with whom I have had many problems getting my questions answered. I think that the Account Managers are not well trained on the product. They can give straightforward information but when any problems or questions arise they seem very unable to help. I think it must be poor training. Again not that easy because I was given incorrect information by the person who onboarded me.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest manages all functions of administrating a 401K plan for small businesses. It makes onboarding easy for employees and provides an easy and intuitive dashboard, handling all the administrative work.

**Official Response from Anthony Gomes:**

> Thank you for sharing this feedback, Amy. I'm sorry to hear you've been facing some inconsistencies. This is not the experience we want anyone to have, and our team is now actively investigating to resolve this as quickly as possible. A member of our Customer Advocacy team will contact you directly to discuss your experience, as we are always looking to improve the customer experience. Thank you for your patience while we work to make this right.

  ### 5. Free Solution with Setup Challenges and Cash Transfer Issues

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben J. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest is a free solution for a 401(k) plan. It's been easy to use so far.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I didn't like that when we transferred our money over, it sat in cash for almost a month, which was very problematic. We might have to file a complaint with the SEC. Also, the initial setup was pretty cumbersome. It was kind of a pain because I had to provide so much reporting manually from Guideline, so it took a lot more of my time than I thought would be necessary.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for my company's 401(k) for myself and my employees. It's a free solution.

  ### 6. Helpful 401(k) Signup Portal, but Customization and Data Import Issues Persist

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Warehousing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The online portal and directions for completing 401K sign up

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The platform is not as customized as we were sold. I can't adjust the notices I get- its either all or barely anything. Plus, the monthly tasks remain showing as if you haven't completed the review of eligible employees. I also dislike that our data import included data that we specifically had defined for not being imported and now it shows employees that are not and were not our employees.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We haven't completed the annual review yet, but that was something we were hoping was going to be better with Human Interest. We will see if that sales pitch comes through.

**Official Response from Anthony Gomes:**

> Thank you for sharing this feedback. I'm sorry to hear you've been facing around customizations. We would love to speak about your situation in more detail but we are unable to identify you. For security purposes, please follow these steps: after logging in, click Support at the top of your dashboard and request for your case to be escalated in the chat.

  ### 7. Complex Setup, Disappointing Support

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Terry T.

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I appreciate that the Human Interest platform is clean and modern and simple to understand.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Implementation was awful. Our implementation manager at first was very communicative but suddenly stopped responding when we encountered issues. Suddenly the issues started mounting up - employer contributions were missing, our plan wasn't set up correctly in the system. This resulted in many hours of work to fix it after. There should be a second check from another implementation manager to make sure it's set up right. Also, more training on customer support, not to just disappear when implementation is 'done' but there are issues encountered. The initial setup was very difficult.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest helps by reducing costs and streamlining vendor management for 401K plans.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm sorry that your issues have not been resolved promptly, Terry. We know your experience is important, so we've escalated your case to ensure these problems are addressed as soon as possible. Our goal is to provide effective help, and a member of our Customer Advocacy team will be following up with you to make sure we get this right. Thank you for your feedback.

  ### 8. Time-Saving Setup, But Lacks Trust and App Support

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest is easy to set up and maintain. I also appreciate software that saves me time because I don't have a lot of time on hand.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I'm frustrated with Human Interest because the sales team mentioned an introductory promotion period but didn't include an end date in the contract. When it ended after only half the time, they just referred me back to their Terms of Service. Also, I feel they should have an app so my employees can easily check on and manage their 401k.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for our 401k plan. It's easy to set up and maintain, saving me time I don't have.

  ### 9. Efficient 401(k) Management, But Customer Service Needs A Lot Of Improvement

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kerra M.

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest integrates with our payroll provider. We don't have to manually make any changes when an employee elects to change their plan, which is really convenient for us.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Customer service could be very much improved and does not work well for me. It also does not work well for multilocation with multiple EIN numbers.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest manages our 401(k) program effectively and integrates with our payroll provider, eliminating the need for manual changes when employees adjust their plans.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm sorry that your issues have not been resolved promptly, Kerra. We know your experience is important, so we've escalated your case to ensure these problems are addressed as soon as possible. Our goal is to provide effective help, and a member of our Customer Advocacy team will be following up with you to make sure we get this right. Thank you for your feedback.

  ### 10. the idea is great, the execution was tough

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jo C. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like the interface, intuitive and easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

We transitioned with one company to another, both with Human Interest.

1. It took me over 6 weeks to receive my rollover check from the first company. I requested the check 3x, somehow the first 2 checks were lost in the mail (can't be a coincidence), and finally received via UPS, at my expense, the third time.

2. When we started Human Interest with the second company, my employees were set up correctly for the 401k, but for whatever reason, me as the owner was disconnected from the system, and I missed 1-2 cycles where I should have been able to contribute.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

having a 401k for a small business

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm sorry that your issues have not been resolved promptly. We know your experience is important, so we've escalated your case to ensure these problems are addressed as soon as possible. We would love to speak about your situation in more detail but we are unable to identify you. For security purposes, please follow these steps: after logging in, click Support at the top of your dashboard and request for your case to be escalated in the chat.

  ### 11. Ver little support from the account manager - as a startup we need a lot of support and guidance

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Not sure yet. I have been using it for a few weeks only.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Very difficult to talk to our account manager - not responsive, calendar doesn't show any availability for the next 2 weeks or so. Responses to emails are inconsistent and come in from different people. They are never timely - a response comes back in 2-3-4 days.
Human Interest informed us they are not TPA and only provide record -keeping services. We are looking for extra help else where - this company is not willing or able to assist.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest is our 401k record keeper. They don't solve any problems for us, only ignore them or pretend these problems are not serious.

**Official Response from Kathy Yoo-Naut:**

> I'm very sorry that you haven't received a response to your inquiries. This is not the level of service we aim to provide. We would love to speak about your situation in more detail but we are unable to identify you. For security purposes, please follow these steps: after logging in, click Support at the top of your dashboard and request for your case to be escalated in the chat.

  ### 12. Great Payroll Integration, But Advisor Involvement Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The tools and resources provided by Human Interest, particularly the integration with so many different payroll vendors.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Human Interest does not adequately identify the financial advisors that prospective clients already have, nor do they engage these advisors early enough when presenting their services. As a result, clients are deprived of the valuable guidance and expertise their financial advisors provide, and financial advisors risk losing clients because they are not included on the 401(k) plan.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linking 401(k) with smaller payroll vendors is very helpful to 401(k) Plan Sponsors, particularly their 401(k) administrators.

  ### 13. Sales Team will say anything

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam J. | COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Very little! The plan is expensive and lacks customer service.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Our small non-profit was sold one plan and when the actual advisor looked at the plan told us that it wasn't set up properly - costing us thousands of additional dollars and delaying full retirement savings for an entire year.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Did not really solve any problem and cost us more money than other plans in the market.

  ### 14. Great start… then nothing

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom C. | Owner / Operator, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Getting set-up for a transfer of 401k went smoothly, with multiple contacts and the process was relatively easy.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Once initial set-up was complete, further contact was nonexistent. Even after I emailed with questions, I received an automated response, and the email was not followed up on. I am highly disappointed.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HI is not solving any problems for me, they are creating more problems. I don’t have time to continuously try to hint somebody down to get assistance.

  ### 15. Does not live up to the promises.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Supposedly fully integrates with our payroll platform (though in reality it has not been smooth). Friendly interface.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The sales presentation was very convincing, but actually rolling it out has been anything but smooth. It's hard to get in touch with Support. Unclear if there is an app that can be used. Information in our portal has been incorrect, and support has insisted it's just "how it is" (even though it's showing staff that they have made X contributions that they haven't actually made). Very disappointed with the overall product.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is nice that they are supposed to be fully integrated with payroll, though I'm not sure it will pan out as actually accurate. I've had issues so far that no one has been responsive about resolving.

  ### 16. Works OK with many data issues

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Uinam C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Looks clean and simple to manage. Connects OK with Rippling.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Multiple data sync issues since implementation.

1. New hires accounts weren't setup properly and I had to contact support multiple times to fix the issue.

2. Human Interest requested unique ID number with multiple characters and numbers which shows that they have a data sync issue with Rippling. I had to communicate with their account rep multiple times to them to aknowledge the issue.

3. Slow response time and no phone customer service. I am processing payroll right now, the employee contribution is not reflected on the HRIS. I don't have much time left and waiting for heir email response.

Overall, I am reviewing options to replace this service.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are solving data sync issues.

This does not benefit us. The expectation was a data sync without a hiccup.

  ### 17. Misinformation provided during sales pitch and onboarding

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Simple integration with Rippling, very little extra work required on my end

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I was provided false information about how employees that are not participating would be counted (or not) in compliance calculations - this is now creating a huge headache for me!

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing a low-cost 401(k) plan for my employees, which creates a better benefits package that can help with recruitment and retention.

  ### 18. Good Product but Management Needs an Overhaul

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julie C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Flexibility and ease for employees to manage their contributions

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Management. This is one of the worse I've seen in my 20 plus years as a Benefits Manager. Lack of communication, accountability and frequency of errors and omissions is what I dislike the most.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We didn't have a business problem. We wanted to be competive with like-minded organizations by offering a retirement plan.

  ### 19. Onboarding, Review of Plan Options

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naomi K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The quick response when questions are asked

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The onboarding and review of plan options

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing my employees with retirement options

  ### 20. Easy to use platform; broken processes

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tonya C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Human Interest is great for a smaller organization with employees that appreciate a strong digital platform. The fees are minimal and easy to understand

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The customer service is terrible and the follow up is even worse. Serious concerns with their compliance and timely processing of contributions

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Platform for our 401k plan and administration

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hi Tonya,

Thank you for letting us know about your plan concerns, and for the feedback on your customer service experience as well.

We are ensuring that both are addressed, and your Client Relationship Manager will be reaching out to you directy to speak specifically to the immediate changes Human Interest is making to optimize your experience moving forward.

  ### 21. Sharing Experience

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Package/Freight Delivery | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Dashboard is Decent, but still needs work.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Phone Support & process to transfer previous emp 401k process (ridiculous).

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 22. Great Concept, Terrible Service, Integration Issues

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The platform is user friendly and meets participants where they're at, offering a fully recommended investment portfolio, that can be adjusted as well as a fully customizable portfolio. They have a 360 degree integration with our payroll/HRIS systems. The on-demand participant education is good.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Their service is deplorable. I read the reviews before signing up and asked my salesperson about this. He said they were experiencing rapid growth through a period when all employers were challenged to stay fully staffed (pandemic), so they understandably had some growing pains but had since invested in building and training the team. He assured me their service was good now. It's not quite as bad as some of the horror stories I've read in other reviews, but it's still terrible. My "dedicated" account manager rarely responds in a timely fashion and I often have to email her several times on an given issue. Once I looped in her supervisor because the reply was taking so long, then I still had to loop in the general support email on top of that to get a response. I have been given conflicting information a few times.
They made mistakes setting our plan up, the integration was not working right for our first payroll, and we are still experiencing integration issues e.g. someone changed their employee contribution rate and the employer contribution rate changed to zero at that time (our org always contributes the same % no matter the rate the employee contributes).
If your salesperson tells you the dedicated account manager provides employee education, they're lying or they need better training. I asked about this several times during the sales process and was told the account manager would be available for one on one advising to my employees. Turns out they're only available to assist account admins (if they ever respond to my emails).

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was sold to me as a nearly-hands-off solution due to the 360 degree integration with our HRIS & payroll systems, however, a few months in we are still finding errors that we have to follow up on to try to get the appropriate company to solve the root problem so we don't run into it again later. We implemented at the start of the year, so the true test will come when it's time for annual testing & reporting.

  ### 23. I am indifferent to the use of Human Interest.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The website is easy enough to log on to.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Customer service is not helpful. I feel like bait and switch for all services were used.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an independent 401k provider that met our price point and Human Interest did that.

  ### 24. Very poor record keeping and follow up

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Doug W. | Chief Executive Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The choice of investments. Not luch else so far.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The vesting schedule on my plan is still not correct. I signed up for 18 mos. vest g and they are soung immediate vesting. Ive cintacted aupport and no one follows up.

The termination of small balance terminated employees accounts is also problematic

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Employee retention and engagement

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hi Doug,

Thank you for letting us know about your vesting concerns. One of our Customer Advocates has reached out to you directly to confirm that your plan's vesting schedule has been addressed and resolved. In addition to your Client Relationship Manager being available to support you with any additional concerns, please know that you are always welcome to set up a call with our Customer Advocacy Team to detail any additional feedback that we will be sure to prioritize by utilizing the following link:

  ### 25. Controller

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Simple and easy to use for our employees although if you need to call them most of time you will wait for a long time and them be asked to leave a voicemail and then get no returned call.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Customer Service is horrible. For the last 2-3 months you can call and wait for 45 min then get a voicemail. They Take weeks to get back to you. They have not withdrawn funds from our employees contributions for over 2 months despite 6 VM's to their company and multiple online requests. There is no accountability at this company. The only reason why we are staying with them is that it will take a lot of effort to move to a new company.

**Recommendations to others considering Human Interest:**

None

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides a 401k

**Official Response from Tarik Covington:**

> Hi there, thanks for your feedback about Human interest! We appreciate you choosing us to offer your employees this great benefit.

  ### 26. Too much self-serve...Human Interest needs more human touch!

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edward H. | Managing Director & Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The young lady that helped us with the sign-up was nice and professional. But that is where the direct human contact began and ended. Someone should have followed up with us in a more direct manner.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The platform or service appears to be nearly 100% self-serve with no real assistance from a real person. The company should have someone cal you to "walk-you-through" your first payroll cycles with the program/service.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Employees want an 401K Plan for long-term savings, investing, and it helps with retention.

  ### 27. Functional, but poor service

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Furniture | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Integrated with our payroll software, Paycom. Full 360 communication. Easy changes by employees or administration.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Customer service was horrendous. The implementation team failed to update our team on the simplest of things, such as when the black out end, setting up auto wire withdrawals, etc. Could not get an invoice for fees for months.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

401k administration and management

  ### 28. Early Issues have been difficult to work through for our organization

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rod T. | COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Information was very clear and was presented in a very concise and clear way. Claudia did a great job communicating with our team. It was also very helpful that she was bi-lingual.

This seemed to be a very easy system to understand in the beginning.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I always prefer to be face to face for onboarding into a new plan like this but it is understood why it is this way. So far - it the service and responses have been good.

In the first 3 months, we have had issues with the automated process to withhold funds from checks. We have two different pay cycles (one for hourly- weekly and one for salary - every other week) and we have struggled to get this running smoothly. The response has not been a great experience as we work to get these issues resolved.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is early in the process. Bringing on the 401K for our associates was and is extremely important for our business. This was a requested add from many of our associates.

We need solutions for the problems that we are having with the systems.

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hi Rod,

We appreciate the feedback and are thrilled to hear that the onboarding process was a successful one for you.

Thank you, also, for taking the time to express additional concerns regarding your plan's contributions. Our Manager of Customer Advocacy and Success has reached out to your plan's administrator this afternoon so that a primary point of contact is readily available while we work to resolve your concerns.

If you would like to set up an additional appointment to further detail your experience, you can do so here: https://humaninterest.chilipiper.com/book/me/jill-dinucci.

  ### 29. Great Promises | Stumbled Out of the Gate on Delivery

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I think their sales process is exceptional and they definitely give the impression that they are a company that cares. I also like their employee platform as it is easy to navigate and manage.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The post-sale service has been extremely lacking. I am in the middle of escalating my concerns in HI. Although I was told my PEO platform integrates, it does not. I have to enter deductions manually. But no one has trained me. Also, the notification to employees about the program came out randomly about 90 days after I signed up, and with no advance notice to me. My employees were not given an introductory meeting, which is one of the reasons I chose HI. We are all scratching our heads about to proceed. Needless to say, my employee adoption has been dismal, and moving them toward adoption will be an uphill climb from here. This is the worst part because it negates the whole purpose of offering a company-matched 401K program to start with. I just wonder why HI had such great promises but failed so badly right out of the gate.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I contracted with HI to offer a company-matched 401K. I was looking for a high-support partner because I am a small business and really need the help of a professional organization for all elements of this program. It is not yet benefiting me because I am having difficuties launching.

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Thank you for providing such in-depth detail regarding your experience so far, and we are determined to make things right.

We do apologize for the concerns caused by the onboarding process and are eager to learn more. At your convenience, please know that you can schedule an appointment to speak with us directly in order to further escalate and have your questions answered with urgency: https://humaninterest.chilipiper.com/book/me/jill-dinucci.

  ### 30. NOT ALL ITS CRACKED UP TO BE

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Explaining the program and fees. Helping with the setup to get us enrolled.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Once you are onboard it is hard to get in touch with your account manager. You can only make zoom meetings. It took over a month for the contributions to be accurately accounted on their website and even longer for them to deduct the funds in a timely manner.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting a 401K started for a small company and handling all the threshold criteria auditing.

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hello,

We value your feedback and appreciate your review. We'd love to speak to the delayed contributions you've mentioned, and the lack of communication with your Account Manager that you've detailed in order to elevate your overall experience.

Unfortunately, we are unable to identify your company's plan with the information provided. Please know that you can set up a call with us at your convenience by using the following link: https://humaninterest.chilipiper.com/book/me/jill-dinucci.

  ### 31. Not quite what we were looking for

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsey K. | SR Staff Accountant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Human Interest is easy to work with when our payroll software was able to integrate.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

When our system changed and we were no longer able to integrate directly it became a manual process.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They can work fast at implementing new companies as we are expanding at a significant rate this year.

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hi Lindsey,

After our phone conversation today, we sent you a follow-up email so that you have an additional direct point of contact to address any additional concerns.

We truly appreciate your feedback and are working directly with your Client Relationship Manager to ensure a more seamless experience moving forward.

  ### 32. Implementation was very unorganized.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Ease of enrolling to the plan and the integration with Paylocity.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The design and implementation of our plan were chaotic. Poor communication between HI contact and us. Was rushed to create and enroll participants and then the employee contributions were not processed.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/a

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hello,

We are happy to see that you find your plan's payroll integration and enrollment process easy!

Your additional feedback is also appreciated, and we would love to learn more about your onboarding process so that we can ensure a more seamless experience moving forward. Please know that you can schedule a call with us directly at your convenience using the link here: https://humaninterest.chilipiper.com/book/me/jill-dinucci.

  ### 33. Once signed up the level of customer service dropped off dramatically

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Integration with ADP. Online administrator portal.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Once signed up the level of customer service dropped off dramatically. Reporting does not meet accounting needs.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our employees need retirement accounts, Human interest provides that for our employees.

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hello,

We are sorry to see that the level of customer service that we strive to provide has not met expectations. Your feedback is appreciated so that we can improve your experience moving forward.

Based on the information provided, we are unable to locate your plan, but would love to learn more. In order for us to do so, please know that you can set up an appointment with us at your convenience using this link: https://humaninterest.chilipiper.com/book/me/jill-dinucci.

  ### 34. It was very hard process with no clear directions

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve S. | Managing Member , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The Plan cost was low with a lot of invesment options

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Bad communication and direction on what all needed be done.

**Recommendations to others considering Human Interest:**

Have a better outline of the process with timelines and one key point of contact for issues that come up

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to invest pre-tax for myself and employees

**Official Response from Jill DiNucci:**

> Hi Steve,

We apologize that you haven't received the service that we strive to provide to all of our customers. We are unable to locate your information within our system. However, we would love to schedule some time to speak with you. Please follow this link to set up a time that works for you: https://humaninterest.chilipiper.com/book/me/maureen-vahue

  ### 35. Works well until you need a disbursement

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The ability to access the site through SSO was a significant help. The site layout was easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

The process to get a hardship disbursement was almost impossible. I had to resubmit forms five times. Each time there was a different issue that needed to be corrected. I would receive an email response 2-3 days after sending each correction a few days later. I finally gave up and will wait until my employer rolls over to a new provider. All in all, it took over a month before I gave up.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An easy to use 401K provider to save for retirement,

**Official Response from Mitzy Bodner:**

> Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear that you've been having such a negative experience receiving the distribution. Can you please reach out to our Customer Advocacy Team at advocate@humaninterest.com so we can look into what happened?

  ### 36. Good for Users bad for Owners

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Interface for company employees is reasonably easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Support team for owners and decision makers is a sporatic team based approach without ownership or accountability. I have been trying for over a year to get clear guidance on owner contribution limitations. While support agents are polite, they are not well informed on matters that relate to company owners. I have yet to get a properly informed response on this issue that presumably is relevant to all company owners.

**Recommendations to others considering Human Interest:**

Find a company that separates support for ownership from support for users.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing employees to 401K savings.

**Official Response from Mitzy Bodner:**

> Thank you for reaching out. We would like to look further into your question about contribution limitations, but we need to locate your account. Will you please email your information to advocate@humaninterest.com and mention this post so we can provide more detailed information? Thank you!

  ### 37. Inconsistent timing in reports, responsiveness and transactions

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Linked with our payroll service, Zenefits and on-line access for admin and employees.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

We have encountered numerous issues since joining January 2020:
1) long distribution request processing times (4-6 weeks!)
2) inconsistent processing timing of payroll contributions (sometimes a few days, sometimes a few weeks
3) inconsistent timing of quarterly employee account statements (just received Q1 2021 in July 2021 and now received Q2 2021 also in July 2021
4) challenge in setting contribution amount for a partner (non-employee)

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

See issues above.
Human Interest VP, Rakesh, provided us with a dedicated service rep to help resolve matters but issues reoccur.

**Official Response from Christine Cullen:**

> Thank you for reaching out. We would like to look further into your concerns surrounding payroll processing, distributions, account settings, and quarterly statements, but we need to locate your account. Will you please email your information to advocate@humaninterest.com and mention this post so we can escalate this? Thank you!

  ### 38. Fine for small business but bad to awful customer service

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian M. | Sr Dir Sales, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Easy to implement plan for small to mid sized companies.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Customer service and communication. I had requested a distribution. Was told it takes 4-5 weeks. After 9 weeks, I never heard back. It was "escalated" to management. Another 5 weeks of no communication. I reached out again and was told it was being researched. Feels like it is a one person team and that person left the company.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Offering a 401k to our 100 employees.

**Official Response from Mitzy Bodner:**

> Brian, It looks like your concerns may have been addressed via email on Monday. If you would like to address this in more detail, can you please email advocate@humaninterest.com so a Customer Advocacy Specialist can connect with you directly? Thank you.

  ### 39. Not much communication.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

The online system is good. But still dont know much about it has I have never been trained on how to use it.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

It is very hard to contact someone. I would like to have a one point of contact whom I can email for all of my businesses and can help me with all my questions. I usually have different people for different questions.

**Recommendations to others considering Human Interest:**

Have a one point of contact for all my businesses.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, I just thought moving to Human Interest will be easier, but since the communication is hard, its actually for confusing than having a person help us.

**Official Response from Tarik Covington:**

> Hi there, we appreciate the time you took to leave us feedback. Our goal is to ensure that you have access to the help that you need when you need it. We’re sorry you’ve encountered issues reaching our team. We’d love to learn more about your experience and how we can improve. If you’re up for it, please reach out to us at feedback@humaninterest.com.

  ### 40. Lag in time between HI accepting 401k cash contributions and when it is actually hits the account.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It was the only option at the time- we thought that a smaller company would provide better customer service

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Lack of response/ slow response time on emp issues

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to provide a great 401k experience for our employees. We have since moved over to another provider

**Official Response from Mitzy Bodner:**

> Thank you for reaching out. We would like to look further into your concerns, but we need to locate your account. Will you please email your information to advocate@ humaninterest.com and mention this post so we can see what happened with your experience?

  ### 41. Well priced option

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I think the employee-side support is quite good.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I think that certain aspects of plan management and account management could be significantly improved.

**Recommendations to others considering Human Interest:**

Make sure you have a simple plan and don't need support.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to inexpensively implement a 401k plan as a small company.

**Official Response from Tarik Covington:**

> Hi there, we appreciate your feedback. We’re glad to see that you’re finding our platform to be a useful and cost effective tool to help your employees save for their retirement. We also value your feedback about plan management and account management - we’d like to hear more about your experience. Would you please reach out to us at feedback@humaninterest.com so we can talk about it? We look forward to hearing from you.

  ### 42. Low fees, but low scores on features and responsiveness too

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Shipbuilding | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Low fees for employees. I like the modern feel of the portal.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I have not been impressed by HI's responsiveness. Additionally, employees are currently unable to contribute a fixed amount and are stuck contributing percentages of wages earned, which are highly variable for our sales organization so employees cannot accurately predict how much they are contributing on a given paycheck.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems solved: we were paying higher fees which means that employees couldn't save as much for the future. Benefits realized: easy sign up for new employees

**Official Response from Linda Diep:**

> Hi,

We appreciate you taking the time to provide us feedback. I'm sorry to hear you didn't receive the best service. Our account management team is committed to responding promptly and we regret you didn't receive the best experience. If you're still experiencing issues and need help, I'm more than happy to take this offline and help where I can. Contact us at customers@humaninterest.com.

We're dedicated to providing a great customer experience in our service as well as in our product. While I don't have a specific timeline at this time, our product team is aware and this is on our product roadmap to give you the flexibility to choose a percentage or fixed dollar amount.

Thank you for the feedback and feel free to reach out if you have additional questions or feedback – we're always listening! We look forward to speaking with you and working towards earning your confidence in us.

Sincerely,
Linda from Human Interest Partner Team
