## Human Interest Reviews
 ### 1. Choose literally ANYONE else

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathie R. | Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I haven’t had a good experience with Human Interest.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I dislike that they don’t seem eager to help resolve issues when they come up, yet they are very quick to blame others for their own shortcomings. They also don’t keep good records.

I signed up with them so I could offer a 401k to my employees without having to do all the work myself or micromanage the process. Money coming from the payroll provider is not applied correctly and the deductions from the payroll provider that was incorrect was mishandled. It has been a long and tedious process for someone with no experience in 401k processing
When there is a problem detected by their system I’m unable to correct employee information in the system when they tell me it’s wrong, because there’s no way to select the correct options.

Overall, my list of dislikes is quite long.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. They make more work for me

**Official Response from Anthony Gomes:**

> I'm very sorry that you haven't received a response to your inquiries, Kathie. This is not the level of service we aim to provide. A member of our Customer Advocacy team will contact you directly to discuss your experience, as we're always looking to improve the customer experience. Thank you for your patience, and we are committed to improving our communication.

 ### 2. Effortless Integration with Rippling, Exceptional Usability

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie P. | CFO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I really appreciate how easy Human Interest is to work with. They've been very prompt in their responses, and I've yet to have any issues. I love how seamlessly it integrates with Rippling, making things really smooth. Everyone was able to change their elections whenever needed, which was ideal, and switching from a regular to a Roth was perfect. Setting it up was a breeze—just signing a couple of papers and getting everyone to sign up. The automatic enrollment feature was also great, even catching those who didn't sign up on time. The integration with Rippling, who handles our payroll, saved me the hassle of figuring out a separate 401(k) plan. It's genuinely been very easy and efficient.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Nothing

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Human Interest makes it easy to save for retirement with a 401(k) plan and integrates seamlessly with Rippling, saving me time. Setting it up was a breeze, and they automatically enroll everyone, even those who miss the signup deadline.

 ### 3. Great interface and customer service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aleksander M. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Human Interest makes retirement planning feel much simpler and more accessible than traditional providers. The platform is intuitive and transparent, and it doesn’t overwhelm you with financial jargon—everything is laid out in a way that’s easy to follow. The payroll integration is seamless, so contributions happen automatically without any manual effort. That reliability, along with the overall ease of use, really stands out.

The main upsides of using Human Interest are accessibility and transparency, strong automation, solid support and compliance, and scalability as your needs grow.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

While the platform is streamlined, sometimes the simplicity means there’s less flexibility for those who want more advanced investment customization or specialized fund choices. The focus is on automation, which is great for many, but it can feel limiting if you prefer a more hands-on role in managing your investments.

Another challenge is customer support. Although generally responsive, there can be delays during peak times, and answers sometimes feel scripted rather than personalized.

Downsides of using Human Interest include:
-Limited Investment Options
-Customer Service Response Times
-Employer Costs

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest solves the complexity, cost, and compliance challenges of offering a retirement plan by automating filings, integrating with payroll, and simplifying the process end-to-end. For me, that means less administrative burden, peace of mind on compliance, and a straightforward way for employees (and myself) to confidently build long-term savings.

 ### 4. Effortless 401k Management with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan F. | Vice President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I’ve found Human Interest incredibly easy to set up, which has saved me a lot of time. Their support team is great, and it makes the whole 401k process feel quick, straightforward, and effective from start to finish. I haven’t had any negative experiences so far. As someone starting a new 401k plan, I also appreciate the tax benefits, though the experience would be even better with clearer explanations around how everything works. It is also very cost competitive which was one of the primary drivers that drove us to choose Human Interest. Lastly the user interface is simple allowing for quickly switching between individual user screens and employer screens. Furthermore, the simple udpates for tasks needing to be completed are incredibly easy to follow and complete.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

There was nothing bad. As a new 401k plan, there are tax benefits which can be somewhat confusing. Anything that can make that as clear as possible would be great.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for our 401k plans, which are easy to set up with great support, making the process quick and effective. Before Human Interest we did not have. a 401k plan. Human Interest's cost structure was compelling, which gave us ample incentive to start the plan. Immediately after starting the plan, our employees increased their contributions, further enhancing the value proposition of the plan. It has been very well received.

 ### 5. Seamless Retirement Solutions for Small Businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I use Human Interest for providing 401K benefits to my small business. It's super easy to use, which is crucial for me as a small business owner because my time is valuable. I really appreciate that it connects seamlessly with Gusto, my payroll software, and there are no fees for this integration. The simplicity of the initial setup was impressive; I barely had to do anything, and my employees were able to register with ease. This integration takes the guesswork out of retirement benefits and makes everything seamless.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

They mentioned they were going to start charging for their services. I will be very disappointed if they start charging because I will cancel my account with them. When I signed up, the person I spoke with said for the foreseeable future it will be free with Gusto integration and I expect them to stand by that.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest for 401(k) for my small business. It allows my employees to have retirement benefits and is super easy to use. The integration with Gusto makes everything seamless for me, saving time and eliminating the guesswork out of retirement benefits.

 ### 6. Headache

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Morgan B. | Co-owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

It was great in the beginning and unfortunately their was an error made on their end that they owned up to their mistake however it cost my company over $1,000 extra, there was indeed out of pocket cost because funds were withdrawn automatically from our account. Thank you for your patience on this! You’ve got the right idea. During a recent review, we identified that some employee contributions weren't processed as they should have been. Because this was an error on our end, we’ve applied a Correction Credit to resolve it.
What this means for you:
No out-of-pocket cost: We’ve already moved the necessary funds into the affected employee accounts to make them whole. Since Human Interest covered the cost of this correction, there isn't a refund due to the company; instead, we used those funds to fix the discrepancy directly.

We handle the paperwork: When contributions are delayed, the IRS requires a specific filing called Form 5330. This is simply a report used to document the correction. Our team is taking care of the preparation for you.

Next steps: When the filing deadline approaches, we will send the completed form to you for a quick review and signature. You don’t need to take any action until then.

You can find a full breakdown of the specific amounts and employees affected in the Error Correction Reports section of your Document Library on the admin dashboard. We’ve also included summaries there that you can share with your team members if they have questions about their accounts.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I had a few minor hiccups during setup because I was both an owner and an employee, and they needed to merge my two accounts. It took a few weeks to get everything sorted out, but once it was resolved, it worked smoothly. After that, a few additional issues came up and were only resolved after multiple calls and emails with three different departments.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

401K plans are required by our state

 ### 7. Seamless Gusto Integration with Flexible, User-Friendly Platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amod D. | Co-Founder & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I absolutely appreciate the integration of Human Interest with Gusto, which makes managing employee benefits seamless and cost-effective for us. Setting up Human Interest was straightforward, thanks to the responsive support team and intuitive design. The overwhelming flexibility in choosing different retirement plans and configuring investment amounts stands out as highly beneficial. The simple and approachable interface distinguishes itself from typical financial software, providing a smoother user experience. Additionally, the discount due to our use of Gusto makes this service even more valuable.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I find it would be helpful if Human Interest offered more educational materials for employees unfamiliar with a 401(k) or its workings. As our team is relatively young and new to this, having those resources readily available could have been beneficial a few months ago.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Human Interest offers our employees retirement benefits, reducing tax burdens and boosting savings. Its integration with Gusto simplifies administration, making setup easy and efficient. The platform's design and flexible investment options enhance user experience, aiding talent attraction and retention.

 ### 8. Owner and Manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** LAURIS C. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I have been wanting to add the benefit of 401K for my staff, had originally been contacted by my bank on how to set it up but the process was confusing and complicated and I seem to fall thru the cracks, when I spoke with my payroll rep he recommended Human Interest and we were luckily able to stop one sign up to Human Interest. Each member of the Human Interest group seemed to care, took the time I needed to understand and proceed appropriately and then followed up. The actual installation and set up, sign up and installation went smoothly, no hassle, no complications. Each of my staff members feel comfortable as do I.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

Most helpful was their patience and ability to make it all understandable.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The set up and installation.

 ### 9. Transparent Price, Responsive Support, But Limited Options and No Personal Relationship

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

Cost is fair. They are responsive to phone calls and emails. You can talk to a real US based person pretty quickly.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

I have a few complaints. You can only make percentage based contributions and not dollar amount contributions. This was misrepresented to me during sales calls. Their backend system is limited in in its functionality. It is currently not possible for employees to take Emergency Personal Expense distributions per the Secure 2.0. It has taken them several weeks to allocate the funds received from our previous provider. They say you get a dedicated account manager, but those "dedicated" managers do not have their own email addresses. If you send an email, you could get a response from anyone in a pool of people. The dedicated account managers have very limited power to actually do anything. They really serve as middle men between the customer and other parts of Human Interest. A lot of questions are answered with statements like "let me check with the compliance team" or "I will let you know what the conversion team says". It will take several days and multiple emails to resolve anything.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They answer the phone and charge a fair and transparent price for their service.

**Official Response from Anthony Gomes:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share constructive feedback. We're glad to hear your feedback on responsiveness and support, and we appreciate your input on what we can improve. We are always looking to enhance our customer experience, so I'm passing this information on to our team.

 ### 10. Simplified 401k Management with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Loren G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Human Interest?**

I like that Human Interest makes it easy for me to have a 401(k) plan for my employees. I also appreciate that they have been able to answer my questions and make the whole process simpler. They let me know about what my options are and help me pick the best option for me and my business. Additionally, the customer service person has been really helpful when I've had problems or needed to make changes, and the initial setup was very easy with helpful support.

**What do you dislike about Human Interest?**

There's been one time when Human Interest didn't sync perfectly with my payroll plan, so I needed to call the payroll company and make some changes.

**What problems is Human Interest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Human Interest to easily manage a 401(k) plan for my employees. They simplify the process, help answer my questions, and guide me in choosing the best options. Their customer service is really helpful, especially when making changes.
