HTB is a fantastic platform to step by step level up skills. I am using the pro version for last 2 months and I see a lot of change in my understanding and problem solving. HTB's pawnbox is an amazing tool. It helped me to stay unbothered about my PC's resources getting consumed and focus on the modules. Coming tom learning it's not for completly beginner . Some Beginner topics will have theory . Theory is okay but it is way too critical for a beginner . If HTB can fix it , then it would be very good for beginners too ! . I have mostly focused my efforts in Academy so far. The way the information is presented is very straight forward and easy to digest. I often re-reference the materials and have even found that commands are updated if parts of them become depracated. I've spent times on many other learning platforms and I found that when presented with the same or similar information on HTB, the way it was presented just clicked with my brain. I understood and can definitely feel progess with my hacking abilities. The live chat did provide some quick answers when connection issues occur. There are times when I have had difficulty solving labs. Some Academy labs are pretty straight forward, and if you follow the commands in the order they are presented, and change them to the context of the new parameters, are easily solved. However, some labs are like the plot of a Christopher Nolan movie. You'll have to start in the middle of the lesson, go to the end, back to the beginning, research some command for extra parameters that weren't presented in the lesson at all, then maybe you'll solve it. I have leaned on HTB Forums for help. Sometimes responses to queries are months later. I know part of hacking is finding a solution to a problem even when the answer is not obvious. Sometimes you learn the most when you struggle the hardest. That said, there are times when the complexity of question after a lesson seems unnecessarily difficult in comparison to the material presented. Not all labs are created equally. Among the myriad reasons to love Hack The Box, its extensive range of realistic challenges and simulated environments stands out. While Hack The Box offers a wealth of valuable resources and challenges, there are a few areas that could be improved. Sometimes I may find certain challenges overly difficult or lacking in clear instructions, which can be frustrating. Additionally, occasional server downtime or technical issues may disrupt the learning experience. The academy learning materials are very good. The content is great, relevant and very easy to understand and follow. I've done quite a lot of this kind of training and I've not come across anything as good yet. The HTB platform itself is very good too with machines covering all topics, and some very helpful pathways and tracks to follow if pursuing something like CREST accreditation. The only downside I can think of (and this may be because I've not used this aspect of the service rather than it not being available) is that the boxes to test your skills oon are all stand-alone and not networked and so while they are good for testing and practicing individual skills, in a fully networked environment with multiple boxes it would be a little bit more realistic. There is also not a lot of content on testing Wifi, and network routers / switches, though i appreciate some of this kind of thing may be difficult to teach remotely. What I like best about HTB is its comprehensive approach to teaching offensive security. The platform offers a diverse range of virtual machines and challenges. Additionally, the hands-on nature of the platform allows users to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. One aspect I dislike about HTB is the limited availability of machines in the free version. Although there's a wide variety of free machines, I would appreciate having access to more retired machines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It allows me to get more comfortable with tooling and techniques outside of real engagements. The fact that its not a real engagement is honestly amazing for the learning process as at times the time-limited aspect and stress limits how fast/how much you can learn.

Either way i love HTB and i hold a VIP membership and silver academy lisence despite having access to enterprise. The reason i still have an academy lisence is that for a while the progress wasnt shared and i didnt want to start again from scratch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This is specific to the enterprise platform, but, its the fact that prolabs cannot be reset by the players, you must contact the admin of the HTB subscription (at least in our instance we have to). This can be a bit of a pain when someone has come before you, taken an unintended path which breaks the previous portions of the box (i gave up on zephyr because of this as someone had apparently destroyed the intended paths by accident). My favorite part about hack the box is the evolution of the platform. First the platform was vulnerable machines. Now we have pro labs, academy, and challenges. I heavily use all these as the training lead at my company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only dislike is from the enterprise edition of hack the box, which our customer success team always listens to our feedback. Main things I would like to see improved is reporting dedicated labs, academy, and pro labs.
