Everything that I need to manage and control devices workflow is available on HiveMQ, especially with IoT device. The visualization control help me to understand and view data easier and see how many connection is the network handling at one time. I primarily used the Edge HiveMQ solution. The HTTP interface that can be used to adjust bridge settings made configuration investigation easy. Deployment was simple, because of the JVM. The broker appears to follow MQTT protocol and was easy to integrate into our system. The support channel is quite responsive, and the history of previously asked questions saved me time. The Edge broker is written in Java, which, with the JVM, is known to have some computational overhead. Some expected differences for Java-based programs include higher memory consumption and less performance than lower-level languages like C, C++, Golang, and Rust. In my testing and comparison of brokers, HiveMQ for the Edge did use more memory, resulting in less performance than Mosquitto (written in C) on a resource-constrained device during high message volume. It's probable that many use-cases will find this performance hit neglegible. The configuration is XML, which can be less pleasant to read and work with than JSON, or YAML. I still would like to mention the fact that HiveMQ might be relatively expensive in comparison to other platforms for small projects or startups. Furthermore, the software’s stability is internally high, but outsiders may have to go through a learning curve to familiarize with MQTT protocols slowing the process slightly.
