Its broker efficiently handles large volumes of MQTT messages with minimal latency. The platform’s monitoring and management tools make it easy to track device connections and troubleshoot issues quickly. The most helpful aspect is its ability to handle large-scale deployments while maintaining performance. HiveMQ’s clustering and high-availability features ensure minimal downtime, which is critical for real-time IoT applications. Integration with existing systems is straightforward, and the documentation is thorough. **What do you dislike about HiveMQ?** The main downside is that some advanced features require familiarity with MQTT protocols and may have a learning curve for new users. We specifically like that its topic architecture is flexible enough to split the city data into according to individual department at a granular level like /traffic/sensors or /waste/bins and there is no performance penalty incurred. Our cloud data lakes work in conjunction with each other fairly seamlessly, so the data placement we need for analytics is very easy to achieve. **What do you dislike about HiveMQ?** The core functionality is superb, but reporting features of overall message throughput, client connections are sometimes less intuitive. A considerable amount of time is wasted in digging logs to find particular performance metrics instead of those being right out in the open. There are also some advanced configuration options which we found out to be slightly more in-depth to learn than we expected, and you will have to experiment with them. **What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have previously faced a lot of problems with data interoperability between the different smart city components manufactured by different suppliers. The plethora of sensors and controllers each introduced their own and unique data format and method of communication resulting in a spaghetti smattering of custom integration code. HiveMQ has eliminated this entirely by offering an unified MQTT backbone and all our devices are speaking the same language and as such have made our deployment of new city services to be much quicker. ### 3. We particularly love the ease with which it is to manage client certificates which enable a secure connection to the device. The in-built monitoring dashboards are excellent as well. They allowed us to identify possible problems and bottlenecks in our IoT data streams in real time. **What do you dislike about HiveMQ?** I would like the documentation to have more applicable examples to particular industrial protocols. Some of the personal authentication options required time to set up and the original cost schedule was a bit disorienting. It could have been made clearer in the beginning. **What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our remotely deployed environmental sensors were not getting real time data. Our climate control adjustments were being slowed down by the lag. We have noticed some significant increase in the speed of data delivery since implementing HiveMQ. We are now making decisions faster, and this is much more energy efficient. ### 4. We regularly deploy remote sensors in locations with poor cellular connectivity and we very seldom lose telemetry as a result of its smart buffering. Improved documentation of the API would also help to make the integration of new hardware a lot less of a pain point among our engineering staff. **What do you dislike about HiveMQ?** It would be nice to have more immediately accessible community wiki discussions on very specific edge cases. The final effect of some of the finer QoS choices also proved to be harder to fully comprehend than expected. The official introduction wizards are awesome but anything beyond that felt a little bit disjointed regarding custom plugin development. **What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?** Previously, we were always in battle ensuring that our deployed specialized medical devices were always patched with critical software updates. This was especially difficult in devices in remote clinics with flaky internet. HiveMQ has shifted all of this and in a reliable manner delivers updates immediately when a device is back online significantly decreasing the support overhead as well as improving patient safety. ### 5. It can handle a large number of messages effectively, which is crucial for ensuring proper device interaction. The scalability aspect of the software is also a major plus in that we are able to expand our IoT structure without compromising on performance. Our cloud platforms are integrated with HiveMQ to make data handling easier and more accessible. One of the unique options is the possibility to track and control the system with the help of the intuitive dashboard. **What do you dislike about HiveMQ?** I still would like to mention the fact that HiveMQ might be relatively expensive in comparison to other platforms for small projects or startups. This can be a significant disadvantage for some organizations especially those that are just establishing themselves in a given market. Furthermore, the software’s stability is internally high, but outsiders may have to go through a learning curve to familiarize with MQTT protocols slowing the process slightly. These aspects have sometimes raised the issue of the cost justification and ensuing training necessary, particularly when the downturn is limited. **What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?** HiveMQ helps us meet our IoT communication requirements by providing a robust and scalable MQTT broker. This makes it easy for transfer of data from one device to the other which is very beneficial for our business. The measures you have taken regarding security are commendable and give peace of mind regarding our information. By using HiveMQ, we have centralized our data and this has made our activities to be efficient and we are able to respond to queries faster. It's like they had beginners in mind when designing it. Setting up my devices to chat with each other was surprisingly straightforward. I was able to get my devices talking within minutes, without needing a degree in tech wizardry. I also liked how i was able to connect seamlessly any number of smart products from all kinds of different brands and products and nothing tripped HiveMQ up it still worked accurately and quickly, which was pretty great after dealing with ALexa and google for so long. My IoT setup was turning into a jumbled mess of devices speaking different languages. HiveMQ acted as the translator I needed. It created a smooth communication network where my smart gadgets exchanged information effortlessly. Controlling my devices from anywhere, and having them collaborate seamlessly, has transformed how I manage my smart home and small business. HIveMQ has a user-friendly interface with solid community support when you run into issues. Really made the impossible easily possible for me this will be game changer in people's ability to set up their own smart homes. **What do you dislike about HiveMQ?** I did encounter some frustation when trying to access more advanced settings. HiveMQ's customization features, while powerful, required a bit of learning curve. Some of the more intricate settings felt like unraveling a mystery. Thankfully, the HiveMQ community and resources helped me overcome this hurdle. However the open-sourced free version only offers so much in terms of more advanced settings and features and I was reluctant to move up to the more advanced (and expensive) commercial version of the software. **What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?** HiveMQ effectively resolves our challenges in IoT communication by ensuring seamless device interaction, scalability, and efficient data integration. This benefits us by enhancing operational efficiency, enabling smooth business growth, and providing real-time insights for informed decision-making.
