The speech-to-video option. As far as I know, it’s currently the only app on the market right now that lets you upload your own audio and create a stable AI avatar with it. That’s the only feature I use, because it’s the only feature I need. Any B-roll material is generated by other AIs. Onboarding was a bit of a chore, since it didn't let me test that function fully. so I had to choose a voice from the menu, that was annoying. the only way for me to test it, was to buy a month of subscription - thank god it worked out for me, because i really have no extra money for stunts like that. performance is good, no complaints there. I'd maybe like to have other options in terms of format, not just 9:16 and 16:9. also, the ai-avatar is still moving a bit stiffly, the instructions for movements nearly never work out. but the upload for the audio and the transcriptions always work out just fine, so there's a good balance of give and take Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about HeyGen? I dislike that my movement instructions are always ignored; at this point, I’ve basically given up on them. Also, the look of the teeth—and the mouth in general—still feels quite unnatural, and noticeably so. If you start with a friendly-looking avatar picture, the moving avatar will probably end up looking clownish. If you start with a more severe look, the avatar becomes very stern very quickly. I’m a content creator, but I don’t want to show my face. Instead, I like creating avatars with full backstories that fit the narrative I’m pursuing. Right now, I’m mostly just glad this software exists at all, because it suggests that something better than Heygen is coming eventually. That said, I’m not excited about Heygen whatsoever. The price is too high for the level of quality, the tech just isn’t quite there yet, and I don’t like the way they intentionally misword things to pull more money out of people. You can use the voices already available in the platform, or you can take it to the next level. In my case, I uploaded a photo of a beloved member of our company and used that image to deliver the training. You can even record someone reading a script, and HeyGen can use that person's voice to create future content. The possibilities for personalized training are incredible. For companies like ours that are striving to become Best-in-Class, quality training is essential. Historically, creating professional training videos has been expensive, time-consuming, and difficult to maintain. HeyGen changes that equation completely. As a content marketer, I use HeyGen mainly to translate video content from Russian into English, and it has become a very valuable part of my workflow. The feature I use most often is video translation. I work with social media content, and HeyGen helps me quickly adapt videos for an English-speaking audience without having to reshoot everything or spend extra resources on a separate production process. In my case, the translation quality has worked well every time I used it. The final videos looked natural enough for social media, and the result was ready much faster than a traditional translation and voiceover workflow. The biggest benefit for me is efficiency. HeyGen allows me to create bilingual video content much faster, which is especially important when working with regular social media updates. Instead of producing separate videos for each language, I can take one Russian video and quickly prepare an English version. This has helped improve our social media workflow, save time, reduce production costs, and make content available to a wider audience.
