The best thing about postgres is how easy it is to install it on your computer, where heroku gives you your credentials and you are already connected, you do not have to configure many things regarding ports, it is also very friendly with its interface with options that make it easy to make queries to your heroku tables, you can update and see in real time what is happening with the data and your tables and you can make any sql statement Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What I don't like about heroku postgres is the fact that heroku gives you this compatible tool to communicate with your database made by heroku, there can be differences when you make your app in any programming language where you use frameworks that interact with the database engine and this as it is postgress some versions are updated when you upgrade your database to a paid one or another tier bigger than the one you had it becomes tedious to reconfigure if you change the version of postgress. Heroku is known for its cloud features and services with the best user interface and easy to use service. Its free or trail feature to deploy your postgres database in this Heroku server is at it's best. Even though it has got its best in form of user interface it comes up with lot of non mandatory fields to configure for a simple configuration and it doesn't support more connections for trail users for one server. It is a must-try service for a company as well as new developers. It is free up to some extent, and the good thing is a free user can also create manual backups and export its data.
