## About Heap by Contentsquare
Heap by Contentsquare is a Product Analytics platform that automatically captures every user interaction on your website or app — no manual event tagging, no developer dependency, no data gaps. Founded in Silicon Valley in 2013, Heap was acquired by Contentsquare in 2023 and is now fully integrated as Contentsquare's Product Analytics capability. With Heap by Contentsquare, product, data, and marketing teams can instantly answer questions like: - Where are users dropping off in a funnel? - Which features are actually being adopted — and which are being ignored? - What drives retention and long-term loyalty across devices and sessions? - What's the user journey from first visit to conversion? What makes it different: Autocapture — every click, tap, and interaction is recorded automatically from day one, with no pre-planned instrumentation needed Funnels, paths, retention & segmentation — the full product analytics toolkit, out of the box Website icon Session replay — jump from a data point directly to a recording to see the "why" behind the numbers Sense AI — ask questions in plain language, get proactive insights, and auto-quantified impact Connected to the full Contentsquare platform — combine Product Analytics with DXA heatmaps, error monitoring, and Voice of Customer (Hotjar surveys) for a 360° view of the customer experience Data Connect — sync your autocaptured data directly into Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift Website icon Whether you're optimizing onboarding, validating a new feature launch, or understanding what keeps users coming back, Heap by Contentsquare gives you a complete and retroactive picture of user behavior — so your team spends less time hunting for data and more time acting on it.

## Heap by Contentsquare Reviews
 ### 1. PM 1 year using Heap

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I like how easy it is to transition to event visualizer, create new definitions, or maybe look at the week's behavior on a certain element.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I don't know when the data in my reports updates. It seems like if I add a report to the dashboard, it only gets updated in the morning.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

If what you are looking for is funnel analysis, Heap is a strong tool.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using heap to determine which parts/features of the app are getting the most traffic. We are also going some conversion and funnel analysis with it.

 ### 2. Very nice experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It's straightforward for you to see the user journey in Heap for both individual users and aggregated groups. And it helps us pinpoint how we could improve our UI/UX and provide a better customer experience on our website.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I can't think of any at this moment. Support was very responsive and helpful as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Highly recommended. Easy to build customized dashboards based on your needs and helps you better visualize your user journey.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly user journey/pinpoint frictions, etc.

 ### 3. Fulfils Basic Analysis

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I like different visualizations that I can easily create in the UI.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

There are certain limitations on how I want to create the reports with different segments and aggregation. On some occasions, I have to export the data and do that in Excel.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to determine the peak views on certain pages and determine whether that is expected. We were able to evaluate the most populate pages viewed and how that meets our expectation.

 ### 4. Heap is great..very transparent and easy to use..I would really recommend.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tenee A. | Compliance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Information is clear..easy to understand and great for everyday use

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Not much that I disliked as expressed in what I mostly like about the application

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everyday customer issue.. Locating and analyzing information

 ### 5. Great enterprise analytics resource with supportive customer support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy G. | UX Designer / Senior Art Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I think that the platform does a great job at capturing user sessions in video and allowing you to isolate specific behaviors. The customer service has been also spot on. Very attentive team at the enterprise level and when there are questions about research validation, they shared quality documentation to help support our UX efforts.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

There is some learning curve to using the platform, getting started and sharing meaningful insights with the team and there are so many pathways to slice-and-dice. It would be helpful if there were some standard parameters to make high level analysis a little easier.

Also, I'm often pulled in a lot of directions in my current role. It would be great if there was some automation if the platform predicted some insights that I (or the business) might find interesting to consider.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Its a powerful platform that can integrate with other analytic resources to centralize insights. It may be helpful to get 1:1 support as the team is getting started to build up experience in building data sets.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team is trying to solve optimization challenges upstream in our ecommerce product. The platform is really good at pinpointing the specific interactions through heat mapping.

 ### 6. Love Heap

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cait A. | H, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap is intuitive and fills the gap of many other web analytics tools, but also works with many existing tools (such as Marketo and Google Analytics).

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It's a bit hard to switch to thinking about user-based analytics and sometimes require new events to be defined. Luckily, to define events, the system is super intuitive and marketing-friendly. There is also a limit to how many refinements you can make to a query; this requires multiple reports to be pulled to dig into any issues found.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We optimize channels for 5-month ROAS; Heap provides tracking customer cohorts over a period in time in a very practical way where segments can easily be layered and shared with the team.

 ### 7. Easy interface and fast results

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It was super easy to find the custom events that I have, as well as some of the other heap tools available. It was fast to compile the data and easy to use for someone who doesn't use tools like this often.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Nothing really to call out as of yet, great tool!

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looking to track product usage to inform our roadmap and validate customer problems and use cases.

 ### 8. Makes me a more independent product manager

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

- Being able to define events on my own
- The fact that events are retroactive

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

- It could definitely be easier to define an event
- It's unclear what it takes to enable an independent engineering team to add attributes to cut by

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Use the support team, they are great!

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Feature adoption
- Feature conversion
- Feature research -- who's using what? who should I contact?

 ### 9. Easy to use and flexible Product Analytics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Building queries and reports is easy and straight forward but what I sets them apart is that you can create events on any UX element and get the historical data on that once the event is created. In addition, any user can define UX events which is really helpful and reduces implementation cost. Reporting is very robust. Overall Heap is a powerful tool and some of their more recent features like Retention analysis match what is available with Amplitude and other more expensive analytics tools. It's built for both Product Managers and growth marketers and both find it easy to use. The data management aspects and integrations are alsy very useful.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Their pricing model is based on user sessions which can be a pain to manage and may not align with your business. They just recently switched to unlimited users which makes it easier to share data and reports across the company. The dashboards are a little clunky. They don't have ability to do single metrics or custom metrics other than simple ratios.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Consider your implementation time and switching costs with product analytics. Also consider integration with onboarding tools like Appcues vs. an all in one solution like Pendo. Finally, make sure the pricing scales with your growth goals.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking usage of new features, viewing behavioral patterns of users, improving acquisition and retention of users and analyzing business impact of product changes.

 ### 10. Does what it can for the price

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phil C. | Sr Product Manager, Growth, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

There is no doubt the time to insight is shorter than other tools that require manual event implementation. That being said, I'm finding developers getting involved anyways when trying to tag the events, so the only real value outcome is historical data once you've setup the tracking.

I do appreciate the way Heap is positioned because it can be an MVP for a "customer metadata source of truth"; the downside is to connect to your tools you have to pay for each and every tool you integrate with (its cost-prohibitive to connect all your tools -their pricing strategy is hurting them here to be a really sticky product).

An area outside the product that they shine is heap university - I've leaned on that heavily as we roll out the software to our teams, and it takes the load off of me to do all the training.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The implementation has been lack luster, and its provided by a 3rd party company with sometimes slow turnarounds. I had hoped for a much more active implementation phase but it's really just us on our own with infrequent check-ins.

The value you can get out of the product interface really falls down against an Amplitude which is a powerhouse in contrast. Amplitude is more expensive though, so I do see heap delivering on the value they charge for.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We ended up using it right away for an obscure use case which really solidified the need for a product analytics tool (but not necessarily Heap - just the need for that level of product insight). As we continue to roll it out, Heap will be instrumental in our Growth efforts to glean insights off usage to better activate, expand, and retain our cusotmers.

 ### 11. Its best, but it can be better!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Details, it hones in every nook and corner of your app. Features that I like the most \ Segments, Passing events, User paths

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Visualizer, Please, plese better it. I have worked with amplitude and it kills the way it does.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving user problems such as increasing video views, betterin user experience through user paths taken and just bettering the world for our users in general.

 ### 12. Excellent tool to quickly visualize your user journey

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raeann K. | Growth Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I like how easy heap has made it to tag events in your product. You can quickly name all events and create funnels to visualize how users are using your product.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I wish heap allowed you to watch user sessions live or recordings similar to other tools. It's excellent for quick analytics, but not if you're looking for more visual data, such as what users are looking at on the page or what they are doing before taking the action you have tagged.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Heap allows us to visualize our customer journey, identify problem areas where users are falling off, and gather session information that we typically couldn't find with other tools.

 ### 13. Heap helps our product analytics to keep up with our product, without slowing us down

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Trevor F. | Data Scientist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap's ability to capture critical events before we know to define events for them means our analytics needs don't get in the way of engineering product development. The easy data sync capabilities allow us to integrate our user behavior data into our analytics workflows seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap's in-app analytics tools can have their limitations or sometimes be inflexible, but in those cases we are always able to make use of the raw sync'd data to get at what we need.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Heap to pair user-level data and metrics to client and advertiser growth and success on our platform, enabling us to identify and encourage behaviors that lead to successful experiences in the platform.

 ### 14. Very intuitive and useful tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Data Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I find Heap to be a very valuable asset in our Website analytics team. The UI is very intuitive; the connection to our data warehouse was easy to setup and update and overall the quality of the data that we receive from Heap is very good with minimal data loss.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I have no main complaints with Heap. I think potentially the one thing that comes to mind would most likely be creating better Tutorial or 'How to Use' docs for ramping up new team members to Heap.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Potentially there are additional use cases of Heap beyond our current use. It would be interesting to chat with the Heap reps to see the new use cases that they are rolling out.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem we are solving is dynamic product impression data. We use Heap to capture impressions of products that are only served to customers as they scroll through our sight. This is used to help create more in-depth metrics about product performance

 ### 15. Game changer for our Product AND Marketing Teams; Never going back to GA!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

We love how Heap auto-captures all event data without requiring prior definition on our back-end. This frees up our valuable engineering resources to go focus on higher priority initiatives.

The reporting console is self-explanatory and also enables our team members who are less technical savvy or not versed in SQL to build reports on their own without requiring assistance from more technical team members.

Visualizations are also key for us. The standard event visualizations in the Heap dashboards make the charts and reports easy for our teams to share out to leadership.

We have Heap installed on three separate sites. First is our corporate website, second is our customer portal, and third is our internal SaaS platform used by our coordinators. Heap enables us to track event data across all three without having to worry about data crossover between the platforms. It also allows us to maximize our ROI by sharing our costs across multiple projects.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Very little. The training time was minimal for Heap.

I wish there was more self-service training for new team members, as I currently spend 1-3 hours training each additional team member that wants to utilize Heap. If Heap hosted live recurring onboarding sessions for new team members, that would free up additional time for me to spend on my primary role as a product manager. These sessions could be hosted on a monthly cadence, for example.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously, we had not invested in event analytics due to the high engineering cost of implementing each event definition via Google Analytics. We were "flying blind." Heap solved this for us by effectively replacing the engineering function of defining each event definition.

Since Heap captures all events automatically after the initial Javascript implementation, we're able to retroactively define events and run historical analysis without having to worry about defining a new event upon implementation.

We also didn't understand user behavior well on our customer-facing platforms. Heap helped us better understand the most commonly performed functions on our platform, and analyze them further. We realized that customers were performing extra clicks to copy ID's in our customer portal, which was also causing them to switch between screens more commonly. This level of insight led us to implement a new copy widget on our platform, which reduced customer clicks by 2/3 and reduced time to complete the same task by 50%. Such a user study would have taken a month of manually scheduled user tests to complete, but Heap enabled this study via software.

 ### 16. 1 ups Mixpanel, allows team to self serve their own data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eli O. | Director of Marketing Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The auto-tracking is irreplaceable. There were so many times over the years where I forgot to track an event in GA or Mixpanel. With Heap, I never have to worry about missing something -- and not even that, these events are tied to product actions and revenue.

I'd add that the Heap University training is one of the best product trainings I've been apart of. I was able to learn my way through Heap in an afternoon.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It's an enterprise product, so buying it, getting it set up took quite a bit of time across all teams. They were great helping. Our AE, Tim, was excellent. We'd buy again, but it's a bit more than adding a simple script on your site, especially if you want custom properties, or have multiple domains.

There's not much to dislike. They do a great job at onboarding, training, and the support is friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Heap can be a costly tool; however, in time saved, it's worth it. Not needing engineering to tag events or forgetting to tag gets expensive. We firmly believe Heap is worth the cost in time saved, not to mention in optimizations that will create more revenue.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using Heap on our marketing site and inside our web app. Our product managers have used it to test theories. They're able to self-serve their data without needing an engineer. Our marketing team uses heap for CRO. Our content team uses Heap to test product CTAs in our content. Our content team has been able to drive more trials by optimizing the CTAs we have tracked.

 ### 17. Amazingly intuitive product and a phenomenal customer service and team behind it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It's hard to pick between the product and the team, but I'd say that Heap's customer service team is one of the most significant contributors to the positive user experience I've had so far. All of the solutions engineers that I've come across through my support tickets have been nothing but helpful, responsive, and thoughtful, not to mention competent at problem-solving. That said, Heap itself is a great product so I haven't had any frustrating experiences using it - I've only had to reach out to support when I wanted to use Heap in a particular way and needed assistance on implementing it.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I think there could be a slightly steep learning curve to build reports and create custom events, but I think that comes naturally when you build such a powerful product that's meant to be used by technical and non-technical folks alike. The phenomenal account team compensates for this by offering free training and support.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We rely on Heap tremendously for our reporting and data analytics. It's been helpful for me as a non-data analyst to self-serve my data needs by quickly pulling in data or perusing user information for tidbits of insight.

 ### 18. Thank you Heap!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I love the views, I love how you can easily swap out the channel to assess growth in different areas. I also love that Heap easily lets you filter between different
UTM sources, different channels, and different creative terms. Heap is able to display the data in multiple forms. I love being able to toggle between the graph, chart, and table views. Something else that's super helpful about Heap is that you can easily view data in different windows of time. You can set your look back window to 7 days, 30 days or choose your own custom window. Heap makes it really easy to share reports between team members and save reports for team members to reference later on.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It's a bit of a steep learning curve, it isn't as user-friendly as I hoped. Because it took me a little while to get a good handle on Heap I wish there were more tutorials or maybe even a chat function where I could speak to a representative about a problem that I'm having and they would be able to help me. I have contacted Heap via email before when I was having a problem and needed further assistance and while they were really helpful it would've been great if I could've gotten a more immediate answer. Something about Heap that could definitely be improved is the loading speed. I feel like Heap occasionally crashes or takes a really long time to load. Faster loading speeds would be great for getting access to data more quickly and to be able to make business decisions in real time.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Heap is so helpful to assess data quickly and easily. It has supported me in so many business decisions and I'm grateful to have it at my fingertips!

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to see metrics in real time and make business decisions quickly and efficently based on Heap data. The beneifits that I've realized with Heap is that I can marry Shopify data directly with Heap so I can see revenue metrics and assess the performance of each place in our marketing funnel. I'm able to solve problems like garnering data that I wasn't able to tap into in other places and really get to the root of performance in each of our channels.

 ### 19. Giving the best in customer service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Dealer Support Specialist II, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

What I like best about this product is the ability to preview what the customer has done so that I can help them understand the proper way to complete the process and provide exceptional customer service to their own external or internal customers.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

So far after using the product for a short period of time, nothing has stood out that would make me dislike the product or its features. I think as time goes on, there might be some minor tweaks, but as of right now and what I use it for, it is a very powerful product.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to see what my customers are doing before I actually get on the phone and troubleshoot the issues with them. I can go back and see in real-time the events that lead up to the issue or situation. By doing this, it has given me the ability to provide more accurate and timely information or training to my customers to help or avoid situations.

 ### 20. Does the trick

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

We can see insights into user behaviors, etc.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Some of the reports provide a limited view; for example, sometimes you can't use the graph feature if you have multiple things you want to visualize.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to see if we're moving our metrics in the right direction.

 ### 21. Excellent Analytics Tool for Anyone

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I can get very granular in terms of the purchase funnel by any category or SKU level to really understand what is working and where our opportunities lie

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It is complicated to figure out all of the functionality, but the user guides are very hepful.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Where our customers are falling off and certain parts of the funnel where people get stuck.

 ### 22. Great for diving into user actions (especially for non-engineers)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Will E. | Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap makes it really easy to get quantitative analyses into how customers use your product and where they are dropping off. Using Heap's Event Visualizer, you can check usage of button clicks/actions for every element on your site which is super helpful and enables anyone on your team to analyze user data without necessarily needing to wait for a Data Scientist to run an analysis for them.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I wish there were faster ways to run analyses in Heap of integrated actions. To really get into the analysis process, you need to define events for every single action and categorize them before you can start them in analyses. As a result, the learning curve for Heap is high outside tech savvy employees willing to invest the requisite time to learn and use the software.

Event Visualizer is also a great tool but I often run into issues with it working because of AdBlocker or trying to test outside of Chrome.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Heap to identify specific user cohorts based on actions they're taking to contact for user interviews. In addition, I often use Heap to dive into understanding where users are dropping off in product experiences to understand where we can iterate to further improve the user experience.

 ### 23. Great for building quick reports in order to answer questions promptly

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather K. | Senior Digital Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

With Heap, I'm able to quickly run reports and provide metrics on the fly. My colleagues appreciate not having to wait a long time for answers. They credit me with that, but I tell them it's because Heap is so easy to use. It's also been easy to define events myself using the Live Visualizer. Creating funnels is one of my favorite ways to analyze and it's been helpful for my customers too, as it allows them to easily see points of confusion or frustration with checkout, customer registration, etc.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

One thing I dislike is the lack of options or flexibility for the graphs and formatting. For example, for ratios and percentages, I'd like to be able to choose how many places past the decimal to show. For graphs, I'd like to be able to change the title, colors for lines/bars, etc. It all boils down to making it more visually appealing for my customers and easier for them to understand. I routinely bring the data into Tableau or Excel so I have more flexibility.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Check out the Heap 101 and 102 courses to learn more. Also, talk to other companies/analysts who have used Heap and other tools.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem I'm helping to solve is lack of understanding of different user profiles on our ecommerce sites. Heap has helped us uncover lots of insights to further our knowledge, which of course leads to more questions. We've been able to easily find points of friction or significant drop off in some tutorials and the checkout process. As a result, we implemented changes and noticed improvements.

 ### 24. User-friendly & reliable product analytics!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liane L. | Customer Success Operations Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The fact that I do not have to rely on engineering resources in order to create new tracking events in our product is game-changing. I also love the fact that Heap's data is reliable & trustworthy. I know that whatever report I run will accurately reflect our users' activity on our platform. Our CSM has also gone above and beyond with speedy responses, creative thinking when it comes to different challenges, and has shared best practices that her own team employs to monitor customer health & usage.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Not so much a dislike, but there is so much that you can do in Heap that it is sometimes overwhelming. I feel like we've barely scratched the surface in terms of the variety of reports we can build.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our Customer Success team is using Heap to monitor usage & adoption across our customer base on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Our Product team is using Heap to also measure adoption and better understand what areas of the platforms are being used or not used.

 ### 25. Heap BigPanda review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle W. | Sales Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Happy with this product, this allows me to gain insight on how users are interacting with our platform, what actions they are taking.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

There is not direct way to query the exact clicks that users are taking in the platform, I have to build an ugly sql query to surface this information

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

User engagement and user activityb

 ### 26. Heap is a game changer for web marketing anlaytics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laci L. | Senior Growth Marketing Manager, Website, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap tracks all interactions with your site at all times, so there is no need to set up individual events for everything upfront. I often will think of a new event to track and it is so nice to be able to create the event and have retroactive data at my fingertips.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

There are very few faults. The only thing I wish was better was the dashboard views. I would love more flexibility in the number of reports I can include and the size of the reports within the dashboard.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

There is a bit of a learning curve if you are new to Heap, but they have a fantastic training video series called Heap University. It is a great way to learn the basics then just dive in and you'll figure out the reports that are most useful to you over time.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I primarily use Heap to understand conversion funnels/pathways and user behavior. Heap allows us to go beyond the data Google Analytics provides to get a more granular look at what users are doing on our site. It helps up hone our user experience and identify friction in our conversion funnels. We also use the VWO integration which gives us more flexibility and granularity with our A/B testing reports.

 ### 27. Best onboarding plan for an analytics tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samantha M. | Product Owner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

* Great plan for helping you get up to speed and support for defining events
* Solid training materials (Heap 101 courses, FAQs, and Customizable Guides)
* Managed project plan to get live on schedule
* Custom events that can be added outside of a release schedule
* Retroactive event tracking for new custom events and definitions

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

* The initial implementation effort is still fairly high - it's just doesn't have to be an engineer to set this up
* Still want more on the reporting side, specifically around accounts and account health
* More visualization options on the reporting side would be great
* More examples of how to use Heap for a site that is not a Marketing site, eCommerce side, or a more traditional "funnel" based site

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Make sure to plan out the effort to define events up front. While this is much easier to do in Heap than in other tools, your success will depend entirely on how well you plan to support the tool and onboard your team successfully.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Heap to provide necessary insights into our customer segments, how they use our product, and whether they are maximizing the usage of their product. We're starting with our web application and plan to extend to our mobile apps in the near future. So far we're already seeing benefits from getting basic information while we refine down to the reports we need.

 ### 28. Heap - WSYWIG insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David B. | Chief Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap is incredibly user-friendly. It captures the vast majority of needed data immediately and, for front-end events, allows those data to be defined after-the-fact using a point+click tool. Collecting server-side events is also easy, and it integrates quickly w. aggregating tools like Segment.
Once you have all your sources set up, conducting analyses is as straightforward as it gets, and sharing/dashboarding those analyses is push-button simple. Their tooling covers everything from unique counts / sums / averages / minmax to funnels, path analysis, and influence analysis.
All of these features work easily across environments (eg dev & prod) allowing for analytics testing before deployment.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

You can only export 5k rows to excel, which limits our ability to conduct analysis outside of the tool without streaming to another DB for export.
Analysis by hour or date-cohort is also tricky inside of Heap, but this is really a value-add feature vs. a requirement.
Finally there are little finnicky pieces that need attention - for example, if you have set up filters / groups and then change the initial query parameters, those filters/groups need to be recreated. This is just a hassle, though, not a deal breaker!

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Heap is our primary external analytics tool. We use it for A/B testing, cohort analysis, funnel analysis - just about anything that doesn't require clicktracking video (e.g. fullstory), error feedback (e.g. logrocket), or highly multivariate manipulation (excel).
Having events replicate between dev & prod speeds up our ability to test, validate, and launch new features because we can guarantee that we'll have tracking on them when they're live.
Being able to easily share dashboards & analyses keeps the entire team on the same page, and being able to annotate those views ensures that details / nuances are easily surfaced.

 ### 29. Source research candidates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaitlyn G. | Senior UX Researcher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I love coming into Heap and being able to pull research candidates out of workflows for surveys and interviews. I also love being able to target users who are dropping off of workflows and not only get the quant metrics on it , but also get the names, emails, and user flows/clicks they've done. In the past I would have to talk to a developer and have them query SQL to get this information which took time and also didn't add much detail/color to the data. We use the reports to create dashboards so the Product Management team can track key performance indicators and report back to all the stakeholders involved.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Its complicated to set up flows and segments. Sometimes I'm not sure if I've got it working to that the numbers are accurate. I don't feel advanced or confident enough to create flows. I also am not a fan of adding hashtags or playing with the code. I can, but I don't like to because its not primary to my job.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Making it easier to build user flows.
Move away from the code part of it as devs are not the users of the platform at my company.
Otherwise I'm totally in love with the tool

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using Heap to track user journey and flows - its' the replacement for Google Analytics for us. We're also bringing in SalesForce data to help use source candidates for surveys, interviews, or unmoderated research studies. We recently purchase Appcues for in-app messaging and research and though it has its own metric tracking, it doesn't give information on WHO submitted each answer. So we've integrated with Heap to get that info.

 ### 30. User-friendly visual analytics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer T. | Product Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The plug and play aspect of the application is the best part - it saves your data before you even know what you want to analyze! Flexible options for visuals and tables to let you both easily view high level and dig in to the details. The interface is intuitive and the product is easy to learn how to use. Plus, they regularly update with new looks and features!

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It can sometimes be challenging to drill down to what I need to see, but the application I use Heap for is extremely complex with a lot of moving parts so that is mostly on my end. Reports are very easy to use, but I think that in some cases the navigation and update options could be more intuitive and flexible.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am finding where our customers are encountering site errors, and where they are dropping out of the funnel between arriving at our site and completing their order. Primary benefit I have gotten out of Heap is the ability to create custom API elements focused around new features that we add to our application to provide easy insights into whether they resonate with customers or not.

 ### 31. Best tool for cross-platform product analytics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anna M. | Guest Professor at MBA and Pre-MBA programs, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It is easy-to-install due to autocapture of events feature.
No code is needed, no need to predefine events that we want to track.
Heap tracks not only clicks but also page views, submits, sessions and changes.
They have an education platform Heap University to upgrade analytical skills.
Their Sales and Customer Success are very responsive, patient and happy to help at any stage of onboarding process.
The pricing is not the lowest but still more affordable than some other tools on the market.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I can't say there is much to dislike, only minor things:
As any analytical tool, it takes some time for learning and adopting a tool.
It doesn't have autocapture for desktop native apps.
Heap doesn't work with the latest Jetpack compose yet.
The roles defined in Heap for managing it are not very clear and require additional explanation.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

If you have multiple apps, Heap will be your go-to solution and most valuable spent for the budget.
Use their trial to see how easy it is to install and use and I'm sure all your teams will be happy to use it as well.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team was looking for a cross-platform solution that allows us to track our users from their acquisition to churn, see how they move between platforms, switch paid plans, adopt features and become inactive and answer the main question of WHY.
Once installed we have immediately seen how valuable this information can be not only for the product team, but also for developers, sales and marketing.
While selecting a tool we had some concerns about the efforts that would be needed in order to install and support such add-on to our platform, but in fact, our development team has been super-excited to see how easy it is. It also allowed us to remove some other tools that we've been using before because now we can have one source of truth.
Now, when launching a new feature, we no longer need to wait for Analytics department to come up with certain metrics or for developers to set up events before the release, all this happens automatically.

 ### 32. Developer friendly Analytics Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan David G. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

what I really enjoy about using Heap is to know how/where the data is collected from the interface (be able to see the HTML selectors involved in each event) or the user session that makes it easier to make sure that every event is tracking the interaction that you expect

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The report types available are great (Graphs, funnels, etc) and the interface to build your report is easy to use but sometimes it's hard to create more advanced reports using regular expressions or grouping more than 3 attributes of an event, I know there are some performance concerns but I have felt limited with the current interface for advances queries

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

if the developer use good practices to create the HTML and CSS it is easy to create events without code changes and they are as reliable as a custom event by code and be able to create and analyze events with retroactive information

 ### 33. Super helpful, takes time to learn

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachel G. | Expert Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap shows you what your users are doing in a way that doesn't feel too invasive. Once you understand how to use it, it's powerful.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It takes time to learn and there is some lingo/ jargon that you need to know (mostly web dev stuff) to use it effectively. They have great learning tools, but you have to be willing to put in the time to learn.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are investigating how our users interact with our product and especially how we can improve our new user conversion. We have been able to pinpoint moments when we lose people and make product improvements that are backed by evidence.

 ### 34. Enterprise SaaS CSM review

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The ability to create custom events and clearly define what I am looking for

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The reporting is not as intuitive as I would like, creating some filters can be tricky

 ### 35. Great low-code option for setting up product analytics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy K. | Product manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Click-to-define event creation is a superpower and calculating historical funnels for new events immediately is unbelievalbe.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Funnels can be annoying to set up. Filters and views aren't always as clear and feel more tedious to create and modify than competitors like Amplitude.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to visualize our funnels and retention across multiple product groups. PMs can create funnels on their own with limited involvement from data and eng teams.

 ### 36. Easy to build and monitor reports

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Great platform for building reports/dashboards and tracking users in real-time.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The 'behavioral flow' reports could use improvement.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

You will need an engineer to define custom events for full functionality.

We use Heap to monitor our ecommerce site, check user paths to discover bugs, and to analyze the experiments we run on our site.

 ### 38. Auryc meets the unique needs for B2B Platforms

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean A. | Board Advisor - Accessibility and Product Strategy, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The support received at all levels is second to none. From the POC, business validation, implementation, and ongoing support. Our platform serves Dealers, lenders, and multiple integration partners. With the implementation of Auryc, we are able to better monitor the behavior of our users and have a pragmatic approach to improve the UX and workflows backed by data. The ability to drill down from the analytics directly into sessions gives new insights to take action. The capability to have sessions come through with user feedback enabled by the integration with Qualtrics is another key benefit of the platform. Our Client Success and Product/Engineering teams do not need to contact the customer in order to observe user and platform behavior.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

I would like to see more use cases with B2B companies in the future.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Auryc should be on the shortlist for B2C and B2B companies evaluating tools for getting closer to users and uncovering insights to drive decisions for product and business.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Removing UX friction backed by analytical data
* Ability to observe user behavior without having to travel to customer sites during COVID
* Site feedback that now has the session replay
* Giving troubleshooting teams the ability not to have to reproduce a behavior

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

There is less need for engineering to be involved when adding in UI items to track

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

It doesn't track the iFrame filters of my product, so it was more challenging to set up

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Understanding usage metrics of my product

Every single event is tracked and categorized; very simple for any team member (marketing, engineering, operations, etc.) to gain valuable insights from the tool.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The product requires a bit of prerequisite knowledge, which is easily attainable via Heap Unversity or from a Customer Success partner.

Funnel optimization, customer pain-points, unexpected behavior or site interactions

 ### 41. Overall intuitive interface, useful in helping me get insights

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Heap is intuitive and covers key use cases with regard to analyzing user behavior. I don't have to spend too much time getting started; everything feels automated and that helps me get to my deliverables as fast as possible.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Really slow loading times for some of my analyses - it also sometimes disconnects.

**Recommendations to others considering Heap by Contentsquare:**

Try out a demo and see if their features satisfy all your intended use cases

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to track the launch of new features within our product interface. The dashboard also auto-updates itself over time so in this week, I am able to access the latest view of what the metrics look like. From a reporting standpoint, this makes my job much easier - I am able to just share a link to the dashboard to my manager without having to update them manually.

 ### 44. I tried it out, somewhat complex, application focused, but not too complicated to integrate

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

The ease of integration was great; they have since come a long way with adding more sources via 3rd party integrations.
I liked the way how from the beginning in, it was focused on narrowing down your customer journey to finding the flow of conversions.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

They have since improved this, as initially, their pitch was somewhat confusing if they were competing with Google Analytics or not. They are strong competitors against Mixpanel and Amplitude. I would give Heap a try over any of these mentioned.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking user behavior without any fancy heatmapping tools. Analyzing their panel has been much more fun than through other tools.

 ### 45. All in one analytics tracking

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Not having to know which business questions you want/need to ask, you can go "back in time" to find data since Heap tracks all clicks on the page. Very easy to create funnels and analyze user behavior. Also a developer's dream without needing to add manual tracking tags to every element on the page.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**

Sometimes there is a delay when running a query if you use a date range that spans a few months as it takes time to crunch through all the data.

**What problems is Heap by Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looking at user engagement data, understanding which paths a user takes when they first land on a page.

**What do you like best about Heap by Contentsquare?**

What I like best about Heap is that it is quick to set up a report. Once we completed the initial setup, we're able to apply segments quickly to any of our reports. It is versatile and allows us to track all of the data points that we're interested in.

**What do you dislike about Heap by Contentsquare?**
