Health Connect solves the issue of connecting many disparate EHRs, each with their own custom formatting, at scale. Prior to transitioning to InterSystems Health Connect at my prior position, the number of interfaces/messages quickly became too much for the system to handle, requiring system downtime, new interfaces took much longer (5x) to implement, and maintenance time was drastically reduced (10x) with much better managed support. Like with any product, the initial setup can feel a bit heavy, especially if you’re new to InterSystems products. Getting productions, routing, and transformations configured correctly takes some time and attention. Once you move into high-volume environments, troubleshooting can become quite involved. What problems is InterSystems Health Connect solving and how is that benefiting you? It does what it says on the tin. At its core, Health Connect is about interoperability. We use this platform as the backbone of my organisation to provide a dedicated FHIR offering, enabling data exchange between the EHR and other clinical systems. The capability it provides has enabled our teams to deliver so much more. Health Connect gives you a structured way to route, transform, and monitor integrations, with full visibility so everything flows reliably between systems. In my view, it removes a lot of the complexity and risk from integration work. Instead of building and maintaining lots of custom point-to-point interfaces, you have a central platform that handles it properly.
