**What do you like best about HCL Connections?**

I like the file sharing element of the platform. If used correctly, it does allow for everyone to have the latest and greatest documents available across all organization locations.

**What do you dislike about HCL Connections?**

The search function essentially does not work if people do not set up tags. Tags take too long to coordinate , remember and add and if they aren't properlyadded, search is futile.

**Recommendations to others considering HCL Connections:**

Make sure that you train your teams extensively in how you want this to work. It is not really one of those products that you can learn by using.

**What problems is HCL Connections solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this platform to connect everyone in the organization and allow people to see who is on every team. I don't think there are many benefits, but maybe that's because we have not been properly trained, or enforced to use the product.

IBM Connections is really user friendly and efficient. It allows me to post real time statuses about my work day, I can see when people are busy or available or away, and it allows me to get in contact with coworkers instantaneously.

**What do you dislike about HCL Connections?**

The visuals and overall feel of IBM Connections seems to be outdated. Pretty small complaint to be honest though.

**What problems is HCL Connections solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication is something that is being solved. There have been multiple emails that need instant clarification due to deadlines and time and it allows me to give and receive real time feedback. Emails can be an issue, and IBM Connections overcomes that problem

**What do you like best about HCL Connections?**

IBM Cognos provides customized financial modeling solutions. Because of the flexibility given by algorithms created by the user, it can be used by a various number of different and connected cubes.

**What do you dislike about HCL Connections?**

The efficiency of the system droped as the amount of work developed increased. With a lot of cubes developed in the system, the company had to continuously increase the server capacity to prevent system lags.

**What problems is HCL Connections solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cognos IBM helped me a lot with Financial Planning, either modeling the financial statements to future forecasts and budgets, or helping the company to keep on track with the actual results, enabling detailed information about the recent financial results.

IBM Connections interfaces very well with MS Office. The web user interface is convenient and easy to navigate. 

**What do you dislike about HCL Connections?**

I haven't used this software in a while, but not being able to add any notes was irritating. Also, IBM Docs requires an ADDITIONAL license.

Document control and collaborations (both within the company and with outside vendors and consultants)

I think just getting started , as a user, can be a bit confusing without proper training.  But i think a lot of that just boils down to the person implementing connections

It is seamless and allows for more connectivity.  The functionality is great and user experience is great.

Nothing other than the fact that running the software is rough if your computer is not up to par and the internet speed if it is down.

Use the software in a way that is assisting the end user.  It is best used with the proper training and experience and skills to effectively initiate the use for the end user.

I experience connection issues relatively frequently and I feel like there are limited setting options.

No file transfer size limit when sharing documents or uploading for others to download around the world.

Sharing permissions were weird and you could not delete files that were old that previous coworkers had uploaded so it was confusing to people trying to access files.

Wait until the new design rolls out completely.

We were trying to share resources and documents that were large between lots of different people. Also we were trying to have a community where people could learn from each other remotely.

I really enjoyed at my previous employer the use of the communities.

I thought it was difficult to update the profiles within the UI. The interface was a little wonky.

Social outreach, social data basing. I enjoyed the benefits of being able to connect via social networking and that the platform was compatible with mobile.

**What do you like best about HCL Connections?**

It helped to make the aging Lotus Notes more useful by bringing more collaborative and non mail social tools into your work flow. It allowed for several different ways to connect and exchange data in a less formal context

**What do you dislike about HCL Connections?**

It tends to be a bit slow and makes the computer a lot slower compared to competing technologies. IBM overall has a disappointing and slow resource hog in notes which seems to be better but sort of still around in this product. 

**Recommendations to others considering HCL Connections:**

It makes Notes more useful, but not worth replacing established workflows probably
The extension of notes in such a manner makes it really useful overall, but I believe it is still built on the same codebase that Notes has run since 2007 and really slows down the underpowered workstations and laptops that are typically deployed in businesses.

The ability to create and share information and analysis for the operations center in order to formalize SoPs and other tools useful for many inputs on 

It does a really great job for workplaces that are beholden to using lotus notes for communications and can help in multiple ways for garnering supports and input from multiple team members for construction of knowledge bases or documents etc.

IBM Connections has been a great tool for making our office efficient again. It has several plugins that allow for any user to interface with IBM Connections in a way that suits them.

it can be tricky to find a folder that a team member made if it was made using a title that you wouldn't think to use.

**What do you like best about HCL Connections?**

Near 360 degree completeness covering social business (working social) needs for enterprise-wide collaboration.  Quite a paradigm shift for most users and for most company cultures, in which adoption only works with a well thought-our strategy, which includes starting with leadership.  Adoption will not happen via a grass-root alone.

**What do you dislike about HCL Connections?**

Complicated for many and newbies that don't "get" the value lift of working social.   Typical training doesn't account for the new skills to move from a newbie to a practitioner.   Adoption loosely defined around core-applications but and limited by one's imagination.  Core applications need to define with business use-case examples that inspire traditional way of working with new.  Adoption Strategy Drives need to be included with every business use case.  Plan for a marathon, not a sprint. .

You would think that IBM could come up with something better than basic Connections.

**What do you like best about HCL Connections?**

I really loved how I had so many tools on my hands while I used IBM Connections. When I developed a program, I could easily document it with the Wiki system. Even they offered me blogs so I could be in touch with my company's followers. 

I understand there's also the option to create a forum and social networks.

**What do you dislike about HCL Connections?**

I disliked the administration panel. I wish it was more intuitive for newcomers. Also they lacked variety of templates for wikis, blogs and homepages. In spite of that, everything was fine.

**Recommendations to others considering HCL Connections:**

There are lots of free alternatives, and IBM should only be considered when time is a problem. 

Consider well what are your business needs and time frame.

As my Software company started to grow, I had the need to have an image on the internet, so I found IBM Connections, and I could manage website, blog, wikis, everything with it.

It was a time-saving solution!

The feature I like the most about Connections is its File Managment. It is very easy to use and very useful for our day to day bussiness.

At the moment, you can not send private messages to colleagues. You can only use IBM Chat for this purpose

if you are looking for higher productivity and collaboration in your company, I recommend that you start working with IBM Connections.

connections has helped us to suppress all our internal email, which represents 60% of all daily inbox. Instead of sending an email attaching a file, we share it with connections. Instead of receiving an email with a task from our boss, we use connections' task manager to handle our daily activities. instead of forwarding long chains of emails to elaborate a document in common, we use IBM Docs to co-edit that document. Instead of discuss a subject or ask a question to a our co-workers, we use blogs and forums.

This product helps you with connecting with others in your field. In addition you can also reach other business fields.  The ability to interface with others is extensive.  The ability to talk and ask questions really expands the limits of you business.

I actually haven't found all that much that I don't like. I wish there more more people using this platform as well.  Its not as well known as other products.

This is great program to use.  It is growing in features and just keeps getting better and better!  I am looking forward to see what else they add to the features.  It is easy to find answers to your questions that others may have experienced by reading the blogs and forums.  The interaction with others has really helped to grow our business.

**What problems is HCL Connections solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A better questions would be what are we not solving?  Being able to communicate with others helps us gain insight on current issues and trends in the marketplace.  We can also communicate with others about what they think of our business and if there needs to be any changes.  I really like how you can create surveys to ask the questions that we really need honest answers to.
