Building the Boat whilst at sea..... **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Tom R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2023 **What do you like best about Hawksearch?** - The level of control over search results, and the merchandising/marketing potential of such control, is outstanding. - The ability for the engine to learn and "undersrtand what you are trying to accomplish" - Customization of your Search Results - They were great in implementing the Hawksearch engine on a production build of the site without major disruption. **What do you dislike about Hawksearch?** Caveat: We are heavily multi-tasking the launch and troubleshooting of a new multi-storefront website. - There was an initial disconnect about the sites being live and in production, instead of sandbox, but that was quickly overcome and solutions offered. **What problems is Hawksearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our initial Search Engine was BigCommerce, out of the box, with only partial built in support by the initial developement team, resulting in the broadest of results that had little to do with the initial search query. Hawksearch's engine, and its tools, lets us completely tailor the results that we want our customers to see when they enter a search query. ### 3. I especially like that we can tailor the results for individual search terms, easily set up synonyms, and design custom banners to show for specific search terms or results. Customer service is excellent as well! **What do you dislike about Hawksearch?** There are so many tools in the backend that it's easy to forget where things are if you don't use it very often. **What problems is Hawksearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** No problems! I find myself using it to navigate our website on a daily basis because of its ease and effectiveness. I'm a big fan of the boost/bury rules. The ability to pin items based on keywords and a wide, set of the functionality such as autocomplete and synonymous words is extremely helpful, especially in our industry where there are lots of acronyms used by our customers **What do you dislike about Hawksearch?** Some features may be confusing for first-time users but their documentation and training were very thorough and made using the system a very pleasant experience. **What problems is Hawksearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our previous search software had minimal features where customers had to type the exact phrase or keyword in to display results. With Hawksearch, we have been able to set up synonyms based on our customers' search habits. With Hawksearch, you have the ability to create synonyms, autocompletes, boost, and bury rules based on keywords used. As customers use the search, it gets smarter and delivers results based on previous searches. It also offers the ability to create marketing banners that are displayed based on the keywords the customer is searching to deliver quality results. It also has the ability to pin items to the top of the results which helps us to provide customers with the best search experience. ### 8. Customer search complaints have been drastically reduced. **What do you dislike about Hawksearch?** Like many vendors, we have had a few representatives over the years. Some have been great and others just OK. Reporting is a known area that needs improvement. **What problems is Hawksearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** Search results and autocomplete search bar dropdown results have greatly improved our customer experience. Widget (recommended for you, customers also like, etc.) are easy to optimize and configure at product page and cart levels. Recommendation engine is good as well. The administration portal is easy to use for non-technical people with a little training. The training and on-boarding process for Hawksearch is very attentive. Technical support is good as well. **What do you dislike about Hawksearch?** Documentation is not good for integration. No feature to pin feature products based on a certain page. This is in regard to the recommendation engine. If you have a particular product in the cart or on the product detail page, to then be able to pin other specific products. **Recommendations to others considering Hawksearch:** get it **What problems is Hawksearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** Being able to pin certain products based on a product for the recommendation engine.
