## About Harker
Harker is a voice-to-text app for macOS that transcribes on your own machine. Press a shortcut anywhere you type, speak, and clean text lands at your cursor - in an email, a Slack thread, a document, a terminal, or a code editor. The Whisper model runs locally, so your audio is never uploaded, and dictation keeps working with no internet connection at all. The free tier is unlimited: no word cap, no weekly quota, no trial clock, and no account required. How it works Hold or tap a global shortcut (Cmd+Shift+Space by default), speak naturally, then release. Harker transcribes on-device and inserts the text directly into whatever field the cursor is already in. There is no separate window to open, nothing to copy and paste, and no dictation mode to switch into. Free - $0, forever - Unlimited on-device transcription - Every Whisper model size, nano through large, so you can trade speed for accuracy as you prefer - Global shortcut and hold-to-listen activation - Auto-paste into any macOS app - 100+ languages with automatic detection - Personal dictionary for names, acronyms, and industry terms - Works fully offline, with no account and no sign-up Premium - $7/month, or $69/year ($5.75/month) Premium adds a cloud model that rewrites what you dictated. Only the transcribed text is sent, never the audio. That text is not stored and is not used for training. - Writing styles: Formal, Casual, Concise - Formatting: email, bullet points, meeting notes - Grammar and punctuation correction - Translation into any language - Custom instructions: persistent role, project, and style rules applied to every transformation 7-day free trial, no credit card required. How Harker is different Most dictation apps ask you to pick a side. Cloud-first tools have the stronger AI layer but stream your raw audio to a server and charge $10-15 a month for it. Local-first tools keep your audio private but hand back raw transcription, filler words and all. Harker splits it at the architecture rather than in the marketing. Audio is transcribed on your Mac and never transmitted. Only the resulting text is sent for AI enhancement, and only if you turn Premium on. Leave Premium off and Harker is a fully offline app. Who it's for Developers dictating prompts, commit messages, and code comments. Writers drafting long-form. Designers thinking out loud into AI tools. Consultants clearing an inbox by voice. Anyone managing RSI or wrist strain who would rather talk than type. Requirements macOS 12 (Monterey) or later on Apple Silicon. About 50 MB of disk. Microphone access. Windows is on the roadmap.

## Harker Reviews
 ### 1. A Daily Multilingual Workhorse for Development and Business Workflows

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles G. | Founder, CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Harker?**

I use it every day for both my development and business workflows, working in English and Japanese for my AI automation company. My son and I also used it to vibe-code his first iOS app. It works really well across multiple languages and for different users.

**What do you dislike about Harker?**

Sometimes I forget that it uses our copy-and-paste clipboard. It’s rarely an issue, but when I’m working on a few things at the same time, I sometimes lose whatever I had saved in my clipboard.

**What problems is Harker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Harker really speeds up my workflow by letting me speak AI prompts instead of typing them. It supports multilingual models, which is especially helpful for me since I need to work in both English and Japanese.
