"Effortless Load Balancing and Security with HAProxy"
What do you like best about HAProxy?

I have been using HAProxy for many years, mainly for load balancing, reverse proxying, and securing traffic . The initial setup was smooth, allowing us to add security features easily, such as WAF, which significantly decreased our applications' attack surface. HAProxy makes managing path and headers manipulation quick and easy with just a few lines of configuration. Its capabilities for affinity meet our simple load balancing needs perfectly. HAProxy also offers different APIs that are very useful when the complexity of the architecture increase. HAProxy's adoption is simple, quick, straightforward, and well-optimized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HAProxy?

For some specific header or path manipulation, HAProxy syntax can be quite tricky and needs some thinking to find issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have never in 10 years had any issue with HAPROXY. We use it to load balance our tom cats and occasionally lose a tomcat server but it is transparent to the user as they never see it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HAProxy?

Nothing it has always performed great. Never has the issue been with ha proxy, always the app server or db. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Journey from F5s to Community Edition and finally Enterprise Edition"
What do you like best about HAProxy?

The performance and manageability. You can use conventional configuration files and you can manage with an API. Community edition easily serves internal needs and is easy to install and configure. When considering production we need a cost efficient product that came with support. HAProxy Enterprise Edition (HAPEE) fits that bill. Our expensive hardware Load Balancers could do the job but at astronomical prices. HAPEE comes with a lot of modules out of the box for some advanced use cases. Creating a highly available pair of LBs or integrating in SAML to your auth flow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HAProxy?

I don't have much to dislike. For some the loss of a GUI will be upsetting but that's not a problem on my team. As of today there are no historical stats kept by the software. You can see realtime stats all day but it's on the user to pipe them into software to keep historical data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jakub Suchy of HAProxy

We really appreciate your detailed review. We have since released our Fusion Control Plane, which includes both historical stats and a GUI. Feel free to check it out! https://www.haproxy.com/products/haproxy-fusion-control-plane

"HAProxy Makes Life Easier"
What do you like best about HAProxy?

- High Performance: HAProxy handles high volumes of concurrent connections with low latency, making it ideal for high-traffic environments.

• Configurability: The configuration file is powerful and expressive. Advanced routing, ACLs, and SSL termination are straightforward to implement.

• Observability: Built-in stats page and integration with Prometheus make monitoring easy and transparent.

• Open Source & Community-Driven: Great documentation and a vibrant community. It’s reassuring to know you’re building on a trusted, well-maintained project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HAProxy?

Nothing that I dislike however with a tool like HAProxy the learning curve can be steep for newcomers. The configuration syntax, while powerful, takes time to master.

That said there is an amazing team behind the software which is very active with both the Community & Enterprise users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Nick Ramirez of HAProxy

Thank you for leaving such a detailed review of HAProxy! I'm glad that you've found it to have so many good features! And we're working to make it simpler to get started with.

"HAProxy Platform"
What do you like best about HAProxy?

HAProxy is highly reliable, fast, and efficient, making it a top choice for load balancing and high availability. I like its robustness, flexible configuration, and support for advanced features like SSL termination, health checks, and traffic routing. It's lightweight yet powerful, ideal for both small and large-scale deployments.

The customer support team is pretty good at reposnidng to any issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HAProxy?

While HAProxy is powerful and efficient, there are a few areas that could be improved:

Configuration Complexity: The configuration syntax can be unintuitive for beginners. More user-friendly tooling or a modern UI could ease adoption.

Observability: While it provides stats and logging, deeper built-in observability (e.g., native Prometheus support or more detailed metrics) would help with troubleshooting and performance monitoring Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about HAProxy?

We use HAProxy to load balance and stabilize on premise and cloud, environments, windows, and Kubernetes based applications. We’ve enjoyed the future set of the fusion control plane and all that it has to offer, gaining valuable insights into our application requests, front end, and back in statistics, and usage data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HAProxy?

We don’t dislike anything, just hungry for education around haproxy and additional feature training so we can funnily use everything offered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
