### 14. Fantastic Value with Best In Class Customer Service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek L. | Managing Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

We've been using HAProxy for around a decade, initially starting with the Community Edition and gradually expanding its footprint. We used industry-standard SLBs from major vendors, but the exorbitant price tags and outrageous support costs were becoming unsustainable. Two years ago, we leaped HAProxy Enterprise Edition (HAPEE) with the Fusion Control Plane (FCP), and it's been a game-changer.

Here's what we love:

Performance: HAPEE's performance is impressive. Even without leveraging hardware acceleration (which they support through Xeon Platinum chips), it easily handles our traffic load.

Stability: Since migrating, we've experienced rock-solid stability. HAPEE has proven to be a reliable workhorse.

Full configurability: HAPEE offers complete control and customization, allowing us to tailor it precisely to our needs.

Fusion Control Plane (FCP): The FCP has revolutionized our workflow, enabling full transactional changes across our clusters. This was a huge pain point with our previous solutions.

Unbeatable Support: This is arguably HAPEE's strongest point. The support team is phenomenal. They're available through Slack, providing near-instantaneous responses and practical solutions. We've dealt with companies charging 10x or 30x more for support that pales in comparison. HAProxy's support team sets a new standard.

Cost-Effectiveness: The pricing for HAPEE is significantly lower than any other comparable solution on the market. It's a breath of fresh air after years of being squeezed by our previous vendors.

Community Edition: We also utilize the HAProxy Community Edition for simpler micro-deployments, and it also excels in that role.

We've moved to HAProxy EE, and the cost/performance/support are so good we are not looking back.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

Honestly, there's not much to dislike, but the Fusion Control Plane (FCP) has some growing pains. While it does many things exceptionally well, it's still under active development, and occasional kinks need to be ironed out, or some things you would expect haven't been implemented yet.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it at the edge and in internal clusters along with with keepalive to balance traffic and provide redundancy.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> Thank you for writing this thorough review! It will help others to weigh the pros and cons.

 ### 15. Excellent TLS Termination Features

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

I like the TLS terminations and its load balancing features.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

I would a better UI for it. Perhaps a UI for non technical people would give more flexibility.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a Saas product with hundreds of thousands of customers. They Haproxy helps us manage the ssl certificates of each customer since some require more customization.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> Thank you for reviewing HAProxy! If you're looking for a UI, check out HAProxy Fusion. It provides dashboards, management over load balancer clusters, service discovery, and lots of useful features for large organizations.

 ### 16. Excellent HA Capability Enhances Reliability

 ### 18. İt manager

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suat C. | İt manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

What I like best about HAProxy is its robustness and flexibility in load balancing and proxying. It's highly efficient at distributing traffic across multiple servers, which improves application scalability and reliability. HAProxy also supports advanced features like SSL termination, sticky sessions, and health checks, making it ideal for managing complex, high-traffic environments. The level of configuration it offers allows fine-grained control over traffic management, which is especially useful for optimizing performance and fault tolerance. Plus, it’s open-source, so it’s accessible and customizable for different use cases.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

One downside of HAProxy is its steep learning curve, especially for those who are new to load balancing or have less experience with networking concepts. Its configuration files can become quite complex and difficult to manage for larger setups, especially when you have many backend services or advanced routing rules.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> It's good to hear that you've been successful with HAProxy. The learning curve is the most common dislike, and we're working on ways to improve our documentation and usability. Thank you for this feedback.

 ### 19. Cost savings moving from BIG-IP to Aloha

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cassidy M. C. | SRE & Linux Systems Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

We found significant cost savings and improved support moving from F5 BIG-IP to HAProxy Aloha. We're currently looking at deploying a WAF on-premises, an option we struggled with while under contract with F5.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

Certificate management features are sorely lacking and the Aloha appliances do not support HAProxy Fusion, an application we would very much like to test and potentially adopt in our organization for centralized management.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Significant cost savings over competing vendors as well as flexibility compared to hardware load balancing solutions. We're able to quickly deploy sites in HAProxy using either configuration language or a simple GUI for our less trained employees.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> Thank you for leaving this valuable feedback about HAProxy ALOHA!

 ### 20. Absolutely Amazing Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Navin S. | Senior Director, Cloud Customer Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

 ### 22. Excellent Ingress solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jithin X. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

We are using HAProxy as ingress solution in production environment and it’s responsible for routing all the micros service based and non micro services routes to respective services. In addition HAproxy helps to build our blue-green deployment using weight based routing.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

We are currently in process of moving to K8s, HAProxy k8s support is limited

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Primarily we are using HAProxy for load balancing and path bases routing and really helps to do the blue green deployment using weight based routing

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> For Kubernetes, you can either go the route of using HAProxy Kubernetes Ingress Controller, or HAProxy Fusion also has support for K8s.

 ### 23. HAProxy for Strict Latency Requirement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

HAProxy has really enabled Liftoff to simplify, scale, and secure our entire infrastructure. It’s helped us streamline our operations, handle growth with confidence, and ensure that our platform stays reliable and protected—all while giving us the flexibility to keep evolving for the future.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

HAProxy’s configuration can be complex for beginners, and making changes often requires a full reload rather than seamless, dynamic updates. Additionally, its built-in monitoring and SSL certificate management are less user-friendly compared to some modern alternatives.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HAProxy solves the problem of efficiently distributing incoming network traffic across multiple servers, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability for web applications. This benefits users by minimizing downtime, improving application performance, and allowing seamless scaling as demand grows.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> Thank you for reviewing HAProxy! And for leaving this feedback.

 ### 24. Versatile and Easy to Use, Hassle-Free Configuration

 ### 26. fast and flexible

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

It's fast, and has a lot of power and flexibility.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

The configuration language is bespoke and has a relatively high learning curve.

Currently no good options if you need FIPS compatible TLS at scale with good performance on an LTS release (although that isn't entirely haproxy's fault).

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Load balancing, routing to the correct service (currently with hub and spoke model), for redirecting and rewriting requests before directing yo backend services, for ensuring security related headers are added to all responses, also used in some cases to protect sensitive endpoints.

HAProxy has served us well for over a decade.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> We're bringing new options for TLS library support, so please check back!

 ### 27. HAProxy load balancing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

The granularity of control and the extra features that HAProxy has added to their HAProxy ALOHA offering are fantastic and really augment the base use-case of the HAProxy software as a whole.

There are plenty of information/wizards for initial implementation that really provide a great user experience.

HAProxy support is incredibly quick to respond and overall very helpful and knowledgeable.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

The web UI could use a bit of an overhaul in terms of features implemented.

A lot of the more granular controls are difficult to implement in the non-text-based part of the web UI. Along with that, the web UI itself is a bit clunky but still very usable and provides a lot of very good information.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Migrating from VMware NSX to HAProxy. HAProxy provides more information and more granularity of control.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> Thank you for leaving a review. HAProxy ALOHA will receive improvements for usability, and we thank you for providing your insights.
