## Gusto Reviews
  ### 1. Easy, Budget-Friendly Payroll App with Helpful Support and Fast Chat Navigation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Easy to use and integrates well with Jobber. The app has been a great resource for our team, especially for accessing paystubs and everything related to that within the app. For what we’re getting, the price feels right and fits within our budget and metrics. Support and ai chat has also been super helpful; we recently needed to rush a payroll, and they got it done for us with no problem. Also the performance of quick navigation via the chat has been a game changer

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Recently had an error on a payroll where a salary employee's relative hourly rate was way off in the pay. This was something we could have checked before submitting but because of how consistent salary employees are paid that would hardly ever be something our team is checking to ensure is correct

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing pay to our employees is obviously a big one, but also documentation and record keeping, as well as w2s at the end of the year for the whole team. Onboarding and offboarding is a breeze and can be delegated to the new employee - super simple.

  ### 2. Gusto Makes Payroll Effortless—Just Hit Approve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** dallas m. | business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really enjoy how convenient the Gusto platform is, and how it basically does all the work for you when it comes to payroll. I’m a proud owner of three different businesses, but with that pride also comes being extremely busy all the time. The last thing I have time for is sitting down to manually type in a bunch of numbers to submit payroll every week and then hoping I don’t make any mistakes. With Gusto, I don’t have that added stress anymore because it tracks my employees’ hours, automatically enters that information into the system, and runs payroll for me. All I have to do is hit approve each week, and to me that is a blessing.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I honestly don’t think there’s anything I dislike about Gusto. I’ve tried several different payroll systems over the years, and I can say hands down that Gusto has been the best—and it’s become my personal favorite platform.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps solve my time-management issues with its automated payroll features, which free up more time in my schedule so I can focus on other important things across my three businesses.

  ### 3. Streamlined Payroll and HR, Stress-Free Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sherri D. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I find Gusto excellent, easy, and quick for payroll and HR solutions in my business. The platform is easy to use, saves me significant amounts of time, and makes processing payroll stress-free. I love how employee onboarding, tax filing, and benefits are all streamlined in one place. It's impressive how quick and easy it is to do payroll with Gusto. It makes things stress-free when I hire new employees and have to file tax filings, as Gusto handles it for me. The initial setup was easier than I expected, with everything straight organized and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

N/A

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes payroll and HR operations stress-free, saving time with easy-to-use features. It streamlines employee onboarding, tax filing, and benefits management in one place.

  ### 4. Fast, Intuitive Platform with Responsive Multi-Channel Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** BRENDA S. | Accounting % HR Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like having multiple customer service options—chat, email support, and a phone number. Response times range from immediate to within 24 hours, which is much quicker than our previous provider. Navigating the product is intuitive and quick to maneuver through. Onboarding new hires is a breeze and can easily tell where the employee is in the process.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish it were available in Spanish. About 30% of our employees are much more comfortable managing systems in Spanish, and it would save me time if I didn’t have to translate so much.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Importing hours for field employees is a real time-saver. The provided template is easy to use, and the system integrates my payroll data smoothly without requiring me to make adjustments. Time-off accrual and tracking have been accurate, and it’s been simple for employees to manage and review their available balances. Overall, employees feel more comfortable using Gusto than our previous provider to track their time, request PTO, upload company expenses, and download pay stubs. They can find what they need quickly and easily through the app.

  ### 5. Simple and Effective Workforce Management Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I've been using Gusto for about three months as an employee and use it daily. One of the first things I noticed is how clean and easy the interface is to navigate. Everything is organized well, which makes it simple to find the information I need without wasting time searching through menus.

The features I use most often are the scheduling, time-off requests, and pay tracking tools. Being able to quickly check my schedule and request time off in one place is very convenient. My favorite feature is the pay tracking because it gives me a clear view of my earnings and payroll information whenever I need it.

Performance has been excellent. The platform loads quickly, responds well, and I haven't experienced any bugs, crashes, or downtime during the time I've been using it. Gusto also integrates with Google Calendar, which helps me see my work schedule more easily and stay organized.

Getting started was straightforward. Setup was quick, and I was able to begin using the platform without any issues. Since I'm an employee rather than an administrator, I haven't had much interaction with customer support or onboarding resources, and I haven't used any AI-specific features enough to comment on them.

Overall, Gusto provides a smooth and reliable experience. The clean interface, useful scheduling tools, Google Calendar integration, and easy access to payroll information make it a valuable part of my daily workflow. I would recommend it to other employees looking for a simple and user-friendly workforce management platform.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My overall experience with Gusto has been very positive, so I don't have any major complaints. If I were to suggest improvements, I would like to see more customization options for the employee dashboard so users could prioritize the information they access most frequently.

It would also be helpful to have additional details and insights within the pay tracking section, such as easier access to historical pay data and more visual breakdowns of earnings and deductions. While the current system is easy to use, these additions could make financial information even easier to understand at a glance.

Another area for improvement could be expanding calendar and scheduling features. The Google Calendar integration works well, but additional scheduling tools or notifications could help employees stay informed about upcoming shifts and schedule changes.

These suggestions are relatively minor, as the platform is already reliable, easy to navigate, and performs well in my day-to-day use.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps solve the problem of having important work information spread across multiple systems. Instead of checking different places for schedules, time-off balances, and payroll information, I can access everything from one platform. This saves time and makes it easier to stay organized.

The biggest benefit for me is the payroll tracking feature. Being able to quickly view my pay information gives me confidence that my hours and earnings are being recorded correctly. The scheduling and time-off tools are also valuable because they make it simple to see upcoming shifts and manage requests without needing to contact a manager for routine information.

Overall, Gusto streamlines communication and employee self-service, making it easier to keep track of work-related information and reducing the amount of time spent searching for it.

  ### 6. Seamless Payroll, Benefits, and Onboarding—Gusto Delivers Great Value

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Trista G. | Director of People and Compliance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Payroll is seamless with Gusto. The ability for benefits to be integrated in makes our processes more efficient. Onboarding works so well and is incredibly user friendly. When searching for a solution, Gusto was the best in terms of pricing for what we receive. I have been nothing but impressed with the platform.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There are a few items I wish would be integrated, specifically related to 1099s being able to utilize all the same features (time tracking via app, project codes, etc.) as W2 employees.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our old provider was lacking in every single aspect, and Gusto solves every single problem we had. We can onboard all in one system, our performance reviews don't have to live in a separate google drive. It encompasses everything we need.

  ### 7. Streamlined Payroll with Effective International Payments

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hudyakova I. | HR Support Level 2, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like using Gusto for the international contractor payment option. It's been a particular win for us because the process is simple and the rates are reasonable. It's convenient that it sits in the same dashboard as our domestic payroll, so nothing feels disconnected. For straightforward contractor relationships in various countries, this consolidation generally saves us from juggling separate international payment tools, and everything being under the same platform makes it really easy.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I want to see improvements with the international contractor payment option. The service is powered by Remote behind the scenes, and not something Gusto runs themselves. The country list is narrower than expected, with only about a dozen markets. When questions about local employment laws arose, there were delays due to a split support structure between Gusto and Remote, causing confusion about who owned the solution. This created delays when a fast and clear response was needed.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto removed the patchwork of separate tools for payroll, benefits, and onboarding, automating our payroll taxes. It streamlines domestic processes and simplifies international contractor payments, consolidating everything in one platform and saving us from juggling different systems.

  ### 8. Seamless tax compliance tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rodrigo F. | Payroll Administrator, Import and Export, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

We need to shift our thinking on employee payroll, employee tax compliance record keeping across various states, and Gusto did just that. Our accounting staff are able to create payroll with ease and with a few clicks with the friendly user interface. Automated filing guarantees that we only ever file tax returns that are 100% compliant with local and federal requirements.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Urgent matters are addressed at an exceedingly slow pace by the customer support team and detailed answers are not given. The custom reporting capability is very confusing and cumbersome; takes hours to navigate. This platform often glitches when we come to process end of month payroll in busy times. Importing historical employee information into the system is a labor intensive process that has lots of room for incorrect data entry.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our entire Human Resources operation is simplified, consolidated and housed in one easily accessed, and highly efficient, digital environment and platform with Gusto. We are able to save hours (or even weeks) each week with the software as it completely automates complex tax calculations and direct deposits. All paper documents about the new hire experience and benefits enrollment were removed.

  ### 9. Easy Payroll with Gusto, Always On Time

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** selena g. | Office Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to process my hours and get paid, and I love how easy it is to use and manage. It makes it easy for me to save money and get my paycheck on time. I enjoy how it helps me get paid a day early, so I don't need to wait until payday to receive my money. The initial setup was very easy, and it works well for me.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There's not really much i dislike about it, it works well for me.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to process my hours and get paid on time, making it easy to save money and receive my paycheck early.

  ### 10. Easy Payroll Automation with Great Reminders, Cross-Platform Access, and Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose H. | Office Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It's really easy to use, and I don't have to do payroll manually, which is a big plus. I also really enjoy the fact that my accountant can access it and work without trouble. The reminders and due dates when tasks are due are fantastic. Best thing for me is how I can access it on any platform and os. Customer service is great as well!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

When I try to use the Gusto app on my iPad, it doesn’t display properly, so I end up logging in through the browser instead. At times, I also get ads to try other software or applications that work with Gusto, which I think come from the recommendations section. Overall, I don’t have many dislikes; we’re a small company, and I suspect other issues may come up as the company grows.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes payroll easier and helps me keep track of when everyone gets paid. The best part is that it reminds me when tasks are due, and I can make changes to employees and other things effortlessly.

  ### 11. Gusto Makes Pay Stubs and Tax Forms Easy to Find

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The thing I like most about Gusto is that everything is just really easy to find. I mostly use it for things like checking pay stubs, tax forms, and payroll info, and I've never had to spend time digging through menus to find what I need. The interface is clean and straightforward, which makes a surprisingly big difference.

I also like that payroll and tax documents are all in one place. Whenever I need to check something or download a form, it's usually only a couple clicks away. Overall, it just does what I need it to do without being confusing or getting in the way.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One thing I don't love about Gusto is that it can feel a little detached at times. The platform is very streamlined and automated, which is great for efficiency, but it can sometimes make the experience feel impersonal. If I have a question about something payroll-related, it isn't always obvious where to go for clarification beyond the information that's already displayed.

That said, the platform generally works well. I just think there could be more context or guidance built into certain areas to make things feel a bit more connected and user-friendly.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m working my first internship this summer, and Gusto is supporting me by managing my payroll. It’s been beneficial because it made the onboarding process feel seamless and helped me transition into having a real job and receiving real pay.

  ### 12. Easy Payroll Reports, Responsive Support, and Affordable Pricing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Susan G. | Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The reports / payroll journals are easy to create and allow me to process reports for specific audits that clients continue to have. This is something I use on a regular basis for clients. The customer service support has always been available and helped with specific reports and payroll issues. The pricing is affordable for any client.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only downside of using Gusto is maybe with the quarterly reports. When there is an error it is difficult to reconcile.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Client audits happen on a regular basis with clients. Gusto has solved this problem by showing me how to run customized payroll journal reports.

  ### 13. Simple, Intuitive, and Powerful—Gusto Nails Pricing & Performance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Connor S. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

So simple to use! All the features I need with an intuitive interface! I haven't needed integrations but I know I will be covered when I do. It was so easy to onboard myself and other users. Love that. Pricing beats most competitors for a similar experience. Performance has been 100%. Integrations are useful. The AI features are great - glad they are there!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

So far, I haven’t found a single thing I’d change about Gusto. And I’m a developer… which should say a lot!

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Same as everyone's... keeping track of the hours of all our employees! It was chaos using multiple different softwares... so glad to have everything under one roof now. So much simpler and the time savings are massive.

  ### 14. Ideal for Small to Mid-Size Firms with Streamlined Payroll Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen B. | CFO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really appreciate how Gusto keeps all the functions under one login, which makes things a lot more streamlined. The user interface is simple and appealing, perfect for a mid-size firm like ours. It might not have all the intricate workflow capabilities, but simplicity is better for us. I love that it allows us to accurately track job costs by logging operations hours and labor burden under specific codes, and we can easily pull these reports monthly. Gusto's reporting is strong enough for our needs, and I've found the setup incredibly clean and straightforward. The initial setup was super easy, and if your data is clean, you can migrate payroll in less than two weeks. It’s a tremendous choice if you thoughtfully plan your needs.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only improvement I would suggest is more admin capability and access on the benefits side. If there is a missed enrollment for example that a broker failed to make you have to go through customer service and request the amendment. I would like to have a waiver process where the admin could have those rights like some other systems. I understand it cuts down on liability for Gusto but does add some time. Would not make that a determining issue that is more an edge case that could be simplified especially if you get headcounts greater than 50.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto keeps all functions under one login, enabling accurate job cost tracking with specific codes for easy reporting. It simplifies payroll, timekeeping, benefits admin, reviews, performance tracking, documentation, and reporting, making it a tremendous choice for mid-sized firms with thoughtful planning.

  ### 15. Streamlined HR and Payroll Solution with Intuitive Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Veronica D. | Model | Fashion show Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love using Gusto because it simplifies the payroll process and makes managing onboarding and off-boarding very convenient. The interface is very straightforward and efficient, which I appreciate since some platforms can be difficult to navigate. Gusto is organized and user-friendly, allowing me to easily move between different areas and quickly access HR laws, policy updates, templates, forms, and resources all in one place, which is extremely convenient for my operational and HR roles. I also found the initial setup to be very simple and straightforward. I've been with Gusto since the beginning, and I've already recommended it to all clients who are starting to hire employees and need a payroll platform.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish there was a way that, during the onboarding process of a new employee, you could see an overview of their total employer cost, including the cost for different plan options available for this new employee and the total final new payroll total moving forward. Before finalizing the onboarding process, the platform could show the estimated total employer cost, including wages or salary, payroll taxes, state / fed taxes, benefits, and employer matching contribution for each available plan option. This would give HR and operations a clearer picture of the financial impact of this new hire as opposed to having only some of the information and having to estimate taxes or plan costs yourself or wait until the first payroll initiates.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto simplifies payroll and centralizes employee data, aiding onboarding and offboarding. Its user-friendly interface improves navigation, providing quick access to HR laws, policies, and resources, which is great for HR operations.

  ### 16. Cheerful, Whimsical Interface That’s Relatively Easy to Use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I appreciate the whimsical interface, it is cheerful and makes my workday seem more enlivened. I like that it is relatively easy to use once you know where to click and how to use the app. I have not used it yet, but I do appreciate that there are options for utilizing personal budgeting features.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

On the desktop version, I have had a number of instances where I have accidentally clicked outside of the edit window and lost my entire edit. I do not like that feature, it's maddening. While adding a break or editing your time, if you click outside of the edit window, it should ask you if you are done editing, not automatically assume that you are ditching your edit. I have also had a few instances where I had logged a break and also clocked out, but the system did not retain any of that and kept me logged in.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I am an employee and not the business owner, I can't really speak to this question.

  ### 17. Effortless Digital Onboarding That Saves Time

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittney S. | Billing Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

One of the biggest benefits for us has been employee onboarding. Being able to send everything digitally, and having employees enter their own information, has saved a ton of back-and-forth. The interface is clean and intuitive, and I appreciate that it doesn’t feel overly “corporate” or complicated. It’s obvious it was designed with small business owners in mind—people who don’t have time to dig through confusing systems just to get new hires set up. Being new to the company myself, it was easy to implement Gusto and I use it every week and customer support is great when I need them.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

If I had to offer one piece of feedback, it would be that some of the reporting features could be a bit more customizable. That said, overall it does everything we need it to do, and it does it really well.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves me time tracking time and attendance because I’m no longer entering time cards manually. It also handles all the payroll calculations for me, which makes the whole process much easier.

  ### 18. Easy Time Tracking Layout, Smooth Performance, and Simple Banking Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** silvia j. | Administrative Assistant - Employee, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like the layout of the time tracking screen. It is easy to record my hours. I also like the notes section in there as well. I'm also impressed with the preformance of the app itself, as we have never had to deal with any bugs as long as I have worked here. Integration wise, I have heard other coworkers say using the banking Gusto offers is beneficial and very simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't really have any critiques for Gusto, but I would love to have unlocked cash flow without setting up an account.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It adds all of my hours for the week. That takes away the hastle of trying to figure out what I'll be getting paid. It also has a great, organized dashboard with all of the key componets of the app that I use daily.

  ### 19. Everything you need with a user friendly experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris M. | Patent Attorney, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I think its pretty easy to find w2 and paychecks which I seem to constantly need and dont need to go through the hassle of asking my boss. The ability to access these especially very old ones is great.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I feel like thre is so many features I do not access because I just dont know about or feel comfortable because am I supposed to be using them for my benefit or is it fluff to sell things. For isntance cash flow.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like to see how much money I make each period in comparison to previous periiods so it is easy to go back each time and look at how much money I received and then compare it

  ### 20. Effortless Payroll with Gusto's Intuitive Interface

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oscar V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for payroll and benefits management, and it makes payroll super simple. It connects to QuickBooks and updates it accordingly, which is super convenient. I like that the UI is pretty nice and straightforward, even if I preferred the old UI slightly more. The ease of finding things I need, like W2s for the end of the year and past payroll, is great. Processing payroll is so simple that I don't even audit the numbers anymore because they're always on point. Payroll being accurate means I don't have to spend time ensuring everyone is paid properly. Having documents like W2s readily available makes life easier at the end of the year. Gusto handles making them available for all employees, and there's even an option to mail them if necessary.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Switching a contractor to an employee can be cumbersome. In the past, some folks had to create 2 accounts with 2 separate emails in order to treat both differently. A seamless transition would be nice (i.e. just entering start and end dates and go!). I think more guided prompts would be helpful, such as when a taxing jurisdiction is introduced or Gusto requires actions to be taken, some explanation as to why or a walkthrough would help. I have a couple of alerts, but I'm not sure if they are truly applicable or not to our business.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes payroll super simple, connects to QuickBooks, and allows me to administer benefits with ease. The payroll accuracy saves me time, and having documents like W2s readily available makes life easier at the end of the year.

  ### 21. Fast, Easy Payroll Access—Update in Minutes with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jolene W. | Design Administrator/Designer/Account Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love that I can go in and edit my hours. I frequently forget to either login or log out and this allows me to post accurate hours for my company without the need to bother our human resources department. I love that I can go on any time and see my past hours worked, my past paycheck details, and my cumulative earnings. I love that there is a way to track paid time off, even though my company doesn't use this, if I were an employer I think this would be a great benefit to me. Gusto also has a great history of my time with my company. Sometimes when completing a variety of personal forms for various reasons, I need to know when my employment started. I can easily get that information from Gusto with a click of a button. Also, when my employer needs updated information about me it is so easy to jump into Gusto and quickly update the information online. Gusto takes me seconds in some cases and on a few minutes in others where it might take 30-60 minutes in other formats! I am forever grateful that my company uses Gusto, making my life as a employee so much easier. Everything moves so quickly on Gusto. Updates happen right away and I can click through multiple areas with ease if needed when completing payroll or forms. Our company has been with Gusto for several years. We made the move due to ease of use and cost effectiveness for a smaller company such as ours.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One area I think could be improved is the employee profile. Right now, it only allows the employer to make updates; however, I believe it would be helpful—especially for smaller companies like the one I work for—to allow employees to update their own profiles as well.

Onboarding as an employee was quite easy also. There were helpful guides along the way where I could clarify what I needed to do if I had any questions.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to using Gusto it was quite difficult to change our working hours if we forgot to login or log out. Gusto allows employees to handle that completely on their own without having to involve the payroll/HR department and without lengthy delays in the process.

  ### 22. A Lifesaver for Payroll and Compliance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maggie A. | Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that Gusto offers options for a lot of things, including remote clock in for my employees, which is really helpful for my goal of growing the business to have multiple crews. The ability to track time and choose different tiers and add-ons helps me pay for what matters to my company size. The flexibility to pivot, adapt, and keep up with what my employees need is excellent. I love how simple it was to connect Gusto to all of my taxation accounts. The initial setup was incredibly helpful, providing guidance on compliance, which I wish I had when we first formed the company.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One thing I wish wasn't the case is the difference in options in-browser vs in-app. There are a lot of features that I forget about because I mainly use the app, which leaves me underutilizing Gusto at times. There are a lot easier navigations in the options in-browser. Maybe it just seems like there are different features, but I was having a hard time finding PTO policy addition and other time-off type functions for my employees until I went to the browser.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps me with payroll, time tracking, and compliance. It simplifies tax filing and state regulations. The flexibility in options allows me to adapt to my employees' needs, and partnerships with companies like Checkr enhance recruitment and retention.

  ### 23. Straightforward Payroll with Unique Benefits

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really appreciate Gusto's rainy day feature. It automatically saves a bit from my check into a rainy day fund, which turned out to be super helpful when I unexpectedly needed extra cash. I had like $400 saved up, and it really made a difference. This benefit feels like a win-win because it didn't cost us anything extra to offer it to our employees. Setting up Gusto was also pretty easy, which I liked, in fact I found it much easier to input and complete payroll than ADP, which we used previously.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I can't speak to how Gusto handles more complex payroll situations or larger organizations. Our needs were fairly basic, so while it worked well for a small business, I'm unsure about its capability for handling more complex situations or a larger company. Also, to my knowledge, I still had to get the actual payroll spreadsheet completed myself before entering into gusto the final numbers.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Gusto easier to use than ADP, simplifying payroll administration. The Rainy Day feature is a plus, as it effortlessly helps save funds for unexpected needs. The setup was pretty easy too.

  ### 24. Easy, Affordable Payroll with Great Support and Seamless 401k Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenny d. | Payroll Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is super easy to use, even as a beginner. Also, if you can't figure something out, their help team is on it! The price point is very affordable for a small business and it is so nice to integrate our 401k account for a smooth payroll experience. The platform is quick and Gusto is always improving.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Sometimes with the updates, it can be hard to find things that may have moved to a new spot. An easy access pop up showing the changes might be helpful.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to run payroll as a non accountant is huge. Gusto makes it easy to navigate the site and has so many help articles that provide important information.

  ### 25. Gusto Makes Payroll Easy for Sole Proprietors

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mariah F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that Gusto is really simple and lays everything out clearly. It helps me stay organized and reminds me when I need to do certain things for tax compliance. I love how it's easy to know what I have to go in and fix when there's a problem because the emails are clear and direct. I also appreciate that Gusto was really easy to set up, I couldn't imagine it being any easier. Additionally, the support offered is really good and not overwhelming.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think there should be a better centralized dashboard of tasks or open items. You have to dig a tiny bit throughout the platform to find where to update some information. It would be better if there was an organized activity center dashboard. I also don't think it's super clear how much Gusto costs, and I'm still not sure how much I'm paying for it.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps me manage federal paperwork, taxes, and compliance, guiding me step-by-step and ensuring I have everything set up properly. It sends notifications and emails to remind me about payroll and tax tasks, keeping me organized and on top of everything.

  ### 26. Seamless All-in-One Payroll Solution with Superb Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kent G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like the ease of use with Gusto. The whole setup process was super easy, and the customer service was fantastic. The onboarding consultant helped me every step of the way, especially with setting up state tax compliance, power of attorney, and bank setups. This made the payroll process seamless. I enjoy the non-pay time off feature that allows employees to request time off with ease. I also love the employee interface that ensures they always know who’s working in the studio, and they receive regular notifications about any schedule changes right in their app. It's great that they get regularly timed notifications when we release the schedule for the month.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think the one thing that could be improved with Gusto is having an owner dashboard. As an owner, I'm also on the schedule, so it's not just about running the back end but also the front end. It would be helpful if there was a feature where the owner could be viewed as an employee from a scheduling perspective. So other employees could see when I will be working, make sure we have coverage, and all of that. I'd like the ability for the owner to be in the system as an employee and have the access to see the schedule in real time, not just from my desktop, but from the app.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves payroll issues, saves time, and eases scheduling, letting employees request time off and see schedules. It ensures tax compliance, and reduces apps needed, being an all-in-one solution.

  ### 27. Efficient Payroll with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura O. | Chief Executive Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I find the customer service chat feature pretty helpful. Whenever I have an issue, I use the chat, like when I made an error running payroll, and I got connected with an agent who provided concrete steps to fix it. I also appreciate the payroll reminders since I'm a busy business owner and parent, and I don't have the payroll calendar memorized, so those reminders are crucial and I integrated them into my calendar. Additionally, I find the system user-friendly, making it easy to change things.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There's one feature where you can run same day payroll and pay a fee to do so. However, you can only do that for an amount of under $10,000. It would be helpful if you could do that for a larger amount.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps with payroll management and monitoring employee benefits, handles different pay rates, and provides helpful customer service chat for resolving issues. It's easy to change system settings and offers payroll reminders, crucial for my busy schedule.

  ### 28. All-in-One Payroll and HR Made Simple with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is how it brings payroll, HR, benefits administration, and employee management together in a single, easy-to-use platform. The user interface is intuitive and well-designed, making it simple for both administrators and employees to navigate payroll, benefits enrollment, PTO tracking, tax documents, and employee records without extensive training.

Gusto has significantly improved our operational efficiency by automating payroll processing, tax filings, direct deposits, and compliance updates. What used to require multiple systems and manual processes can now be completed in a fraction of the time, reducing errors and allowing our team to focus on more strategic initiatives. The onboarding experience is especially impressive, with digital offer letters, e-signatures, self-service employee setup, and automated document collection creating a seamless experience for new hires.

We also value Gusto's integrations with other business tools, which help keep employee and payroll data synchronized across our systems. The platform performs reliably, provides clear reporting and analytics, and gives us easy access to payroll and workforce insights when we need them.

From a return-on-investment perspective, Gusto has delivered tremendous value by reducing administrative overhead, minimizing compliance risks, and improving the overall employee experience. Their support team has been responsive and knowledgeable whenever questions arise, and the implementation process was straightforward. An unexpected benefit has been how much employees appreciate the self-service capabilities, giving them direct access to pay stubs, tax forms, benefits information, and personal records without needing HR assistance.

Overall, Gusto has become an essential part of our HR and payroll operations, helping us scale efficiently while providing a modern, reliable experience for both administrators and employees.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There is very little to dislike about Gusto, but there are a few areas where the platform could improve. Some of the more advanced reporting and customization options can feel somewhat limited for organizations with complex payroll or HR needs. While Gusto integrates with many popular business applications, there are occasional cases where additional integrations or deeper customization would be helpful.

As the platform continues to add new features, certain settings and workflows can sometimes take a few clicks to locate, particularly for administrators who don't use those functions regularly. Additionally, larger organizations with unique HR processes may find some advanced workforce management capabilities less robust than specialized enterprise HR platforms.

That said, these limitations have been relatively minor compared to the value Gusto provides. The platform remains highly reliable, user-friendly, and efficient, and the benefits of streamlined payroll, onboarding, compliance management, and employee self-service far outweigh any areas where additional functionality could be added. Overall, Gusto continues to be one of the best HR and payroll solutions we've used.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before implementing Gusto, many HR and payroll tasks required significant manual effort, including employee onboarding, payroll processing, tax management, benefits administration, and maintaining employee records across multiple systems. As our organization grew, these processes became increasingly time-consuming and created opportunities for errors and compliance challenges.

Gusto has helped solve these issues by centralizing payroll, HR, benefits, and employee management into a single platform. Automated payroll runs, tax filings, compliance updates, and employee self-service tools have dramatically reduced administrative workload and improved accuracy. The onboarding process is now streamlined through digital offer letters, e-signatures, and automated document collection, allowing new hires to become productive more quickly.

The platform's reporting and workforce insights also provide greater visibility into payroll and employee data, helping us make more informed decisions. Additionally, Gusto's growing use of AI and intelligent automation helps simplify administrative tasks, surface important information, reduce manual data entry, and guide users through complex HR and payroll processes.

The result has been substantial time savings, improved compliance, fewer payroll-related issues, and a better employee experience. What once took hours of manual work each pay period can now be completed efficiently through automated workflows, allowing our team to focus on supporting employees and growing the business rather than managing paperwork and administrative tasks.

  ### 29. Intuitive Payroll and Tax Filing Solutuion with Excellent Support and Great Value

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer J. | Office Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I work for a small architectural firm and do everything that isn't architecture, so I wear a lot of hats and my time is at a premium. Having an intuitive interface makes running payroll and meeting all the federal and state tax requirements and filings very easy and stress free. The easy to use drag and drop interface make an intimidating process very simple for the non-HR professional. I've been using the software for 4 years and have yet to run into any major issues with performance or speed. The support has been excellent. Generally, my issues are addressed with one call. We don't currently use any of the integrations as the size of our firm doesn't really make it necessary. The time using Gusto to run our payroll more than justifies the price and I think for the level of service and support we receive it is a great value for our firm. We have no plans to look for another payroll solution.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One issue I have run into is lack of knowledge about our state tax requirements as they pertain to our principal who is the sole shareholder of the S Corp. The first line support staff have not been able to address the problem we're having and I haven't been able to communicate directly with the second tier support staff. It has resulted in incorrect filing and payment of one our state's taxes so I've had to request a refund of overpayments each year.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I did not work for the firm prior to Gusto being implemented but having done payroll for my own business previously, I can attest to the fact that Gusto makes it very simple to do things quickly and efficiently. Currently, we just use it to manage personnel and payroll but are looking at some of the integrations with benefits management for the future.

  ### 30. Easy Pay Tracking and Hour Verification

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guiliana M. | Registered Behavioral Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to receive my pay from my job, and I find that it makes my paycheck details more accessible and easier to find. What I like most about Gusto is being able to track my pay, as it lets me know when I'm getting paid and helps me budget with each paycheck. I also love the feature that allows me to review my hours before submitting them to ensure I am not missing any hours I worked. The initial setup was really easy; my job sent me a link to the website, and the prompts made creating an account super simple. I also noticed a feature for tracking expenses recently, which seems very beneficial.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The app looks a little different from the website as expected. It does make it a little bit harder to navigate.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes my paycheck details accessible and easy to find, lets me track my pay for budgeting, and ensures all my work hours are accounted for before submitting.

  ### 31. Clean, Streamlined, and Affordable HR Platform with an Excellent Calendar

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto’s interface is very clean and organized intuitively. I especially like the Calendar tab and how it brings events and other companywide events together in one place. Gusto is very affordable relative to other HR websites like Asana, and I think it performs the same functions other HR platforms offer in an even more streamlined way. There aren't unecessary features on the website, and teh calendar tab is actually useful for managing work and life demands. The onboarding process was very easy, especially when it came to signing documents and setting up my payroll.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto's AI features are not clearly useful to the type of work I do, and I think more guidance on how AI features should be used may improve my ability to use them. I also think the interface can be slightly too plain at times.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is helpful for onboarding new team members and standardizing financial communications to the team. I have never had problems with direct deposits or managing paydays. Gusto is efficient, reliable, and integrates easily with bank accounts and other websites.

  ### 32. Gusto Worked Very Well To Simplify Payroll Runs with Some Reporting Limitations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pirzah I. | Network IT Tier lll, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I experience with Gusto's automated tax filing and compliance engine incredibly reliable, as it handles the heavy lifting of local and federal tax reporting, significantly lowering our risk of filing errors. I appreciate the self-service employee portal which provides a major benefit, allowing our team to access their own pay stubs, update tax information, and manage benefits elections without needing to email HR for every small change. This tool has made our HR tasks easier, allowing us to focus on growth instead of back-office compliance. The system is so intuitive that we rarely have to consult support, and its ability to integrate time tracking directly into payroll reduces the time spent manually reconciling hours. Getting up and running was remarkably smooth thanks to a clearly structured implementation guide that walked us through the migration of text documents and employee data step by step. Having our initial payroll run fully configured and tested in less than a week was impressive, and the system's ability to self-onboard employees saved us from spending hours on manual data entry.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Things that not working really great for us is for the reporting that for advanced workforce analytic. Because I think it is somewhat limited for our growing needs. While the standard payroll and tax report are excellent, if I want to run complex, multivariable cost modeling scenario, like analyzing total compensation trend across different departments over a three-year period, I have to export the data into third-party BI tools to get the level of details I'm looking for. It would be a huge improvement if they can introduce a more robust custom report builder that allows us to create deeper multidimensional queries directly within the dashboard.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto automates payroll cycle, manages tax withholdings, and benefits in a unified interface. It reduces payroll administration errors, frees HR from compliance tasks, and streamlines tax reporting and compliance with a self-service portal.

  ### 33. Gusto: Full-Featured HRIS with Seamless Payroll, Support, and QuickBooks Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I enjoy that Gusto is a full-featured HRIS platform for our small business. We are able to run payroll, post jobs, hire, manage forms, and complete full scale HR functions from within a very tidy platform. Gusto support is very helpful when topics arise that we're unsure of and are always available to help with tax forms, notices, and more. Our employees enjoy the ease of use and find the expense reimbursement platform to be very simple. Gusto integrates with our QuickBooks online so posting transactions is a breeze. The system uptime is fantastic and we have rarely had any issues completing tasks. We feel that the pricing is very fair and have saved considerably over the prior platform that we were using; all while gaining many more features. The AI platform continues to evolve and is a helpful way to tackle simpler questions and needs.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

We have no complaints! The system is really powerful and we have been very happy with it over the past three years with no interest in moving to a new platform.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I know they are continuing to evolve the AI functions which is great in the world we live in today. The functionality has already come a long way from when it was first rolled out.

  ### 34. Gusto: Seamless All-in-One HR for Hiring, PTO, Time Tracking & Payroll

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shawn M. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It is very seamless across all aspects of what our business uses it for, from hiring, to PTO, to time tracking and payroll.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There have been a few times where I've run into an issue that was difficult, or not possible, to solve unless I did live chat. Overall I have been able to figure the platform out on my own but I could see it taking some time if you were someone who wasn't tech savvy. I also with Gusto administered Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a clean payroll platform to track PTO, hours worked, and onboarding all in one place.

  ### 35. Easy Setup, Wonderful Support, and an Affordable, User-Friendly Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Alternative Medicine | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The set up was a no brainer, it was very easy and the support/onboarding service received was wonderful, Oscar Fuentes was very helpful and walked me through the whole set up process. The price of my plan is very affordable even for a solo S-corp like mine. It is a very user friendly platform, so no need to be a techie. I am new to Gusto but already loving it!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

so far nothing! it is simple and powerful at the same time

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am running payroll by myself, for myself and have not done this before. Oscar from support answered all my questions very patiently and explained to me the requirements to satisfy what running a payroll means. This was a huge help for me. The automation feature is great, I can set it and forget it, this avoids me going into my account bimonthly and doing owner draws. In addition, my experience with some a company that ran payroll for me was not satisfactory, with Gusto I don't anticipate any headaches or loss of time trying to contact the company running the payroll for any reason.

  ### 36. No more spreadsheets for pto tracking after we switched to Gusto

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lorenzo M. | HR operations and onboarding coordinator, Sports, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Handling payroll was once a monthly hassle, but now it's a 10-minute hassle with Gusto. So the automatic filing and payments of taxes is a lifesaver; I don't have to spend hours double checking on deadlines or worry about penalties. Another bonus: the employee onboarding feature allows new hires to fill out all their paperwork online, with their information seamlessly transferring over to payroll.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The pricing structure is a little hard to negotiate, some of the features we would want, such as advanced HR tools, are only available on more expensive plans that offer features that we don't need.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payroll was a myriad of spreadsheets, manual tax calculations, and missed deadlines. Now, from deduction calculations to quarterly taxes, it happens all on its own and I never miss a beat because of the reminders. An example of this would be last year I had to spend a whole weekend getting the W-2s and 1099s squared away, this year Gusto did it all for me in an hour or so.

  ### 37. Intuitive Navigation and Easy Benefits Access with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kylie W. | Program and Outreach Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like how easy Gusto is to navigate for adding hours, accessing benefits, and tracking expenses. Everything feels very intuitive, and thanks to Gusto I’m now able to receive insurance through my employer.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One downside for me is that some of the time-tracking features can be tricky to use in the app. When I scroll to the time I want, it sometimes reverts back to the current input time. That can be frustrating, and it often takes a few attempts to correct it and get it right. I also get logged out of my daily timesheet and lose my work if I navigate away from the page at all. This is especially challenging when I need to check calendars, task lists, etc. to recall the day’s events. I would love to see an area on the time tracking directly where someone can use their vacation or sick time instead of having to request it. That would be a great feature!

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything I mentioned above still applies. Having everything in one platform is extremely helpful for me as an employee. I’m not limited to just a clock-in/clock-out system; I also have space to add notes about the day’s accomplishments, request time off, and correct any mistakes that were previously made. I really enjoy how easily I’m able to access everything, including my W-2, benefits, and more.

  ### 38. Effortless Payroll and Compliance with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabrielle Y. | Freelance Writer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for payroll and to administer benefits and pay out PTO. It solves payroll and tax compliance issues, and it's a total life saver. I love how Gusto keeps things super easy to implement and easy to find, with really great customer service. It's very easy to use, easy to see, and easy to handle. I don't have to wait months for documents. Also, the initial setup of Gusto was very easy. I have used it at probably four companies, ranging from 10 to 250 or more employees or contractors. I enthusiastically rate it a 10 for its excellence in payroll and compliance.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Customer service sometimes can be hit or miss. I do wish they could compete on the HR side more with like BambooHR so we didn't have to use two systems.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for payroll, benefits, and PTO. It solves payroll and tax compliance issues, making it a total life saver. Gusto is very easy to use, with quick access to documents, and I give it a 10 for payroll and compliance.

  ### 39. Easy Hour Tracking That Runs Smoothly

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It's very easy to track hours as you work and to log them after a shift. I generally track my hours as I go and then leave a comment for my employer about the project I was working on. The program always runs smoothly and it was very easy to set up. I've never used any extra integrations or AI features, and likely will not need them in the future.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish I could view my hours logged over a specified timeframe rather than just week by week. It would also be helpful to have a browser integration so I don't have to keep returning to the website to clock in and out. I often forget to go back to my dashboard and have to fix my hours after my shift has ended.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to use Toggl to track hours, but Gusto has been helpful because my employer can actually disburse payment using the same software that the hours are logged in. It's much easier for me to track my hours in one program rather than copying every shift over at the end of the week.

  ### 40. Gusto Help To Efficient Time Management, Needs Flexibility Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Agnes A. | Customer Support Assistant 3, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love using Gusto's Geotagged mobile boundaries and real-time job costing features incredibly effective. When field employees arrive at designated workspaces, they can log in directly from their mobile apps, which verifies their location and prompts them to select their current project assignment from a dropdown menu. This makes it easy for both our employees and HR to manage payroll efficiently. The location-based mobile login automates our entire labor cost distribution workflow, eliminating the need for complicated spreadsheets and manual audits to verify attendance. The software dynamically builds cost allocation data as shifts occur, removing human error from project budgeting and streamlining data directly into our client billing reports. It significantly reduces our time tracking administrative oversight to zero.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't like the shift schedule currently because it's too rigid for dynamic team tracking. While creating basic weekly schedules is fine, the layout becomes problematic when you need to handle sudden shift swaps on last-minute callouts.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to eliminate manual time reconciliation, label allocation guesswork, and human error in project budgeting. It streamlines our labor cost distribution workflow, integrates data into client billing reports, and simplifies payroll management with real-time job costing and location-verified mobile logins.

Gusto makes payroll easy and very fast. For our nonprofit, it’s straightforward to enter employee hours across several different grants. The reporting is customizable, which helps me pull exactly what our grant managers want to see. Pricing is clear, simple, and cost-effective. The accounting side also integrates smoothly with QuickBooks. Whenever I’ve had questions, I’ve reached out and received quick, accurate answers.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Reporting on specific grants isn’t easy. We treat different grants as “jobs” within Gusto, but I’ve found that “jobs” isn’t available as a reportable field in the reports I want to run.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Gusto, we submitted timesheets to our accountant, who then entered everything into their QuickBooks payroll system. Any corrections were a pain to deal with. Now I can make those corrections myself quickly and easily. On top of that, I used to have to enter all of the payroll transactions manually into our QuickBooks. At this point, I’m probably saving four or five hours per month on payroll for our staff of five.

  ### 42. Quick, Simple Dashboard and Helpful Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melanie T. | Hardware Demand and Supply Planning Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

all the information needed is quick and tabbed for easy access. simple dashboard, nothing fancy; syncs my co workers calendar to my own. Reliable when it comes to my pay progress. Help tab is great when i have questions on how to use Gusto. worth every penny to know what you need to know. I have option to use AI if the help tab isn't providing much information

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

downside would be some stuff on home page, i will never use so no need to view it. Maybe option would be to choose what is priority

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

looks like there's a way to "save" for a rainy day, which i like, but have not used it yet, since I'm too early into using app

  ### 43. Gusto for Small Companies

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ja'Asia B. | Medical Support, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

With easy access to Gusto, you can view your benefits and request time off all in one convenient app.
Gusto makes it easy to manage your benefits and take time off, all from one app.
Using the Gusto app, you can easily view your benefits and submit time-off requests in one place.
The Gusto app gives you quick access to your benefits and time-off requests, all in one location.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I dislike getting paid through Gusto because the paycheck deposit time is unpredictable. They only guarantee payment by 5:00 PM on Friday, so you're left waiting around all day wondering when your paycheck will arrive.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the problem of having payroll, benefits, and time-off management spread across multiple systems. By putting everything in one place, it makes it easier to access pay stubs, review benefits, update personal information, and request time off. This saves time, reduces paperwork, and gives employees a convenient way to manage important work-related information.

  ### 44. Outstanding Support and Simplified Payroll Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The customer service at Gusto is outstanding, especially when compared to other providers. I love that the customer service team seems to be US-based, with fluent English speakers, making communication easy. From the very first day, they've been proactive in finding the best solutions for me, including some I wasn't even aware of. I appreciate having knowledgeable customer service representatives who are always friendly and easy to reach. Additionally, the initial setup of Gusto was incredibly simple.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would appreciate more readily available tax information on the website. I know if I called, I could probably get the info, but it's nice to have it without the extra step. When setting up new companies and electing to have Gusto set up tax accounts on the client's behalf, it's hard to know if it's been completed or not.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for running payroll for two small businesses, solving the need for simple payroll management for s-corps with one owner/employee.

  ### 45. Gusto’s Intuitive, Reliable HR & Payroll Platform for Growing Teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto stands out for its exceptional ease of use and intuitive design. The platform is thoughtfully organized, with clearly structured tabs and content that make navigating features simple and efficient. Its layout allows users to quickly locate and manage essential HR and payroll functions without unnecessary complexity.

The system is also continuously improved, with regular updates that enhance functionality and maintain a strong focus on user experience. This ongoing development reflects Gusto’s commitment to remaining practical, modern, and user-friendly for organizations of all sizes. The AI feature has assisted our company with helpful information for our employees.

In practice, the platform has supported key organizational needs such as payroll processing, annual employee performance reviews, and document creation with reliability and efficiency. During onboarding, new hires consistently report that the process is straightforward and easy to understand, contributing to a smooth and positive introduction to the organization.

As a small startup nonprofit, cost-effectiveness is an important factor, and Gusto has proven to be a strong fit by offering the necessary features at an accessible price point. Overall, it provides a balanced combination of usability, functionality, and affordability that aligns well with the organization’s operational needs.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One area for consideration within Gusto is the cost associated with the training modules. While the platform offers valuable functionality and supports streamlined onboarding and staff development, the pricing for training features can become increasingly significant as the organization grows and the number of employees requiring access increases.

For smaller organizations, the cost is generally manageable; however, as staffing expands, these expenses may have a greater impact on the overall budget. As a result, organizations may need to plan strategically for scaling training needs or evaluate how often these modules are utilized relative to their cost.

Despite this consideration, the training tools themselves remain useful, and the limitation is primarily related to the scalability of cost rather than functionality or ease of use.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has helped address several operational challenges within the organization by providing a centralized and efficient platform for HR and payroll management. One of the key improvements has been the ability to securely store employee files and documentation in an organized, easily accessible system, which has strengthened recordkeeping and reduced administrative inefficiencies.
The platform has also supported the implementation and timely completion of annual performance reviews, ensuring a more structured and consistent evaluation process. In addition, Gusto provides a collaborative environment that allows leadership to access relevant employee and organizational information in a streamlined manner, improving oversight and communication.
As the organization experienced rapid growth, there was an urgent need to implement a reliable payroll solution. Gusto effectively met this need by enabling a smooth payroll transition, including the integration of direct deposit functionality, which improved payroll accuracy and employee satisfaction.
Timekeeping processes also presented initial challenges, particularly with employees adjusting and editing their own time entries through the mobile application. Gusto helped resolve this issue by allowing the organization to transition to a more controlled system using a stationary time clock on a company iPad, improving accuracy, accountability, and consistency in time tracking.

  ### 46. Effortless Payroll with Intuitive UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Silvia F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love Gusto's user interface because it is incredibly clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Everything is organized perfectly, making running payroll and onboarding new team members smooth experiences. The interface makes the software valuable by removing the steep learning curve, so I don't need to be an HR or payroll expert to navigate it successfully. It guides me step by step through complex tasks, eliminating confusion and preventing mistakes. Gusto automates our local and federal tax filing, saving me from complicated manual paperwork, and simplifies running payroll each cycle. The initial setup was incredibly easy and straightforward, with the platform guiding me through entering company details and tax information quickly. Additionally, I connect Gusto with our business accounting tools and banking system, ensuring all financial data and expenses tracking stay perfectly synced. Overall, I've already recommended it to someone who successfully signed up with their own small business.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would love to see more flexible or customizable reporting options to format data exactly how I want it.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto automates tax filing and simplifies payroll, saving me time and reducing paperwork. It offers peace of mind, letting me focus on business growth.

  ### 47. Effortless Time-Tracking for Contractors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steffany W. | Email Marketing Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to log my hours as a 1099 contractor, and it saves me from having to manually log my hours via a spreadsheet. The time-tracking is so simple. I can either 'Clock in' to start tracking my time automatically, or manually input my hours into the time tracker. Either way, it auto-saves my time so I don't have to remember to hit 'save'. At the end of the week, I don't have to submit anything; it automatically submits my timesheet. Moving solely as a contractor and just submitting via Gusto makes it so easy. The initial setup was very straightforward without any issues, allowing me to get set up and log hours in no time.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There is nothing I dislike at this time, but if I were to say something, it would be that it sometimes logs me out mid-time tracking so I have to make sure I recall when I started working. That said, it's easy to adjust time in the timesheet so I can always fix what went wrong.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to log my hours, saving me from manually logging via a spreadsheet. Time-tracking is simple and auto-saves, which means I don't have to remember to hit save. Setting up Gusto was straightforward, helping me get started quickly.

  ### 48. Gusto Is The Best For Effortless Payroll Management, But Needs Better Reporting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grisha A. | Office Support ll, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I truly love to use is Gusto's autopilot payroll engine paired with the employee self-onboarding portal. It's been incredibly efficient for our regular salary staff because the platform calculates deduction checks and executes the entire payroll run automatically without needing a manager to manually click an approval button. This has made my work incredibly easy and saved a lot of unnecessary time by eliminating the repetitive biweekly cost of manual data verification. I think I have saved almost 30% of my time from doing it manually. The onboarding portal and autopilot engine make it easy for new employees since they need to input their own banking details, tax withholding preferences, and document signatures before their first day. The system automatically integrates their health premium selections into the payroll ledger, so tasks like chasing down paper W-4 forms or typing routing numbers into a system are avoided. This completely drops our payroll processing overhead down to zero while keeping our records perfectly accurate.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

What I dislike with Gusto is with the custom payroll reporting and historical geo filtering tools. Because it is very confusing if finance needs to pull a highly specific report such as cross-referencing workers' compensation classification codes again, dynamic department level project allocation text over an unusual time frame. The dashboard interface feels clunky. It often forces you to spot massive, messy CSV files to clean and pivot the data manually in Excel. They need to add more fluid, customizable drag and drop reports for advanced financial auditing.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to eliminate the hassle of multistate payroll tax compliance, automating calculations and tax filings. It saves 30% of my time by handling payroll runs automatically without manual approval, making my work easier and more efficient.

  ### 49. Effortless Payroll and Time Management with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cheyanne M. | Front Desk Agent, Hospitality, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto at work to clock in and keep track of my pay and hours, which is really helpful. I love the quick pin for clocking in and out; it saves me the hassle of remembering long passwords. I also really appreciate being able to see how much my paycheck will be before it hits my account. Gusto gives me the opportunity to check my hours before payroll is submitted to ensure there are no mistakes, which ensures I get all my pay when I'm supposed to. I'm enjoying everything about Gusto, especially being informed about my pay and hours and accessing that information anytime I want. The initial setup was very easy and took no time at all, and I even helped other co-workers complete theirs.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

No complaints at all! I’m really enjoying everything Gusto has to offer so far, and it’s been a great experience overall.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to clock in and track my pay and hours. I can edit time if I forget to clock in or out and check my hours before payroll to ensure accuracy. The quick pin eliminates long passwords, making clocking in and out easy.

  ### 50. Our quarterly tax filings stopped being a nightmare

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabien L. | HR Operations and Onboarding Coordinator, Leisure, Travel & Tourism, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The automatic filing of taxes is a huge bonus in itself...I don't have to worry anymore about not filing on time or calculating withholdings correctly. Seamless employee onboarding as well - once I start an employee, they have their paperwork, direct deposit, and benefits enrollment all in one digital process, saving me hours per hire.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The pricing can be confusing as well; some of the more rudimentary things on the platform, such as advanced reporting or multi-state tax filings, are required as part of a more expensive plan. I'm also run into snags when customer service is at its busiest (e.g. during the holiday season), and then the time it takes for them to respond is longer than it should be.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No need to panic at the last minute for tax deadlines. But time saved is enormous as well - what used to take half a day can now be completed in under an hour, including report review. Even benefits administration, which was previously email back and forth, is now self-service for employees.
