## Gusto Reviews
  ### 1. Fast Setup, Helpful Support, and Big Payroll Savings with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maria S. | Financial Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I needed to find an alternative to Quickbooks Payroll and did some checking and saw Gusto was rated high. I figured I would do a trial to see. I setup the entire thing, even added the employees and linked it to QB in about a half hour. A rep from Gusto called me while I was setting up and even helped me through it. I processed my first payroll the next day in about 5 minutes and save about half the cost of QB. I entered all the employees and their withholding without having them do the onboarding but for any new employees I will have them do it themselves.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only thing I didn't like is that you have to come into the system again a day or 2 later in order to download the QB IIF file then import it. Also, maybe I just don't know how to do it properly but it only imports the main info into QB, not the details by employee.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

QB used to let you do multiple companies and use their payroll but now you can only do one company's payroll. I had to find another solution and this is cheaper and just as quick.

  ### 2. Easy to Navigate, Top-Notch Support, and Seamless Integrations with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian C. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

excellent website that is easy to navigate, top notch support team that resolves issues quickly & efficiently,

It is reasonably priced, had ADP before for several years and switched to Gusto. So happy that I did and have never regretted making the change.

has integrated with several 3rd parties to expand services such as medical and dental benefit and worker's comp insurance which is more efficient for a small business to handle fewer vendors.

As Gusto has grown bigger, have not seen a drop-off in response rates nor in quality of services

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

haven't seen any. there are more services that I would like them to take on such as being able to pay 3rd party vendors such as buying wokrer's comp insurance thru Gusto would be more helpful

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

handles payroll quickly and efficiently, Gusto manages all reporting to government agencies is HUGE! They walk me thru open errollment every year and does the homework for me of finding appropriate packages for my employees

  ### 3. Stupid-Simple Payroll Setup With a User-Friendly Employee Dashboard

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Praneeth V. | Senior Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love how stupid simple Gusto makes setting up payroll. I am truly grateful for that. All you have to do is enter your employees' hours worked and Gusto will calculate everything else (including taxes) without you needing a degree in math. It also has an extremely user-friendly dashboard for employees to log in and get their own w-2's at the end of each year instead of asking me all the time.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The customer support for Gusto has completely died over the last year. When you create a ticket, you typically wait 3 days just for some random agent to respond with a copy and paste message that does not even fix your problem. I hate this keyboard it keeps skipping spaces and its driving me crazy They also charge extra for silly things such as filing amended returns with the irs (even though you already pay for there full service tier).

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to pay our employees on time so we won't get in trouble with the government and it also provides one location for employees to log into and clock in, request vacation time off and view their pay stubs. It replaces using messy spreadsheets to keep track of everything and so nothing gets lost.

  ### 4. Seamless, User-Friendly Payroll Platform—A Definite Winner for New Companies

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Landi B. | Virtual HR Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is user-friendly for both employers and employees. The account setup feels seamless and straightforward. From an employer standpoint, the platform is easy to navigate and use. An AI-assisted tool would be a big improvement compared to reading through pages and pages of “self help,” especially if you’re a new user rather than someone who’s already familiar with the platform. That said, I’ve noticed this has now been incorporated—love the additions.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

For more advanced payroll users, the functionality feels quite basic. I’d strongly recommend offering tutorials instead of relying mainly on the FAQ pages, as that would make it easier to learn and keep up. Alternatively, adding an AI tool could also help.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The employee account setup, where staff enter and upload their own details (banking, etc.), reduces the employer’s risk of entering incorrect data. It’s a huge time-saver and also lowers the chance of mistakes in the account details submitted. However, lately the automated I9 Varification has been troublesome: if employees are moved from one account to another, the seamless new setup seems to get mixed up with the previous accounts.

  ### 5. Easy Setup, Great Value, and a Big Boost for Payroll & Compliance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly C. | Director of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The ease of use and set up is very user friendly. The price point is great and they seem to be contiunually improving the software. Our team loves it and I enjoy how easy it has made payroll and compliance. One feature that is really helpful is I can access it through the app on my phone for my admin role or my employee role.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I do wish I had the ability to be more customized on time off policies and able to assign more than one time off policy to employees. for instance sometime team members are awarded additional time off instead of a bonus. There have beem instances where I still had to track time off manually because of only one policy limitations and awarded time off wil carry over where our regular PTO policy does not.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has made payroll, payroll taxes and unemployment insurance a breeze

  ### 6. Clean, Intuitive Payroll That Saves Time—Backed by Excellent Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eben G. | Ops And Admin, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has one of the easiest payroll platforms I’ve used. The interface is clean and intuitive, making it simple to onboard employees, run payroll, manage benefits, and keep everything organized. Their customer support has also been excellent—responsive, knowledgeable, and quick to help whenever we’ve had questions. Overall, it saves us a lot of administrative time and makes payroll much less stressful.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Honestly, I haven’t come across any major issues. The platform has been reliable, easy to use, and has met our payroll and HR needs well so far.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has simplified our payroll, onboarding, and contractor management by putting everything in one place. It has reduced administrative work, helped us stay organized, and made payroll processing much faster. The integrations with our accounting software also save time by eliminating manual data entry and reducing errors, allowing us to focus more on running the business instead of paperwork. Pricing is reasonable

  ### 7. Streamlined Onboarding and Contractor Payments With Helpful Reports

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beverly J. | Co-Owner / Co-Founder of Business, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has a multitude of various functions that help a business. We use it primarily for paying our contractors and storing documents. It allows our Human Resource department to streamline onboarding paperwork and getting new hires payroll and direct deposits set-up. We have been using it for a few years now and for the price and what it offers, we are satisfied with the performance and overall ease of use. The reports are helpful as well, we use these monthly to reconcile payments to our contractors, both in the US and other countries.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only downside that we have found is that we would love for our contractors to be able to clock the time for their projects and invoice directly in Gusto. This would allow better project management and make profit and loss on a project much easier. The clocking option is only available for employees, unfortunately.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is streamlining our payroll to our contractors.

  ### 8. Effortless Automated Payroll, but Limited Customization and Hard-to-Reach Support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jane M. | Online English Instructor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto’s automated payroll and self-service onboarding have made managing administrative tasks virtually effortless. The "set-it-and-forget-it" payroll seamlessly handles state and local tax filings, while the contractor self-onboarding portal keeps sensitive direct deposit and tax information organized without endless email chains. My favorite feature is the automatic sync with accounting software, which keeps bookkeeping perfectly aligned after every pay run. As an added bonus, former contractors retain permanent access to their own tax documents, saving me from a flood of W-2 and 1099 requests every tax season.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

While Gusto handles standard payroll well, it becomes frustrating when you need to resolve complex issues or customize workflows. Reaching live customer support can be difficult, as you often have to navigate automated chatbots before getting to a human representative, which is stressful during time-sensitive tax or payroll errors. Additionally, the platform lacks advanced custom reporting options, and pricing can escalate quickly as base fees and per-contractor or per-employee costs add up as your team grows.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto eliminates the chaos of manual payroll calculations, complex multi-state tax filings, and tedious onboarding paperwork. By automating tax withholdings and automatically submitting filings to local, state, and federal agencies, it removes the constant worry of compliance errors or missed tax deadlines. The platform also streamlines team administration by allowing contractors and employees to self-onboard and securely manage their own tax forms. Ultimately, this frees up hours of administrative time each pay period, letting me focus on high-priority work rather than getting bogged down in repetitive bookkeeping and paperwork.

  ### 9. Gusto Payroll & HR Platform -Best Fit for Small Businesses and Compliance Effortless in One Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mahwish j. | Marketing Research Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Here's what stands out as most helpful about Gusto:

All-in-one platform — Gusto handles employee payroll and benefits administration from a single interface while syncing with third-party time tracking and hiring software, cutting down on double data entry and reducing errors.
Easy to use — Gusto's payroll services have a minimal learning curve, making it easy for HR teams to manage payroll, and even the base plan can manage complex calculations like wage garnishments, holiday pay, and tip credits. Reviewers consistently call it the ease-of-use benchmark in the category.
Automated tax filing & compliance — The AutoPilot system runs payroll processing automatically and calculates local and federal taxes in every state, so you don't have to manually track tax code changes.

Built-in benefits administration — You can offer health benefits for your team, administer workers' compensation, and integrate 401(k) plans, plus take advantage of optional add-ons for HSAs, FSAs, and commuter benefits.

Employee self-service — Workers use the mobile app to check direct deposit details, view benefits, or download tax forms anytime, which cuts down on routine HR questions.

Strong integrations — Gusto offers 650+ integrations, transparent pricing with no contracts, and digital onboarding on every plan.

Best fit: US-based businesses with 5-100 employees wanting a single system for payroll, digital onboarding, and benefits without enterprise HR depth.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto is a poor fit for businesses above 100-150 employees, those needing 24/7 support (it's M-F 8am-8pm ET only), and companies with international full-time employees — plus some customer service reviews call support slow and unhelpful.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manual payroll errors and compliance risk — Automating tax calculations, filings, and deposits removes the guesswork of tracking multi-state tax rules and reduces costly mistakes.

Disconnected systems — Instead of juggling separate tools for payroll, benefits, time tracking, and onboarding, it consolidates everything into one dashboard, so data doesn't have to be re-entered across platforms.

  ### 10. A Smooth Transition from Our PEO to Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devon W. | Practice Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

We recently transitioned to Gusto after six years with a PEO, and the experience has been outstanding. The implementation process was smooth, organized, and efficient from start to finish. The onboarding specialists were incredibly helpful and saved me a significant amount of manual work throughout the transition. The platform itself is intuitive, easy to navigate, and provides an excellent user experience for both administrators and employees. We're very glad we made the switch.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish the schedule building feature allowed for multi - location scheduling.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving away from our PEO has given us much more control over our payroll, benefits, and HR administration while reducing complexity. Gusto has streamlined processes, making payroll, onboarding, benefits administration, and time tracking much more efficient. The platform is intuitive, which has reduced administrative time and made it easier for employees to manage their own information. Overall, we've gained a more flexible, modern HR system that saves time, improves the employee experience, and allows our team to focus on running the business instead of managing administrative tasks.

  ### 11. Simple, Compliant Payroll with Helpful Integrations and Self-Onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MANNY W. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like the simplicity of the software. We're using the lowest priced plan and it is sufficient for our small business to stay compliant and run our payrolls professionally. The app integrations and employee self-onboarding also takes some of the workload off our hands.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't like the weekly tasks reminders too much, because it leads to too many emails. Some of the task reminders are very helpful and necessary to run payroll smoothly. However, some of the tasks (e.g. setting up 401k, health insurance) seem like they're simply cross sells. If Gusto can use AI to determine if our business truly requires some of those tasks and flag them as required, it will help us decide when to act on them.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is helping us stay compliant with applicable state and federal tax laws, as well as workers comp requirements by allowing us to integrate our workers comp with our gusto payroll.

  ### 12. Easy Setup, Helpful Chat Support, and Fast Payroll in Gusto

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley C. | Social Worker -- School Based Therapist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love the reminders I get weekly/bi weekly to do tasks. When setting up Gusto, overall it was fairly simple and easy to understand step by step what I needed to do. Using the chat and having someone answer my questions directly and quickly was great and so helpful. Running payroll is super simple and easy to use, I can do it so quickly and if I need to make changes, it's easy!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

When I needed to use the chat to speak with someone, for some reason it was very challenging to find out where I needed to go. Sometimes things seem redundant and I go in circles trying to find things, and I end up googling how to do it. I believe everything I need to do is on the site, sometimes it's just a matter of me trying to figure out where to go that can be challenging.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is new to me this past year. It's made it easy for me to handle my S-Corp and payroll. I will say it was great Gusto was able to offer services of helping me set up tax-related things. It saved me A LOT of time!

  ### 13. Simple UI, but integrations and transit reimbursements need smoother automation

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zahra H. | Client Success, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto’s UI feels simpler than other employee benefits software I’ve used (e.g., UKG and ADP). It’s generally easy to navigate and find specific benefits, like time off and transit benefits, without much digging. N/A, don't pay for Gusto personally nor know how much we're charged for this. N/A, don't pay for Gusto personally nor know how much we're charged for this.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish the integrations worked a bit more seamlessly. The benefits card combines both healthcare and transit benefits, which sounds great in theory, but it makes it difficult to set up autopay or get automatic reimbursement for my monthly transit card. Right now, I have to manually submit my transit receipt for pre tax reimbursement every month. N/A, don't pay for Gusto personally nor know how much we're charged for this.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s mainly for seamless time-off requests and checking my paycheck.

  ### 14. Intuitive, Secure Experience with Easy Alerts and Paycheck Access

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda O. | Senior Systems Quality Assurance Tester, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The interface is intuitive and modern without being overly bloated or animated. I am able to use the website and the app with ease. It is easy to set up alerts whether by email or app notification. I also appreciate getting confirmation of my activity and the security gives me peace of mind. The search functionality is easy to use and the ability to download my paychecks and review my pay within the interface is superior to other platforms I have used through prior jobs.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only downside, which isn't a showstopper at all, is that there are features that my employer has not enabled so they appear on the interface taking up room. They aren't too obnoxious but I wish I could disable or collapse those widgets since they are controlled by my employer and thus nothing I can do with those features.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company uses Gusto for payroll and PTO requests. It is easy to look up paychecks and set up account information, as well as splitting the pay if necessary. The PTO portal is easy to use as well to see old and pending requests and track upcoming time off.

  ### 15. Happy Customer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Makinzie L. | Molecular Biologist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like how easy it is to interact with the website. I like that I can see the date I am getting paid when I login, and that past pay stubs are easy to get. I find this most useful when I am needing documentation of pay stubs such as when applying for a rental, I can easy find all that on my profile. I also really like how easy it is to switch/ split my paycheck. At other jobs, it was always a pain to switch my bank account that is connected to direct deposit, but gusto makes it very simple. I also like I can get my W2 online and not have to wait for it in the mail, as i like to do my taxes as soon as I can to get it done. With this feature I can do it very easily.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would day gusto satisfies all my needs as an employee getting paid. I guess there are features that I havent tried as it seems it would take a while to input information for budgeting. Generally I am happy with this platform.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had more confusion about W2 and paycheck breakdown before using this plateform, but now I feel like i have plently of resources at my disposable to understand my financials.

  ### 16. Simple and Reliable Employee Time Tracking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad M. | Medical Billing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

As an employee, I use Gusto to clock in and clock out for my shifts. The app is simple to use, and it makes tracking my work hours quick and convenient. I like being able to clock in from my phone without any hassle, and it's easy to review my recorded hours. Overall, Gusto has made time tracking straightforward and reliable.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One thing I dislike is that the app can occasionally be slow to load when I'm trying to clock in or clock out.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the problem of keeping track of my work hours accurately. It gives me an easy way to clock in and out, so I don't have to worry about manually recording my time. This helps ensure my hours are tracked correctly for payroll and makes it easy for me to review my time entries whenever I need to.

  ### 17. All-in-One HR Made Easy: Intuitive, Reliable, and Great Value

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth Z. | Veterinary Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is really helpful because it keeps all of my information in one place—benefits, PTO, clocking in and out, and more. The benefits being integrated into Gusto is my favorite part of the program. It’s also very intuitive and easy to use. On top of that, the mobile app is convenient to have on my phone. The website online and the app both perform really well. The support options are also very helpful if I ever need help navigating the program or have questions. The AI support is very useful. Pricing for the program is also very reasonable for the small business I work for.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Using Gusto day to day, I’ve found that the integrated GPS feature for clocking in and out can occasionally have performance issues. When that happens, I notify support, and since the clock-in/clock-out feature includes a space to add a note, I clarify there that I’m in the correct location. I’m not sure whether the GPS problems I run into are caused by Gusto or by my phone’s GPS itself, so it may not be Gusto-related at all. I only experience this issue on my phone; it’s never been a problem on a desktop or laptop connected to WiFi.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps my business by integrating scheduling, onboarding, benefits management, and time tracking for associates. It also provides AI support across these services, and it does all of this at a very reasonable price. Before Gusto, several programs were needed to balance all of these tasks, but now it is all in one place.

  ### 18. User-Friendly, Reliable, and Easy to Integrate with Responsive Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaela C. | Director of Partnerships, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It's very user friendly, I know where to find all my information. I like that it easily integrates with other apps / sites that I use. I've never had an issue performance wise using the site. I can always easily log in, as can my spouse who helps with benefits. I've used the support team and they've gotten back to me in a timely matter. I can't speak to pricing/ROI or AI as I have not used those functions.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It'd be nice to have the ability to have multiple profiles. For example, my husband logs in to my account to see our insurance information/etc. He can also see information about my team - ie vacation days, performance reviews etc. I'd like him to be able to have his own account.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With other platforms like ADP, I really struggled to find access to my benefits. Gusto lays everything out easily. I also like that Gusto's AI feature helped recommend the best insurance plan for me / tell me what plan I had last year while I was deciding during open enrollment.

  ### 19. Effortlessly Simple Payroll Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aarohan D. | Clicklist Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to get paid for my internship, and I appreciate how it makes it easy to clock in my work hours and get paid. I like how the app is simple and easy to use and doesn’t have a bunch of unnecessary features I probably wouldn’t use. This aspect helps me because it causes less of a headache when navigating the interface. I only need a couple of simple features like viewing my paycheck and other docs and clocking in, so the simpler, the better. The initial setup was very easy, with no issues. Everything works as expected, and I have no complaints. The app itself works quick and as expected.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't like that I have to get a Gusto credit card to get paid early

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes it easy to clock in my work hours and get paid, providing a simple and navigable interface without unnecessary features.

  ### 20. A Simple and Efficient Payroll Solution!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maddi S. | HR Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto’s overall day-to-day performance is phenomenal. As an HR representative, I use Gusto daily and rarely run into any performance issues. When I do come across a problem, the chat support is super helpful and quick to get me answers. I also really enjoy the integrations with Google Workspace and Quickbooks—it’s nice to have everything in one place.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Personally, I have no concerns with the employee log-in experience. From an HR perspective, though, I do wish there were a quicker way to view employees’ PTO and overall information without having to open each individual drop-down. Something more like a recap board or summary view would make it much faster.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has helped us with understanding reports and the built in filters when creating or updating reports. Gusto is super helpful with every issue, quick to respond, whether its AI or a real life representative.

  ### 21. Intuitive, Mobile-Friendly HR and Payroll Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney S. | Resource Navigation Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is easily the best payroll software I've utilized. The streamlined and intuitive interface is easy to use, bright, and inviting. I really appreciate the mobile integration, allowing me to access all my HR and payroll info, benefits, and more quickly from an app on my phone without needing to log into a dedicated website. The ability to integrate with the kiosk app, time clock, break room, desktop apps, and phone apps is really helpful. The directory features make it easy to find who I need for a given task and contact them, which is a huge plus. The software somehow makes HR and payroll fun with features like answering fun about me questions and seeing coworkers' responses, which adds a personalized touch. I like having all my information in one place, and I don't have to dig through separate portals for paycheck stubs, paychecks, and onboarding paperwork. The countdown feature for break times is a nice touch that makes life easier, and the app's design is smooth and effortless to use. It was easy to get onboarded with the software and to set it up, taking just a few minutes of time once my account was created. Overall, it's a very inventive software.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would appreciate kind of an internal messaging system. Even though it does have an option for contact information, it would be helpful to message someone in HR directly within the app to draw their immediate attention to what's needed. An internal messaging system would really be a value add.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Gusto to be the best HR and payroll software I've used. It's intuitive, easy to use, and integrates well across devices, making HR and payroll info accessible quickly. The geolocation and directory features are hugely helpful.

  ### 22. Surprisingly Easy Payroll Migration with an Intuitive, User-Friendly Website

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Office M. | Office manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It is extremely easy to navigate and to use. We migrated from having a payroll company handle everything beyond our reporting of the number of hours for our employees; the conversion into this "do it yourself" method that Gusto offers was surprisingly easy. I like the look and flow of the website, also; it is very intuitive and follows common sense standards. I would definitely recommend the system to others.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't really notice anything so far that I don't like.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is definitely giving us access to seeing the entire history of our employee payroll which is a huge improvement over having a payroll company handle it! I also appreciate the direct deposits; we have always had our employees cash paper checks, but dd is greatly appreciated by our staff for the timeliness and the ease of it.

  ### 23. Efficient, User-Friendly Platform with Room for Notification Customization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zion G. | Administrative Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to accurately track my work hours and compensation, and it helps me ensure my time is recorded correctly for each pay period. I appreciate the transparency it offers, allowing me to easily review my hours and earnings, which gives me confidence that my payroll is accurate. The automation of much of the payroll process saves me time and reduces manual errors, making tracking my hours and payments more efficient. The initial setup of Gusto was very straightforward and intuitive; I was guided step-by-step in a clear, organized way, making it easy to complete the setup confidently without assistance. I love how user-friendly the interface is, with a clean layout and simple navigation, which makes it easy to find what I need without spending time searching through menus.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I’d like to see more customizable notifications and reminders for timesheet submissions and payroll updates that would help ensure important tasks aren't overlooked. More customizable notifications and reminders will make it easier to stay on top of important payroll tasks, allowing users to choose when and how often they receive reminders before timesheets are due could help prevent missed submissions. It would also be helpful to customize notifications for events such as payroll processing, direct deposit confirmations, paycheck availability, tax document release, or requests to review and improve hours. Having the option to receive these alerts by email, text message, personal notification, and to set individual preferences for each type would create a more personalized experience and reduce the likelihood of confusion.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to accurately track work hours and ensure correct compensation. It streamlines payroll, reducing time and errors, with a user-friendly interface that boosts efficiency and accuracy. I appreciate the transparency and automated payroll processes, which save time and minimize manual errors.

  ### 24. Gusto Makes Small Business Payroll Painless and Fast

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brett Ross R. | Realtor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto makes running payroll for a small business genuinely painless. The interface is clean and intuitive — running payroll takes just a few minutes each cycle, and the dashboard makes it easy to see what's due and when without digging through menus. Setup for California state and federal tax registrations was straightforward, and Gusto handles the tax filings automatically, which takes a huge mental load off. I also appreciate how it keeps everything organized in one place — payroll, tax forms, and employee records — so I'm not juggling multiple systems. For a solo operator or small team, the time saved each pay cycle is the biggest win. I'd recommend it to any small business owner who wants payroll off their plate without hiring a bookkeeper just to manage it.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Nothing major. If I had employees perhaps pricing would be a different consideration

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Gusto, running payroll took a lot of manual back and forth just to make sure taxes and filings were handled correctly. Now it's mostly automatic, so I save time every pay period and don't have to worry about missing a deadline.

  ### 25. User-Friendly Payroll with Essential Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fe M. | Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Secretary, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has become an essential tool for running my payroll and small business operations. What stands out most is the outstanding UI/UX — the interface is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate even when I’m short on time. Everything is well-organized, and I can quickly find what I need without digging through menus.
I especially love the seamless integrations, particularly with Clair for on-demand cash advances. This has been incredibly helpful for managing cash flow during tighter months. I’ve also used the tax filing tools, and they integrate smoothly with everything else on the platform.
Performance is reliable and fast — payroll runs smoothly every time, reports load quickly, and I’ve never experienced downtime or glitches. I always feel confident that my payroll status is up-to-date and accurate.
On pricing and ROI, Gusto delivers strong value. While it’s an investment, the time it saves me on payroll, taxes, and compliance more than pays for itself. As someone balancing a full-time job, full-time studies, and running FM Notary LLC, the efficiency gains are worth every penny.
The support and onboarding were excellent. The initial setup was straightforward and user-friendly, and I was able to get everything configured quickly. Whenever I’ve had questions, the support team has been responsive and helpful.
I’ve also started exploring Gusto’s AI and intelligent features, which are impressive. They help surface insights and automate tasks that used to take more manual effort, making the platform even smarter over time.
Overall, Gusto gives me peace of mind and control over my finances and payroll. It’s one of the best business decisions I’ve made.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Honestly, I have not found anything significant that I dislike about Gusto. It has been a reliable, user-friendly platform that meets all my payroll, tax, and cash flow needs very well.
The only very minor thing I can mention is that I occasionally wish the mobile app had a few more advanced reporting features (I usually end up using the desktop version for deeper reports), but this is a small preference rather than a real issue. Everything else — from the intuitive UI/UX and seamless Clair integration to performance, support, and overall value — has been excellent.
I’m genuinely very satisfied with Gusto and would recommend it without hesitation.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves several key problems I was facing with payroll, taxes, and cash flow as a small business owner, full-time student, and single mom.
Before Gusto, staying on top of payroll, tax withholdings, and compliance while juggling a busy schedule felt overwhelming and time-consuming. Now, I’m always aware of my payroll status in real time, with clear updates and notifications. This peace of mind is huge — I no longer worry about missing deadlines or making errors.
The integration with Clair for on-demand cash advances has been a game-changer for managing cash flow. When unexpected expenses come up or money is tight between pay periods, I can access my earned wages quickly and easily. That flexibility reduces financial stress significantly.
Overall, Gusto streamlines everything — from easy setup and intuitive UI to reliable performance and excellent support. It saves me hours every month that I can spend on my studies, my daughters, or growing my notary business instead. I’m very satisfied with how Gusto has simplified my financial operations and given me greater control and confidence.

  ### 26. Payroll for Small Business

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dawn D. | Business Owner/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I still like the ease of use for small, uncomplicated businesses. I also like that it integrates with QuickBooks Online, making my job as an accountant easier.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would like it to be able to track locations for 1099 contractors, and be able to split hours amount different cities. In Ohio, that is the biggest challenge, the city tax authorities. Being able to track these in Gusto would be a great feature for construction businesses, as well as other service based businesses that travel. The tax notice research is not accurate. Amended returns for OH cities not made for adjustments to prior periods, causing me to have to pick up the slack. I also did not like how it automatically added Guideline to a client, that was using Human interest at the same time, causing me strife.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is making it easier for me by atomating tasks. Most clients are single owner S Corps and need a regular salary, Gusto easily lets me set that up, and keep them regular.

  ### 27. Well-Organized and Intuitive — Finding What I Need Is Effortless

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I find the system to be very well organized and user-friendly, making it easy to locate the information and resources I need. I also appreciate having convenient access to the employee documents I have signed, as it allows me to review company policies and procedures whenever I have questions or need clarification. Having everything centralized in one place has made it much easier to stay informed and confident that I am following organizational expectations.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One area that could be improved is the responsiveness of the system when clocking out for breaks. At times, there is a noticeable delay or lag before the action is processed, which can make it unclear whether the time entry has been recorded successfully. Improving the system's speed and reliability during the clock-in and clock-out process would help create a smoother user experience and provide employees with greater confidence that their time is being tracked accurately. Overall, this is a minor issue, but addressing it would enhance the efficiency and usability of the system.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has been a very user-friendly platform that makes it easy to access important company information and manage my employment details. I appreciate how simple it is to locate company documents, review signed forms, and keep track of my work hours in one centralized location. The platform also makes it easy to view paid holidays and other time-off information, which helps me stay informed about my schedule. Additionally, setting up direct deposit was a quick and seamless process, with clear instructions that made enrollment straightforward. Overall, Gusto has been an efficient and convenient tool for managing both payroll and employee information.

  ### 28. A Reliable Payroll Solution for Small Teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maxx D. | Milstein Scholar, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has completely simplified payroll for our small business. Before switching, we were manually calculating tax withholdings and chasing down compliance deadlines, which ate up hours every pay period. Now, payroll runs automatically, and Gusto handles federal, state, and local tax filings without me having to think about it.

The onboarding flow for new employees is a standout feature — new hires can fill out their own W-4s, set up direct deposit, and sign offer letters digitally, which has cut our onboarding time from days to minutes. I also really appreciate how transparent the pricing is; there are no hidden fees, and the tiered plans make it easy to pick what fits our team size.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My biggest frustration is with the reporting features — they cover the basics well, but if you want to build a custom report or slice the data in a way that isn't already templated, options are limited. I've had to export to a spreadsheet and manipulate things manually more than once.

Customer support, while friendly, can be slow during peak times like open enrollment or year-end tax season. I've had a couple of tickets take a couple of days to get a real answer, which is stressful when it's payroll-related and time-sensitive.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto takes payroll taxes, employee onboarding, and benefits deductions off my plate — things that used to mean spreadsheets, manual calculations, and constant worry about compliance deadlines. Now taxes file automatically, new hires onboard themselves online, and benefits deductions sync without extra work on my end. The result is I save several hours every pay cycle and don't need a dedicated HR person to stay compliant.

  ### 29. Gusto Simplifies Payroll and HR with an Easy, Reliable Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bella A. | Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

We've had a very positive experience using Gusto for our payroll and HR needs. As a growing business, we wanted a platform that was easy to navigate, reliable, and would simplify our payroll process, and Gusto has delivered on all of those expectations.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I am very happy about the platform! One of the things we've appreciated most is Gusto's customer support. Whenever we've had questions during setup or while learning the platform, the support team has been responsive, knowledgeable, and willing to walk us through the process. That level of support has made the transition much less stressful.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The onboarding process was smooth, and setting up our employees was much easier than we anticipated. The platform is intuitive, making it simple to process payroll, manage employee information, and access payroll reports. Our employees also appreciate being able to view their pay stubs, tax forms, and personal information through the self-service portal without having to reach out to our office.

  ### 30. Seamless Move from ADP: Gusto's Clear Guidance, Easy Benefits & Flawless First Payroll

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica B. | Vice President and Chief Giving Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Being a long-time ADP user, I was apprehensive about moving to another payroll platform. I needed the full-service multi-state tax filings and benefits management that I was used to, but I was tired of the high monthly fee. My favorite thing about Gusto (so far) is that every step has been laid out for me in plain English. I didn't have to research the state requirements separately because Gusto guided me through what I needed to know (and I definitely learned a few things along the way). The representative who helped me with setup questions was very patient. We successfully set up our benefits package, onboarded our employees, and ran our first successful payroll yesterday.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I can happily report that I have not run into any frustrating moments with Gusto. The initial set up, selection of benefits packages, and employee onboarding went very smoothly, and our first payroll ran without a hitch.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our highest priority in selecting a payroll service was ensuring compliance with federal and multi-state tax and reporting requirements. We also wanted the payroll process to be seamless for our employees. Now that we have Gusto set up and running smoothly in the background, our employees and administrative staff will save valuable time.

  ### 31. Easy to Use with Handy Pay Advance Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Camarin A. | Restaurant Server, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like how easy Gusto is to use, especially in the app. It's secure, and I use the Clair advance payment feature along with the Gusto spending account as my primary spending account. The Clair advance is convenient when I need extra cash for bills and unexpected expenses. It's also easy to repay since my direct deposit takes care of everything, so it handles the responsibility of paying it back. The spending account is easy to access and lets me see everything at a quick glance. Everything works very well. The email communications are quick too. I use the app, the Clair advance, and the web version. I've used Gusto as an employee with a different employer before and was always happy with the program. What stood out was the user-friendly aspect, the quick setup, the easy document completion, and the simple process of running payroll. The initial setup was super easy and took all of 5 minutes. I'd rate it a 10 out of 10 to recommend.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Everything works very well. The only thing I would add is a live chat feature for customer service, but the email communications are quick too!

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps me budget and track my time, spending, and paychecks. I use the Gusto Spending Account as my primary account and the Clair advance payment feature is convenient when I need extra cash for bills and unexpected expenses. It's easy to repay since my direct deposit handles it.

  ### 32. Effortless Time Tracking and Easy Document Access

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary J. | Event Management Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that the interface is really easy to use and navigate. The support team seems really available and the FAQ pages are easy to access. It makes it easy to clock in and clock out and to edit any shifts in case I need to go back and add a note to my hours. It also keeps my tax documents and pay stubs easily accessible and lets me see when upcoming paychecks are set to release. Earlier this year, I was getting all my tax documents in order to file my taxes, and though those documents are sometimes difficult to find through your job, Gusto's interface made it easy to navigate to the pay stubs, W-2 forms, and other documents I needed to make the whole experience smoother. The interface being simple, straightforward and not too cluttered makes it easy to use on a day to day basis. It's clear and visually simple but refined, so I'm not wasting time trying to navigate around a cluttered or clunky website. I can also access it from my phone and the app is super easy too, so if I'm on the go I can access all that I need. The setup was pretty easy with the instructions that were sent, and it was smooth and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

On the mobile app, I think that there might be a discrepancy in the total hours for the month or for the pay period. The mobile app does not always include PTO time in total hours. Since the breakdown is a little bit more detailed on the website version rather than the app, I will typically just double check it on the computer in order to view my total hours.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I work from home, Gusto makes it easy to clock in and out and edit shifts when I take a break or add a note to my hours. It keeps my tax documents and pay stubs easily accessible, and lets me see when upcoming paychecks release.

**Official Response from Chelsea B:**

> Hello,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Gusto! We're glad to hear that our platform has been helpful for tracking time, managing time off, and accessing paychecks. We appreciate your feedback and are happy to have you as a satisfied user.

  ### 33. Gusto Makes Payroll Effortless: Clean UI, Easy Pay Access & Reliable Notifications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zakari L. | Lead Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is how easy it is to access my pay information. I can quickly view my pay stubs, tax documents, and payment history in one place. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, and I appreciate getting notifications when I'm paid. Overall, Gusto has made the payroll process simple, convenient, and reliable from an employee's perspective.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven't experienced any major downsides so far. If I had to mention one thing, I'd say it would be nice to see even more customization options and additional self-service features. Overall, my experience with Gusto has been very positive, and it has worked well for my payroll needs.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes it easy for me to receive my pay on time and access all of my payroll information in one place. I can quickly view my pay stubs, tax documents, and payment history without having to contact HR or payroll. This saves time, keeps everything organized, and gives me confidence that my payroll information is accurate and easy to access whenever I need it.

  ### 34. Gusto: Effortless, Reliable Payroll for Solo S-Corp Owners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hamish P. | Solo operator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I'd never run payroll for myself before as a new S corp owner, and Gusto helped me get set up for the relevant taxes, run payroll, and complete everything in about half an hour of work. It all felt intimidating and overwhelming at first, but Gusto made the process extremely easy. The UI is very clear and simple, the app works reliably, and it turned what could have been a complicated set of tasks into something straightforward and low‑stress. The price feels really fair considering how much they handle, and I like that it integrates with a variety of accounting tools.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven't encountered any major downsides yet. I was a little confused about some specifics of California tax rules, and there could have been a bit more guidance on what is likely to be necessary for a solo S corp. I also don't like the advertisements for various insurance products, which aren't necessary for solo, service-based S corps. Beyond those points, it's been perfect.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am now legally required to run payroll and to complete the necessary tax registrations and filings. Gusto runs payroll for me—something I wouldn't have known how to do on my own—and it guided me through registering for all the legal requirements, helping ensure I remain in compliance with the relevant laws.

  ### 35. Stress-Free Payroll, Effortless Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jess f. | Jessica Luepke, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like Gusto's ease of use. The website is very user friendly and understandable, and it makes payroll stress free. It sends reminders and makes onboarding very, very easy, so new employees don't miss anything that is important. They handle everything, and we feel confident that we are taking all the right steps. They remind us when our payroll is due, and they take out all the necessary benefits and taxes and handle that all for us with just a few clicks. It is amazing and saves us so much time, energy, and anxiety. When we hire new employees, we don't have to worry about missing a step with getting them set up for taxes or not getting them paid on time. We can feel confident that we offer a great program and reliability as far as their paychecks. The initial setup was extremely easy, a very smooth process with clear steps. We were doing payroll manually or sending it to our accountant before, so this is much better.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Nothing!

**Recommendations to others considering Gusto:**

If you don’t have much understanding of all the details surrounding payroll, get Gusto!! They’re amazing and make it so easy for you.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto sends reminders and makes onboarding very easy, so new employees don't miss anything important. It reminds us when payroll is due and takes out all the benefits and taxes with just a few clicks. We don't worry about missing a step or paying people late, and it saves us so much time, energy, and anxiety.

  ### 36. Intuitive Payroll Setup with Helpful Proactive Notifications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron W. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Fairly simple and intuitive interface, most things were pretty easy to figure out, even for a first timer running a business with multiple employees. They have a fairly innovative system. Adding employees is pretty straightforward as is running payroll. I also really appreciate many of the proactive frames or notifications helping you not only remember things on your to do list, but also sometimes suggesting things you didn't know could be helping you out in your business!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Switching between pay schedules was a bit of a hassle and we had some snags figuring that out. Also trying to get our unpaid time off in place to be able to deduct from a salaried person's pay was a bit tricky.

Other than that, the cost can be a little bit annoying. It's not necessarily too bad, but it lacks options and even for a single small change in your needs, you potentially have to jump to another subscription tier significantly multiplying your costs.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's taking care of payroll and the associated taxes by integrating with both federal and all necessary state's tax departments saving us significant time with back office HR work, allowing us as founders to focus more on our product and growth.

  ### 37. Gusto Makes Payroll and Taxes Seamless, Fast, and User-Friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda D. | Practice Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is the easiest payroll software to use! It is user friendly, not only for employers but for employees as well. Adjusting hours, updating information, ease of processing payroll and much much more! Set up was quick and easy. It makes paying and filing taxes seamless and efficient. There is no other payroll service that I would recommend more than Gusto!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I have not run into any issues so far that have made me unhappy and we have been using Gusto for 6 years now.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a mixture of salary and hourly employees and the ability of our employees to go in and input their hours or edit their time card and submit for approval allows admin time to focus on other issues. Gusto keeps track of payroll tax which makes filing taxes at the end of the year less stressful.

  ### 38. Modern, Intuitive Payroll That Saves Hours with Seamless QuickBooks/Xero Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Regina G. | Clinical Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto stands out as an exceptional, all-in-one platform thanks to its modern UI/UX, which replaces traditional, clunky payroll systems with a clean and highly intuitive checklist interface. It integrates seamlessly with accounting and time-tracking tools like QuickBooks and Xero, eliminating double data entry with flawless performance and zero system lag. While the per-person pricing structure can add up as your team grows, the ROI is undeniable given the hours saved on automated tax compliance—essentially doing the work of a part-time HR admin. From an onboarding perspective, the employee self-service portal makes onboarding new hires virtually paperless, and while customer support response times can vary by plan tier, the system's built-in intelligence and automated error-flagging more than make up for it by catching payroll anomalies before they become costly mistakes

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

While Gusto is an excellent platform, its per-employee monthly pricing structure can get quite expensive as your team grows, making it less cost-effective for larger companies. Additionally, the tier-based customer support means that faster phone response times and dedicated HR professionals are locked behind their most expensive plans, leaving lower-tier users to rely more heavily on chat or email support. The mobile app experience could also use improvement, as it is heavily geared toward employees rather than giving administrators full, robust control over payroll on the go. Finally, while the platform handles standard multi-state payroll well, its international contractor and global payroll features are still somewhat limited compared to specialized global employment platforms.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the massive headache of manual payroll management, fragmented HR paperwork, and complex multi-state tax compliance. Before Gusto, keeping up with local tax laws, filing quarterly reports, and onboarding remote workers required bouncing between different systems and risking costly compliance errors. By automating all tax calculations, filings, and direct deposits, Gusto eliminates that administrative burden entirely. The primary benefit to me is massive time savings and total peace of mind; tasks that used to take hours now take a few clicks, allowing me to focus on growing the business rather than drowning in backend HR paperwork.

  ### 39. Centralized Payroll with Room for Smoother Performance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andres A. | Industry Innovation Intern, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to track my payroll, and it solves my problems by putting the money directly into my bank account, which I find very helpful. I like how Gusto helps input my hours into the platform, making it easy for my employer to pay me. I really like the time tracking feature and the cash flow graph. Additionally, I appreciate how everything is centralized; it makes it easy for me to ensure that I'm being paid for all the work I do. Also, the initial setup of Gusto was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think the website could run smoother. And it takes long to load sometimes.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to track my payroll, and it places my earnings directly into my bank account. It helps input my hours, simplifying payments from my employer. I appreciate how everything is centralized, making it easy to ensure I'm compensated for all my work.

  ### 40. Easy Time Tracking and Clear Payroll Info in One Place

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beck W. | Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has been really easy to use from day one. Clocking in and out takes just a few seconds, and it's simple to fix my hours if I forget to clock in or need to make an adjustment. I also like how it keeps me informed about payroll. It's easy to see when I'll get paid, what dates each pay period covers, and how much I can expect on upcoming paychecks. It does a great job of putting all the important information in one place without making it confusing.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My only real complaint is that I'd like a little more control over notifications and reminders. It would be nice to customize exactly what updates I receive and when.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I work remotely, Gusto makes it really easy to track my time without having to deal with spreadsheets or manual time logs. Clocking in and out, taking breaks, and updating my hours if I forgot to clock in only takes a minute. It also keeps all of my payroll information in one place, so I always know when I'll be paid and what to expect. Overall, it simplifies both time tracking and payroll, which lets me spend less time worrying about administrative tasks and more time focusing on my work.

  ### 41. Gusto Saves Hours with Automated Payroll and All-in-One Benefits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** photos2.0 . | Supply Chain, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Honestly, the best part is how much time it saves me. Before Gusto, running payroll for my 8-person team took half a day. Now it's automated and I just review and approve. The benefits administration integration is also a huge plus — health insurance, 401(k), and workers' comp are all in one place.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

When we had a payroll error, it took a few days to get it resolved. I understand mistakes happen, but the turnaround time for fixing issues could be faster.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem it solves is compliance risk. Payroll tax laws vary by state, and as we've expanded to hire remote employees in different states, Gusto automatically handles the registration and filing requirements. This has saved us from potential penalties and lets us hire from anywhere without worrying about the administrative burden.

  ### 42. Gusto Makes Onboarding and Payroll Compliance Easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan F. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like to most about Gusto is that it helps you onboard new employees and keeps you updated about deadlines and specific payroll laws. It also allows you to print reports and will file all necessary SCorp tax information.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It can be a little confusing at first to set up all of the employee information. Once you have done it a couple of times it is much easier. I was able to contact customer support very easily to assist me with a question. I also could do without all the prompting to buy additional services or add-ons like medical benefits or 401k

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It definitely helps with onboarding new employees from different states. This has been very helpful since I am not super familiar with the requirements of other states or how to set up tax information to ensure payments are correctly made. This has helped with peace of mind for sure.

  ### 43. Simple, Reliable, and Easy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Whitney T. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

We've had a great experience with Gusto. The platform is incredibly easy to use for both administrators and employees, making payroll, benefits, and HR tasks simple and efficient. The interface is intuitive, and everything is organized in a way that saves time and reduces frustration.

What stands out most is Gusto's customer service. Whenever we've had questions or needed assistance, their support team has been responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to work with.

Overall, Gusto has streamlined our payroll and HR processes, and I would highly recommend it to any small or growing business looking for a reliable, user-friendly platform.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

At this time, I don't have any significant dislikes or concerns about Gusto. The platform has been easy to use, reliable, and supported by a responsive customer service team. Overall, our experience has been very positive.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has simplified our HR, payroll, benefits, and 401(k) administration by bringing everything into one platform. Having payroll, health insurance, retirement benefits, onboarding, and employee management in a single system saves our team significant time and reduces administrative work. It also creates a better experience for our employees, who can easily access their pay information, benefits, and retirement accounts in one place.

  ### 44. Gusto Streamlined Our Archaic Payroll and Benefits with Easy Onboarding and Great Integrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tenaya K. | Finance Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like Gusto because it has allowed us to consolidate benefits administration and payroll into one platform, whereas previously it was very discrete. The integrations are awesome and have allowed us to replace our previous manual payroll processes. The pricing is fair and as a nonprofit we appreciate the related discount. Onboarding was easy and I felt supported and was able to do it within their stated timeline to run our first payroll on Gusto by our target. It is user friendly for both the administrator and our employees. It keep sus in compliance and we've had no performance issues.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only thing that has been an issue is that I cannot accommodate our current (unorthodox) pay schedule for seasonal employees, but it has encouraged us to move them to a more standardized pay period and we've been able to work around the limitations.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is solving our hourly time tracking problems (have been doing paper time sheets for hours) and keeping us in compliance. Additionally, with 1-9 eVerify it's letting us consolidate onboarding platforms for our seasonal staff.

  ### 45. Specific, Clear Time Tracking That Makes Hours Easy to See

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leksi B. | intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like the time tracking feature. I like how specific it is. I appreciate how it shows the daily and weekly hours. I had a different system at my old job, which was confusing and inconvenient. Gusto has made it much easier and helpful to see my hours. So far, it has been reliable. I have not used it to integrate into other tools in my stack, but that is something I would look forward to. The onboarding was very easy and convenient. The AI has seemed to be easy to work with thus far.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I do not want to create a new card or anything with Gusto or integrate it further with my bank, and the ads for that can be a bit irritating. However, I understand why they are there.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think the ROI for Gusto has been phenomenal. My employer and I have both talked about how good it is for communicating the time for their employees. It has made clocking in from home extremely manageable and easy. Also, I am benefitting because I tend to forget to clock in and out and Gusto makes that SO much easier.

  ### 46. Gusto Makes Payroll Fast and Effortless with Automatic Tax Filings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JAVAJI P. | Supply Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto makes running payroll incredibly simple and fast — I can process it in just a few clicks each pay period. I also love how it handles tax filings automatically, which saves me hours of admin work every month.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Customer support response times can be slow during busy periods, especially when I need urgent help with a payroll issue. The reporting features also feel a bit limited — I'd like more customization options for exporting data.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the headache of manually calculating payroll taxes and filing them on time — it automates that entire process so I don't have to worry about compliance deadlines or penalties. This has freed up several hours each month that I used to spend on administrative payroll tasks, letting me focus more on actually running my business.

  ### 47. Effortless and Simple Payroll Platform for Any Size Company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison M. | Operations Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for payroll, reviews, and benefits. I really like how simple it is to use once everything is uploaded. The ease of payroll, keeping 401k, benefits, PTO, and documents all in one place is very helpful. The time tracking feature with location is great for our mix of exempt, non-exempt, and seasonal workers, allowing them to log in, track their own time, and make edits, which simplifies payroll. Switching to Gusto mid-year from our previous provider was also very easy with no issues from Gusto's side.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The company creation can be confusing. I accidentally ended up with duplicate employee profiles for myself as the creator and an employee. Also, the chat feature is problematic. I was in a live chat, and the person chatting with me disappeared, leaving me without a response for over an hour. There was no way to terminate the chat or start a new one to get a different support person.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto simplifies payroll and keeps 401k, benefits, PTO, employee/manager reviews, and important employee documents organized in one place. Its time tracking allows exempt, non-exempt, and seasonal workers to log and edit their time easily, streamlining payroll processing.

  ### 48. Affordable, User-Friendly Payroll and HRIS That’s Easy for Users and Admins

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ann B. | HR Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

From both a user and an administrator perspective, Gusto is a strong payroll/HRIS system for small- to medium-sized businesses looking for an affordable, user-friendly platform. As a user, you can easily find what you need, and the workflows for recording time, accessing tax documents or pay stubs, and requesting time off feel efficient and straightforward. From an administrative point of view, the initial setup is intuitive, and updates and changes are simple and user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It would be helpful if more live representatives were available for real-time help.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onboarding is straightforward for both employees and employers, which can be a real challenge for anyone who isn’t familiar with a payroll system. Running payroll itself isn’t complicated, either.

In my experience, many issues with other payroll/HRIS systems come from all the extra modules those companies have acquired or built over time. Too often, information entered in one “module” doesn’t carry over cleanly to the others. As a result, HR and Finance teams are left to piece things together by reading sometimes outdated “articles” just to complete complicated workflows, set up user access profiles, and handle other more advanced, tech-heavy functions.

With Gusto, benefits, HRIS, performance management, and time/payroll integrate with relative ease, and that solves a lot of those problems.

  ### 49. Gusto Makes Payroll Simple, Flexible, and Stress-Free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Annette O. | Payroll Manager, Mental Health Care, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has made payroll simple and efficient for our team. The flexibility to process payroll on a timeline that works best for us—whether it's a 2-day or 4-day payroll—helps us manage our workload with confidence. Payroll input is quick and user-friendly, and the ability to create custom earnings and run off-cycle payrolls with short notice is a huge advantage. Most importantly, Gusto makes paying our employees easy, reliable, and stress-free—exactly as payroll software should.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Integrations: I wish Gusto integrated with the vendors we use. I’m hopeful they’ll get to that point in the future, but for now the current integration options don’t fully match our needs.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto gives us the flexibility to run payroll on our own terms, including handling late-notice off-cycle runs or adding custom earnings when they’re needed at the last moment.

  ### 50. Straightforward, Smooth Experience for Clocking In and Reviewing Pay

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison A. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The website is much more straightforward than other platforms I've used like Rippling. Unlike Rippling, it's simple to accomplish the tasks at hand, easy to clock in, and seamless to review pay.

I have not yet integrated to any other platforms because the service is provided to me through a freelance company. I'm unsure about price as well.

However, the performance is great and very smooth. My only issue is that it logs me out pretty quickly.

Onboarding was easy as well and took very little time.

I actually haven't seen much use of AI/Intelligence on the site, if any, but it's nice to go on a site without it. Sometimes that slows down the experience instead of improving it.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My only issue so far has been that it logs me out quickly and frequently, and I haven't seen the option to stay logged in.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has provided me an easy platform for time tracking and pay for freelance work.
