**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It is user friendly for someone like me with very little accounting background.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It can be daunting when trying to integrate with QuickBooks online. I have to map to the chart of accounts so that all of our payroll is categorized correctly and I am having trouble with the mapping.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me with payroll and the HR piece for our company. It will help me perform better in my job with human resources. It will allow me to create an employee handbook which I like. The performance of Gusto will be just what I need to stay on top of compliance for Washington State. I am having a little trouble with integration into QuickBooks but overall the price is right for our company. I look forward to using the AI feature for our company.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for time tracking and payroll, and I appreciate that the site is well made and generally easy to navigate. In comparison to other major time tracking and payroll sites, Gusto is very accessible and easy to use. It’s valuable to me because I don’t have to spend a lot of time trying to sign in or convincing the site to give me access; I just have the access.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I found the tax form portion a bit challenging. Not enough taxes were initially being taken out of my check, so I had to pay extra for taxes this year. Trying to fill out the tax form itself wasn't super easy.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to track my hours and my payment. It solves the problem of monitoring time and payroll effectively.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto support is amazing. They are always available and always helpful, which I really appreciate during challenging situations. I also like the simplicity of the platform, as it saves time with no need for staff to constantly ask questions or troubleshoot. It just makes sense and allows me to focus on what matters most. The time-saving features are a big help, especially since I'm an HR department of one managing a large team and volunteer force.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish there was more flexibility in benefits management when you're not using Gusto's benefits.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes payroll and administrative tasks much easier compared to our previous systems, like ADP or Rippling, which were problematic. Its time-saving features allow me to focus on what matters most, and it's easier for both administration and staff.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that Gusto has an all-in-one dashboard where I can easily access everything, like workers' compensation, background checks, W-2s, and other documents, all in one place. It makes running payroll seamless, filing taxes on time, and compiling necessary items like workers' compensation insurance easy and efficient. I appreciate it because I don't have to spend time looking at different websites, and everything syncs up nicely. I've also gotten great rates for workers' compensation, which is a bonus for me. Plus, the initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish the scheduling was with the basic plan, that would be nice. Sometimes I do have a hard time finding something, but it's usually pretty easy to get a hold of someone to remedy that real quick or just kinda search the knowledge center. It doesn't integrate with the software we use, event rental systems.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to run seamless payroll, file taxes on time, compile workers' compensation insurance, perform background checks, and handle all necessary documents easily in one place. It's valuable because I don't have to look elsewhere, and I've gotten great rates on workers' comp.

I’ve had a great experience using Gusto overall. What I like most is how simple and intuitive the platform is. Payroll, benefits, and tax filings are all in one place, and the interface makes it easy to navigate even if you’re not an HR expert. The automated payroll runs and tax filings save a lot of time and reduce stress, especially during busy months. I also appreciate the clear reporting and employee self-service features — it makes onboarding and managing documents much smoother.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

What I dislike is that some advanced features and integrations can feel limited unless you’re on a higher-tier plan. Customer support is generally helpful, but response times can vary during peak periods. Pricing can also add up quickly as your team grows.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem Gusto solves for me is simplifying payroll and compliance. Before using it, managing payroll, benefits, and tax paperwork was time-consuming and confusing. Gusto streamlines everything into one system, reduces manual errors, and helps ensure compliance with tax regulations, which gives me peace of mind and frees up time to focus on growing the business.

All the features I need are all found in this one app! It makes my life easy, from clocking in to requesting time off. I've never had an issue with the app not loading correctly, and it was easy to get started in the app when I first joined my company.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It would be nice if Gusto could tell me how many hours/minutes I have left in my work week so I can know exactly when I can leave at the end of the work week instead of just guessing! I don't use any of the AI features because I have no need of them; they are superfluous. I was unable to integrate my work schedule into my Google calendar and have to do that manually, unfortunately.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In juxtaposition to other workforce apps I have used in the past, Gusto shows the number of PTO hours I have remaining in any given period, instead of leaving me to guesstimation.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto primarily for payroll and tax purposes, and it's made it significantly easier to pay my employees while at the same time help to create stronger relationships with them as they are happier. Gusto is very user-friendly. Very rarely have I not been able to figure something out through the platform. In the few instances where that's been a problem, it's easy to jump on a chat or call to have my questions answered. As a business manager who uses many different platforms, having a platform as simple and reliable as Gusto has made my life a whole lot easier. QuickBooks' interface wasn't nearly as straightforward, and Gusto provides benefits and simplifies HR, which is necessary when I'm already managing so much. The initial setup of Gusto was very easy.

maybe add suggested policies instead of the employer having to come up with everything on their own

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like how Gusto helps me better manage compliance, reminding me to address key compliance issues. It's user-friendly, making tasks simpler. The off-cycle payrolls feature is great for running missed payrolls and correcting any errors efficiently. The initial setup was a cakewalk, making it easy to get started.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would definitely like Gusto to have better control at the back end. Sometimes Gusto asks for the wire transfer of funds; when that happens, customer support shouldn't respond that the issue is 'System Triggered' and they can't help. It would be more helpful if they say this is system triggered but let me override to fix it for you. If L1 can't, at least it should be escalated to a point where it can be fixed and help the customer.

I use Gusto to better manage compliance with timely reminders, and it makes off-cycle payrolls easy for corrections and missed payments.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I find the user interface of Gusto rather simple to use. It integrates with tools to automate the provisioning of user accounts in Microsoft 365 and also integrates with QuickBooks Online fairly easily.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

They literally did not run our payroll last payroll cycle. No notice was sent that it wasn't completed and I learned from my employees that they had not been paid. The issue ended up being a Gusto problem yet no one from Gusto did so mucha s even apologize for it. I received no refunds for our service fees paid in the month. I was not reimbursed for the wire fees I paid in order to get my employees paid. The icing on the cake was the four different lies I was given about why payroll wasn't completed, confirmed in my final support interaction with their absolutely unhelpful customer support team. Gusto was fine until it wasn't, and when it wasn't, they failed HARD. We're leaving for another provider at the end of the quarter.

I use Gusto for payroll, reimbursing business expenses, tracking PTO, and performance reviews. It integrates with Microsoft 365 and QuickBooks Online, simplifying account provisioning and financial tasks.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for time tracking, and I really like how easy it is to make adjustments if I make an error, like forgetting to clock out. It's also great that I can write a note to my manager to let her know about any changes. Gusto is super easy to use, quick and efficient, and I love that it just takes a second to log on, especially with the Face ID option for identification. It makes my life much easier. The initial setup was super easy as well, and within minutes, I was able to sign up and log on my first day on the job.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I have no complaints about Gusto. It's easy-peasy to use!

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for time tracking, which makes it easy to adjust errors and communicate changes to my manager. It's user-friendly, efficient, and simplifies entering or requesting time off. The premium version helps with bill paying through the debit card program.

Easy to use, the mobile app is also clear and easy to navigate, good user interface. I appreciate being able to see the history of pay, and even though I do not utilize all of the features, there are several that allow you to access your pay early or track your money/spending.

I truly do not have any complaints or feedback! This is the first time tracking app I have used of it's kind - it is very user friendly and easy to understand. I cannot thing of anything negative.

Gusto easily helps me track and manage my time at my job - I can differentiate between different types of time spent and can see my pay over time as well, noticing patterns and increases.

I loved how it performed when entering my hours. I also loved the support that was available when setting my account up. The price I was getting was always correct and the AI assistant was a very helpful tool. I feel that this was a great way for me to get paid and it was worth the money. When using this to track my hours it was very smooth and allowed me to optimize my time working. Tracking my hours was extremely simple with the tool that allowed me to make edits and changes. I did not integrate this tool with anything other than my bank account.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Something that I disliked about Gusto was a couple times it wasn't totally accurate with when I was getting paid it was a day off a couple times. This issue confused me because I thought I was getting paid but didn't.

We’ve had a great experience using Gusto for payroll and HR. The platform is easy to use and makes running payroll simple, even with multiple employees. Direct deposit is reliable and tax filings are handled automatically, which saves a lot of time.

Onboarding new hires is smooth and the reminders help keep everything on track. The reports are clear and easy to understand. Overall, Gusto has made managing payroll much less stressful and more efficient for our business.

The main downside is the cost, especially as your team grows and you add more features. Some advanced tools require higher tier plans, which can make pricing increase quickly. Customer support can also take longer than expected during busy times. Overall it is a strong platform, but the pricing structure is something to consider as you scale.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like Gusto for our small business coffee shop because it helps streamline the process of producing payroll and getting employees paid. The onboarding process is something I like most personally; it's very simple and quick, from the initial email to team members joining, to entering their information and verifying their documents, all the way to scheduling them. It's easy for us and straightforward for our team members too. I value the payroll feature because it's easy to process and transparent. Integrating with Outlook email helps keep us in the loop by confirming when payroll tasks are completed or need attention. Setting up Gusto was very easy and didn't take long at all. We love Gusto, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Sometimes our data on the back end should be sent over for tax filing purposes; there have been a few times that it has not automatically done so and has led to us being fined or penalized for a late fee.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Gusto streamlines payroll processing and simplifies onboarding, making it quick and easy to pay employees and onboard new team members. It offers convenience and efficiency, which is why we switched from QuickBooks.

I like Gusto because of its performance and how easy it is to use. The accessibility to each tab is straightforward, and I appreciate the clear CTA titles, which help me navigate and check all the details effortlessly without needing to search with keywords. The setup process was good too, with account creation being simple thanks to step-by-step guidance in the app.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

In improvement, I would say in time tracking. As a user, I would like to have a copy CTA in time entry so that I can enter the hours worked for a day and copy it to the rest of the days instead of updating/editing each time.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto provides details on working hours, benefits, tax, and the pay I'm going to receive. It makes payroll information easily accessible with clear navigation and simple click-through access to each tab.

It’s very user-friendly and easy to understand, with a simple, straightforward layout. I can easily access my checks, hours, and use tools.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Occasionally, there is a glitch here and there. For example, my company has the option of clocking in for a normal shift vs. a weekend shift, and Gusto tends to kick me into the normal shift regardless of what I pick. But I can change it after, so it's not a huge issue.

Gusto makes it very easy for me to see my previous and upcoming checks and provides a helpful budgeting tool

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto makes it possible for our small company to run a fully remote operation with employees in multiple states.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto makes you jump through a few hoops to reach a human who can provide customer service. But I've always been able to get the help I need eventually. 
I have had multiple negative experiences with their Benefits team, and we no longer use Gusto for benefits because of the mistakes they have made.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto does all of the required state compliance, filing, etc. related to payroll, as well as time tracking for our employees.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The fact that it gives employees the ability to manage their own data like view their own pay stubs and update their own contact info; etc saves me a ton of time and effort from being asked to do something that they can easily accomplish on their own. Everything is located in the same spot, therefore I don’t have to access three different sites to complete an employee’s on-boarding or benefits update.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Sometimes the customer service line is busy and sometimes you even get put on hold and when you finally speak with a representative you are not always speaking with the same person therefore you may have to re-explain your issue each time you call. The reporting feature leaves a little to be desired as I frequently cannot locate the report that I need and therefore must reach out to a representative to build it for me which defeats the purpose of using the reporting feature.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to utilizing Gusto, we were accessing various platforms to complete a single payroll cycle - one platform was used to track time worked; another platform was utilized to update employee benefits; and yet another platform was used to gather and update employee paperwork during the on-boarding process. Gusto allows us to utilize one single portal to complete our entire payroll process thereby reducing the amount of time required to complete the payroll process and reducing the risk of losing important information.

I love how they have heard back from feedback through their Claire integrations and added to that for their advancement for in between pay periods and upped the limit for minimums.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Integrations for its 401k program Guideline that they recently acquired a little bit ago better as still a little clunky when it comes to accessing it and you see a simplified view rather than an app or web view redirection.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Definitely helps with payroll, but also makes it easier to see benefits. Also like the survey integration as it’s good for metrics for my company, but also allows me to share my opinion.

I use Gusto for payroll and time tracking for our contractors for our nonprofit. It's really helpful because I wouldn't know how to handle workers' compensation and payroll without it. The customer service is great, making it easy to get my questions answered anytime. I also appreciate the constant upgrades, which are helpful. The time tracking feature is especially beneficial for us. From my understanding, the initial setup was very simple.

Nothing! We are big fans of Gusto

It's a seamless process as a contractor to get paid by my clients, with the reoccurring contract payment happening very easily and all my data right there without any problems. I find Gusto much more efficient and user-friendly compared to other payroll services I have used in the past, saving me tons of time and effort not only in running payroll but also with other employment tasks. I like that everything is "under one roof" as I can run payroll for all my employees, onboard new hires easily, and even advertise for new employees within the same interface. I really love the onboarding interface because it saves so much time when bringing on new hires. The payroll interface is very easy to use, and I like that it automatically lets you know how much PTO or sick time an employee has while entering their hours.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The hiring interface is good, but could use improvement. There are no notifications when someone applies, so the only way you can see if you have new applicants is by logging in and checking the interface. Also, I like the scheduling feature, but I wish it could be enabled on a case by case basis, rather than for everyone or no one. We run a separate scheduling software for some of our employees, so we aren't able to enable it or they would get confused.

Gusto's payroll automation is truly a game-changer. No longer need to do the math or fill out tax forms myself – all my W-2s to quarterly tax forms are done automatically. Onboarding the employees is just as streamlined; they can get the paperwork done online, and I am notified when they aren't. One of its highlights is that it enables me to provide health insurance and 401(k) options right on the platform. I'm surprised at how easy it is to approve time-off or do payroll on the go with the mobile app.

It can get expensive, particularly if you are a large team with benefits. Advanced HR features, such as advanced HR tools, are offered as add-on features, which may not be apparent at first glance.

Unacceptable Data Retention Policy — 1 Star
After canceling my Gusto account, I attempted to remove my banking information from their platform. To my surprise, Gusto's policy allows them to retain your banking details even after you've closed your account and are no longer using their services.
As a former customer, I have no ongoing relationship with Gusto, yet they insist on holding onto sensitive financial information I never consented to keep on file post-cancellation. This feels like a serious violation of consumer trust.
My issues with this policy:

No opt-out: There is no way to delete your own banking information upon account closure.
Lack of transparency: This policy is buried and not made clear during the cancellation process.
Unnecessary risk: Retaining sensitive data for inactive accounts creates unnecessary exposure in the event of a data breach.

Businesses should only hold onto sensitive financial data for as long as there is an active customer relationship. Keeping it beyond that — without a clear legal obligation or the customer's explicit consent — is, in my opinion, unreasonable and should be revisited by regulators.
I would caution anyone considering Gusto to be aware of this policy before handing over their banking details.

I like that Gusto is incredibly user-friendly. Its super easy to find my tax forms or update my account info. The layout is clean and actually feels like a modern app you want to use. I log in often to check my pay stubs and while I haven't had to contact their customer service, I can usually find any answers I might need in their Help Center articles.

One thing I’d love to see improved is the dashboard layout. I really miss being able to see my pay info directly on the home screen as soon as I log in. I find Gusto quite convenient. I like that I can use my card at local ATMs to pull out money easily. It's really helpful that I can use Vester through Gusto to keep track of payments. Also, submitting expenses through Gusto, especially when I'm traveling, makes things simple. I appreciate that Gusto has a savings feature, allowing me to put a percentage of my check into savings for future use. The setup process was smoother than I expected because I could use Gusto's recommended bank, which was a big help when I didn't have a bank account. Our administrator manages a lot with Gusto, and the time tracking works really well. Honestly, setting up with Gusto was easy, and overall it's just pretty convenient.

I absolutely love Gusto's timekeeping app; it's fantastic and has solved my timekeeping problems, which was the number one issue for me. The performance reviews are now done through Gusto, and it's an absolutely terrific process and program. The prayroll feature has tremendously streamlined and simplified the payroll process for me, especially since I do multiple payrolls a month. The ability to have employees be within a certain geographic area to clock in and out is fabulous, as it allows me to know whether they're on-site or off-site. It also gives employees the opportunity to correct errors they've made, which is great. The initial setup of Gusto was very smooth, and I appreciate that ease.

I wish I could have more flexibility in the Time off feature.  I have a school associated with the church and their holidays are different but I can only have 1 set of holidays company-wide.  I'm also very limited on Vacation policies and yet I have several different scenarios.  I think that could be improved upon.  Also, I'd love it if Timekeeping would give me a weekly total on each employees timecard based on our work week of Sun-Sat.  Employees knowing exactly how many weekly hours they have worked would be helpful for everyone!

I find Gusto really user-friendly as an HR time tracking application. It's vibrant, fun to use, and has quirky little animations and sayings. Unlike other HR software that can be dull and boring, Gusto is colorful and engaging. It's also incredibly easy to set up, which is something I really appreciate. Doing things like managing state forms and other requirements is straightforward, almost like signing a form without having to use a PIN.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think maybe the time tracking could be a little bit easier. When I time track, and I'm adding in my breaks, it's tedious to put in the California breaks. So just to maybe have a slot where I can just put I took this break, I took this first break, and then I took the second break. Now where I have to, like, actually enter the times, that's all.

I love how Gusto is very easy to use both on the phone application and on the website. It allows me the freedom to check in how many hours I have, and I can access documents on the spot if I need to show my paystubs somewhere. I also value the clock-in tools, the time sheet, and the ease of accessing my paystubs. The ability to estimate payments and distribute money into a savings account is a big plus for me. I appreciate how everything I need is right at my fingertips. Additionally, the initial setup was incredibly easy, which made transitioning smooth for me.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Sometimes I think it would be good to see about being able to leave a note even if we can't edit the timesheet because sometimes I forget to let my manager know to correct the sheet and from what time to what time. So that way, even if I can't edit my hours, I have a registered note of what would need to be corrected.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to get paid, manage documents, track time, and handle health benefits. It's easy to use on both phone and web, allowing me to check hours and access documents on the go, like paystubs when needed.

I like the ease of setting up direct deposit. I also appreciate the breakdown of paystubs and how you can set up partial deposits into different accounts. I have utilized the "Rainy Day" savings and I like that it auto-deducts from my paychecks.

I also appreciate that Gusto hosts multiple "companies" on my profile. Whether I'm an employee or a contractor, it's all in one place.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There isn't much that I dislike about Gusto. However, I recently started using the time tracking tool and I'm not a fan of how we can't input hours in the future. For example, if it's a Monday but I know what I will be doing on Friday, I would like to be able to record those hours for Friday ahead of time.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work short-term and seasonal jobs from time to time. Recently, some of those companies have started using Gusto and it's made my life so much easier. There's no more going to pick up a physical check or tracking payments through platforms like Paypal. Instead, I can link my existing Gusto account to the company and get paid by direct deposit. I have also benefitted from the tax and documenting features that alert me when personal information is needed and when tax documents are ready. I no longer need to keep an eye out for tax documents in the mail.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love using Gusto for payroll because it makes tracking my hours really simple. I can easily use the app on my phone when I'm out in the field or on my laptop, which is super convenient. I also love that it keeps my hours and money all in one place since I use it for a checking account too. The thing I appreciate the most is the ease of logging my hours. Plus, I love the little piggy bank icon that changes with the seasons while the page loads. Another great feature is the simplicity of correcting my hours if I forget to clock in or out, which means I don’t waste time making sure everything is correct.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Whenever I am editing my hours if I click anywhere outside of the box where I enter my time, the entire process of entering time starts over. That can be kind of frustrating. When I am entering edits to my hours it would be nice to just be able to hit enter or if I accidentally click out of the box, I would like the info I just input to be saved.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to easily track my hours and manage my payroll and benefits. It simplifies time logging, even on the go, and keeps my hours and payments in one place, saving me time and hassle.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like the ability for our staff to interface with our Gusto account. They can easily access past pay stubs or make adjustments to their tax withholdings. They can also manage time-off requests easily, which, after approval, smoothly integrate with the payroll filing for the relevant period. This offers the level of clarity that we need from our staff — not just whether a day is needed off, but how many hours are impacted versus the need to define comp hours. All of that can easily be tracked and handled without back-and-forth email communication. The initial setup was incredibly easy. I recommend it pretty often, giving it a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There are minor things that we've learned to watch for. When holidays come up, the automatic payroll hours miss that change. It should offset them, but we do that manually. I'd also like a way to easily see the fiscal year total for a staff member so I can reconcile that against our budget.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto simplifies federal and state paperwork, provides easy access to past pay stubs, and facilitates time-off requests which integrate with payroll, reducing email back-and-forth.

I find Gusto's interface easy to use. I like that staff can track their own hours and request time off. It includes policies for vacation and holidays, and I also like their help section. Time tracking is nice because employees are in charge of their own time tracking. Having a singular place for time-off requests means I can review and see them at any point. The vacation and time-off policies ensure everyone is treated the same, reducing administrative HR mistakes. I really like the help section because if I have a quick question, I can just review it without needing to reach out to someone.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It can be difficult to get anyone to actually talk to you on the phone if I need support. It's also difficult to find things on the website because things aren't named similarly. Like the benefits, versus time tracking policies, versus overtime policies are all in very different places, and in my opinion, it should all be under time tracking.

I use Gusto for paying employees on time, ensuring tax and state reports are completed, and maintaining a payment history for unemployment insurance.
