I sometimes want to see enrichment data go deeper and perhaps by displaying some context around new actors or linking out to threat reports from right within the dashboard. I also find the historical view a bit shallow when I’m trying to track activity over many months. What I love most about GreyNoise is that it really does cut through the noise. Instead of drowning in endless alerts, it actually just reveals which IPs are just scanning the internet and which ones to really pay attention to. Its speed and accuracy have saved me so many hours; it would take a whole day to trace what often turned out to be false leads. Sometimes, the interface feels a little cramped, and I wish some of the text was more readable without zooming in. I’ve also run into rare situations where an IP lookup took longer than expected during peak hours. An export feature for richer offline analysis would make my life even easier. The tagging system is very useful for grouping sets of unwanted IPs and therefore we are able to distinguish between benign and malicious traffic. I really like how GreyNoise helps me filter out phishing and malware-laden emails before they even hit my users’ inboxes. It has great impersonation protection that catches spoofed “CEO fraud” attempts that I’ve seen bypass other tools. It can be a little too severe with filtering URLs and domains, marking real links as suspicious. I’ve had a few users complain about having to resend documents after emails were mistakenly blocked.
