I enjoyed the additional detailed data sheet which can be viewed for each material once a shortlist had been created. **What do you dislike about GRANTA EduPack?** Sometimes overlapping bubbles on the bubble graphs were hard to distinguish, especially when they overlapped each other **Recommendations to others considering GRANTA EduPack:** I had no experience with material analytics before however after one lecture I was as fluent enough to carry out important work during my degree without any support. This was thanks to how straightforward it is to use. **What problems is GRANTA EduPack solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was using the software for redesigning railway Earthing equipment. I verified that Type E epoxy impregnated glass fiber was the ideal material choice for low conductivity and high resistivity (both electrical). Amazingly the software was able to plot each parameter against the other and generate a bubble graph. This saved me hours of research ### 2. Because its so intuitive, the software saves you time and in the end money, I have loved using CES edupack for a long time right from my studies through to my work. **What do you dislike about GRANTA EduPack?** It can be a bit memory hungry, I think this isn't really a problem as such though, only means older machines wouldn't be able to utilise it as well as more modern machines can. **Recommendations to others considering GRANTA EduPack:** Got problems with materials anlysist, use this software, you can thank me later. **What problems is GRANTA EduPack solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do a lot of material anlysist work at my current work, I have a lot of experience with CES edupack and so have been chosen as someone who teaches others how to use it at my current work. For me the software has provided me with more responsibility in the work place which in turn has put me in a good light with the bosses, always ideal, but in terms of my work, I know that without this software we would be incredibly hard pushed to successfully find correct materials for the applied job. ### 3. The ability to use graphs and figures to breakdown the comparisons between similar materials can be helpful when predicting design capabilities of potential materials. There is also information regarding various alloys and polymers, which have fundamentally improved mechanical properties in some cases. The processing library holds information regarding shaping, joining and surface treatment that can be useful to learn and apply in practical situations. **What do you dislike about GRANTA EduPack?** The interface is a bit lacking and not too easy to operate for new users. A more minimal layout might help in some cases. They could also implement a library that can redirect you to research papers for a certain material, so the more curious users could learn more interesting information. **Recommendations to others considering GRANTA EduPack:** Do check out the vast library of materials and let your curiosity lead you to learning more about this. **What problems is GRANTA EduPack solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used it for a materials course in my third year of University and found it extremely helpful and I also used CES to identify material properties for my final year thesis report. It is possible to select between several manufacturing processes and identify which are the ones feasible to manufacture the intended part and evaluate the expected costs of each process as well as the environmental impact of the part through its lifecycle. But thanks to the CES EduPack , we managed to identify the main source of carbon release and invest our efforts and costs in the main issue. **What do you dislike about GRANTA EduPack?** There are many take the fields missing in the software that prevent engineers from picking the very best processes. I remember trying to find the manufacturing cost of some processes but depending on the combination of selections, I couldn't get an answer. It was only showing me a null result or a wrong value. I would like to have access to a more complete and accurate database. I saw some mistakes in the information available. I don't remember if there was a feature to create a personal database with data from my process. But it would certainly be a nice to have. I didn't like much the left side tab, because it seemed a bit difficult and not linear to operate. I believe if the software provided a step by step procedure or wizard assistant, it would make it much easier to people who either don't know how to use the software or don't have the full knowledge of what and how to solve the problems the software aims to solve. Process definition and environment impact analysis. Good for identifying feasible processes for manufacturing your parts according to your design tolerances and intended production scale. The software helps with finding information and what to expect from my products and production systems. This can be used to improve your design and optimize it for reducing costs or environmental impact. I used the software to identify the best feasible processes for manufacturing a aerospace component that would be used in a helicopter. I managed to find a good process that would result in lower production costs in comparison to the initially thought process. Then, I used the ECO pack to evaluate the carbon footprint of the part, analysing the carbon impact on each stage of the part lifecycle. The extensive chart features including limit functions enables the user to quickly compare the properties of materials, providing the user the opportunity to make informed decisions through the use of visuals as opposed to tediously searching through material tables. Material selection has never been more intuitive or engaging! **What do you dislike about GRANTA EduPack?** It is designed for computers running Windows and as such, there is no current support for macOS. **Recommendations to others considering GRANTA EduPack:** Do not hesitate, CES EduPack will greatly improve the efficiency of projects through its comprehensive yet intuitive approach to material selection. Whether you are looking to find a material for a complex design with strict specifications, or just wanting to read about various materials, their properties, and/or their recommended application, then this is for you. **What problems is GRANTA EduPack solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used CES EduPack extensively throughout my undergraduate degree in the design stage for various projects. Most notably was for designing an overhead gantry crane for a nuclear waste decommissioning facility. The criticality of the lifting system ensured that a rigorous and accurate approach were taking to select the best possible materials for the project giving the severity of the consequences of failure. The limit function allowed the desired property data to be inserted to refine our search increasing the overall efficiency of the project. ### 6.
