After I finally gave up trying, I attempted to cancel, but the cancellation process requires you to enter your email—so I ended up stuck in a loop. After spending an inordinate amount of time with customer service, they sent me a long list of instructions that included options I didn’t even have access to. When I asked whether they could simply cancel the account based on my request, they said they couldn’t because of “security.” As a result, it seems I’m going to keep paying indefinitely for a service I haven’t even been able to use. **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** They aren’t benefiting me at all. ### 2. Sheets/Docs - There is no way to customize the tool bar - this means that if you need to look at the sheet on a smaller screen you lose half of the tools and cannot see the one tool you actually want to use. Their options are limited and there mis no way to save a single tab on a Google sheet - you can only save the entire lot as a copy of the original and then delete every tab you don't want - extremely time consuming! 2. Google Voice - This is a terrible part of the suite for a company. It takes ages to set up correctly and with very little help. If you have ring groups set up (which most companies larger than 2 people would need) you get a hideously annoying automated voice tell you there is a call and to accept it you must press 1. The problem is that by the time you get that message and press the key, the person trying to call has hung up! Lost call = lost revenue. Google's answer to this? "We do not have the ability to turn off the request to press a button to receive the call at this time" - Pathetic from such a large company. Texting does not allow emoticons or GIFFs. 3. NO HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT. Never sign up with a company that does not offer customer service when you need it by telephone. I was not able to log into the dashboard of our Google Workspace - guess what every single solution on every google website said "Log into your dashboard and go to the Help section in the top right hand corner"!!!! That is the only answer you get at every turn. No matter where you try and how you word it - the answer is the same. This is the epitome of UNHELPFUL. Again, unacceptable response from such a large company. 4. Google Chat - No way to share uploads between conversations - you have to download it first and then open the folder and then attach it. Such a waste of time. That's why I signed up. **What do you dislike about Google Workspace?** They systematically killed off my free gmail account, then didn't let me organise my email, thus bloating over time. And Now not letting me download emails through the promised IMAP!! My mailbox is now over 25Gb! And IMAP apparently have a 1G daily cap. Also they don't adjust these for the Gmail paid workspace business service which I am shelling a handsome amount each month!!! Overloaded and bloated. Simplicity and speed is lost. Accessibility to the service is not consistent. ### 5. The starting plan costs $8.40 USD a month per user. While the average market price is around $1–3, Google charges to 8 times more than its competitors. 2. There's no separate pricing tier for parked email addresses. We don't use the entire Google Workspace ecosystem; however, we're forced to pay for the whole package. 3. There's no support for shared mailboxes. For system addresses like info, support, billing, dmarc, admin, no-reply, etc., you have to create separate accounts and pay full price for each. 4. The interface is overly complex and confusing, making it nearly impossible to set up a system email address like no-reply. To do this, you have to read through documentation and hire system administrators familiar with Google Console. Even for professionals, this task is challenging due to bugs and strange limitations when creating such accounts. 5. The default font size in emails is 8px. Who is this even designed for? Most websites have long since switched to 16–18px for readability. 6. The biggest issue for me is that every new email address we create ends up in spam automatically. We configure SPF, DMARC, DKIM — and still, all messages go to spam. It would be one thing if external providers marked them as spam, but even Gmail marks emails from its own paying clients as spam. 7. Want something even more absurd? Gmail sends internal corporate emails to spam too. If I create two accounts and send an email from one to the other — it lands in spam. 8. The pricing depends on the country in which the card was issued. However, after changing the card, the pricing is no longer tied to the original country. 9. When I first created my account, I was in Vietnam, and the interface was displayed in Vietnamese. I immediately switched it to English, but system emails are still being sent in Vietnamese. 10. Another thing that really surprised me was their aggressive marketing policy. When creating an account, they don't respect your choices. They ask how many employees your company has, and based on your answer, they automatically assign a plan. For example, if you say more than 50, you'll be placed on the highest-tier plan. Switching to a different plan requires searching online for instructions. If you forget to switch in time, your first invoice could be for thousands of dollars. It's quite obvious this is done intentionally. 11. There's no way to embed a calendar on a website without showing the Google logo — it's always included by default. 12. Google Drive hasn't evolved in years. It doesn’t support column resizing or convenient navigation. To see a file name, you have to hover over it. There're no filters or advanced sorting options. In my opinion, the service level for paying customers is extremely poor and unjustifiably expensive. **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Email service only ### 6. We are incorporated in the US, pay taxes in the US and 100% of our revenue is in the US. Can't fix * 2nd level support looks at it via screensharing. Can't fix. Say that they are going to escalate and I'll be contacted shortly * Extra information sent. No response. * Ask for a timeframe so we can work out how to work around the issue. No response. * Ask again for any information around the timeframe so we can work out how to work around the issue. No response. * Enter chat to ask for timeframe. Spend 45 mins with someone who assures me they have an answer, only to find that they were asking exactly the same questions as 1st level support. Then they can't answer my question about timeframe. Assure me that it has been escalated. * 3 days later (on a Sunday) am sent a response that asks if I would like them to open a job ticket. I respond with questions. My response is ignored * 5 days later I ask again. My response is ignored * 6 days later I get a response. Finally I'm getting somewhere!!! Unfortunately the response ignores my questions and tells me to perform the same steps that I have tried maybe 20 times now. Exactly the same steps that L1 support asked. * 8 days later I get back on the chat. After wasting another 45 mins, I am told that not only can't they help, they can't even tell me when I might receive a response because of "privacy" reasons. I can book a call 2 hours later for someone who might be able to tell me something about timeframes. I do. * I never receive the call. * 1 hour after not receiving the call I try again. The chat person assures me that it has been escalated. On review, it has been escalated in exactly the same way it was in every prior case. * There is nothing they can do to help or tell me when I might be able to get help. The suggestion is to wait by the phone and hope. If that sounds like the type of support experience that you would enjoy then go with Google. Everytime they pretend to temporarily help me, once I leave them a good review everything hits the fan. They have gone so far downhill I don't see google going anywhere. Their customer service has become the worst. If they ever help and I leave a good review, it crashes the next day. I have to complain and threaten to sue to even make anything fixed. I have talked to employees who have stated the company had been destroyed over the past several years. The video and sound, although horrible, isn't impossible to work with. **What do you dislike about Google Workspace?** Not only is the user interface exceedingly difficult to navigate, the sound and video quality always leaves something to be desired. I always need to lean in to hear people clearly and ask multiple times for them to repeat themselves. I've also had people drop from my calls during Google Meetings (not so with Zoom). **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** I've used Google Meet on the rare occasion that Zoom has a bad update or I cannot use my usual work computer. The software sets up instantly and makes it easy for anyone to connect in a matter of minutes. ### 17. Everyone already knows how to use Google services, so the learning curve is nonexistent. **What do you dislike about Google Workspace?** When there's an issue, support is nonexistent. If you need to be walked through a help article, they can do that, but they can't go beyond. If you have an issue, they either deny it, acknowledge it but don't fix it, or give you the run around by sending you to sales, who sends you right back to support. **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's a full-featured productivity suite from email to spreadsheets. Products are generally as good as the microsoft equivalents, but there are troubling signs I want to focus on in this review. **What do you dislike about Google Workspace?** The technical support isn't worth the price asked. I have long had 2 Workspace accounts and Google recently made a policy change to the first account. In brief, they announced they would start charging for legacy accounts, emailing notices of this to an Admin account I hadn't accessed for 10 years. I have no problem paying, but they are requiring me to login to the admin account just to make payment. Unfortunately, I don't have the old login info and the only method they are providing me to regain access to that account is to login to the DNS provider and make entries there. Unfortunately, the email address that is the user for the DNS provider is an email address that is now locked, so there is no way for me to get in. Again, I have no problem paying to get the account current, but Google Workspace won't allow me to make a payment until I go through the prior steps. I have spent 6 hours over 2 weeks winding through a labyrinth of technical support, trying to elevate this to get a solution, but no dice. I can see the Google Workspace product managers are losing course. They are getting too big to support smaller businesses and unlike other software providers, they have total control of the files in your account. I cannot access any files or emails until I find a way to get this elevated up the chain high enough for someone to simply take payment. I have been System Admin at an advanced manufacturing company using Google Workspace for side projects- I am not a luddite. I love Google- I have a pixel, I develop on Android, and I use their apps every day. But I recommend you avoid subscribing to Workspace for now unless you are spending so much that you have a dedicated account manager and are using Google DNS. If you want recommendations of free or paid alternatives please let me know. **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Usual software suite you'd expect. Mail, sheets, drive, easy sharing of the above. But the problem I outline above obviates all of this. My business is at a standstill because of this. ### 19. The video always feels laggy, and it takes a while to acclimate to the audio/video settings and where they're located. The main thing though would be to improve video/audio quality (ideally to match or exceed Zoom). **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is helpful when I wanted to have a longer meeting with more than one person. I have users who are missing files with no explanation where they went. When I called to ask Google what happened they stated that they didnt know and they would escalate the issue, ticket was closed shortly after with no support or recovery of the data. **What do you dislike about Google Workspace?** Unreliable, data has gone missing. They shot an update that corrupted share permissions so a lot of our files ended up in a uncategorized folder or are missing altogether. I opened up a ticket and support stated that the update was for our security and they are sorry but they cant do anything. This is not a tool for any business that needs to maintain the confidentiality, integrity or availability of its documents. Even a backup solution does not help because share permissions are corrupted so the backup solution cannot recognize that owners of documents so documents are not backed up. Also this solution is missing very basic security features like password rules that are available in every other solution provider. As always you get what you pay for and there is a reason why google workspace is priced lower than its competitors. **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have opened up 7-8 tickets with over the past year and Google has not once solved any issues that has come up, they will state that they are escalating the issue and then they will close the ticket out with zero help. Currently I have a ticket open for 3 weeks and I finally received a response after reaching out almost every other day, their response stated "I am reaching out to see if you have an issue, we will be closing this ticket out in 3 days if you dont respond". ### 22. Apple Keynote. Errors keep appearing and work keeps disappearing: "Document couldn't be saved". In order to fix this you need to save the document on the hard disk. PLUS you loose all version history of your presentations too. This is disastrous and I so much regret that I updated to the new version instead of trashing Google Drive. I've had documents, images, and videos stored for years without issue. This means that if your video, image, or other medium is found to be "misleading," they can remove it without your consent. When only dialing in two or three people it is manageable. **What problems is Google Workspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before COVID, google meets was my company's go-to for video conferencing - it was good when only two or three people were dialed into a call and the majority of people in a meeting were all in one room. However, now that everyone works remotely, it seems that Google Hangouts cannot quite handle so many users dialled in at one time.
