GWD allows many custom animations and full control over them. You can customize timelines, eases, and it's a simple tool to quickly learn dope sheet animation in a digital platform. We primarily used GWD for banners and while creating a banner within GWD, seeing its estimated specs, looping it, and general animation was great, there were a few shortcomings.

* If you were not creating flexible sized banners, creating new sizes required starting from scratch for each size. I developed a proprietary tool to overcome this shortcoming in-house and it helped alleviate it, but some updates would break it.

* Support for multiple ad servers was limited by default. You always have access to the code, but by default GWD only supported Google's ad servers. This makes sense, but we needed to support about 12 others as well, so I created another tool to convert that, so our banner animators didn't have to dig into the code and pull it apart and recode clicktags.

* Support cross-platform was spotty. I implemented a full QA team to view our banners across popular browsers. Often something that just worked in Chrome would cause major animation errors in Safari, especially mobile Safari. We avoided using many techniques that were technically available because they didn't behave well cross-browser. We also avoided using real text for this same reason.
