"Good for standalone data searches but not scalable for our company's use case"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Google Trends?

We are using Google Trends extensively to track and analyze search patterns that inform our technology solutions and market strategies, especially for our CCTV solutions and AI video analytics space. Its ability to highlight emerging topics in real time helps us align our offerings with current market needs. The location and category filters are especially useful for understanding regional demand patterns, which is critical for tailoring our solutions to specific industries and geographies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Trends?

From our company's perspective, the lack of absolute search volume data is a limitation, as we often require precise numbers for forecasting and strategic planning. Additionally, older historical data is aggregated into broader timeframes, which can reduce accuracy for long-term trend analysis. More granular demographic breakdowns and exportable raw data would make it even more actionable for corporate decision-making.

Also, we have not been able to integrate it with our forecasting tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Trends solving and how is that benefiting you?

Google Trends helps us identify market demand shifts and emerging interest areas across sectors we serve—such as surveillance, video analytics, and workforce management. By analyzing search behavior, we can anticipate which solutions—like AI-powered CCTV, advanced analytics platforms, or HRMS software—are gaining traction in specific geographies. This insight enables our marketing and product teams to fine-tune messaging, prioritize product features, and time launches for maximum impact. Ultimately, it allows us to stay ahead of competitors and align our innovation pipeline with real-world customer interest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Valuable Insights Made Simple"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Google Trends?

Google Trends provides real-time insights into what people are searching for around the world. I appreciate how easy it is to compare search terms, identify emerging trends and explore interest by region or time period. The interface is clean, interactive and user-friendly even for those without a data background. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Trends?

While powerful, Google Trends lacks deeper filtering options and historical data granularity. Sometimes, the data can be too broad, especially for niche topics. It would also be helpful to export more comprehensive datasets directly instead of just charts or limited CSVs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Trends solving and how is that benefiting you?

Google Trends helps solve the problem of understanding what topics, keywords or issues are currently relevant or gaining interest among the public. This is especially useful for content creation, market research, SEO strategy and social media planning. By analyzing search behavior over time, I can make data-driven decisions instead of relying on guesswork. It also helps identify seasonal patterns and regional interests, which is incredibly useful for targeting the right audience at the right time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Beginner friendly tool for spotting trends"
4/5
What do you like best about Google Trends?

I recently started using Google Trends and found it very beginner-friendly. The interface is clean, and I could search any topic to see how its popularity has changed over time. I really liked the "compare" feature—it helped me understand which tool or brand is more searched. It was useful to explore trending topics and related search queries, especially for content planning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Trends?

It shows relative popularity (0 to 100) instead of actual search numbers, which was a bit confusing at first. Also, there isn’t much guidance for new users, some simple tutorials or tooltips would help understand all features more easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Trends solving and how is that benefiting you?

Google Trends helps me figure out what topics people are currently interested in. I use it to check which search terms are trending, which is really useful for planning YouTube videos and social media content. It also helps me compare keywords to see which one is more popular, so I can choose better titles or focus areas. It’s a quick way to stay updated on what’s relevant and what people are actually searching for online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Strong editorial discovery tool with promising new API"
5/5
What do you like best about Google Trends?

I like how Google Trends delivers aggregate search interest data through a clean Explore interface with filters for time range, geography, category, and content type across Web, News, Images, Shopping, and YouTube. The side panels for related topics and related queries reveal useful semantic variations and adjacent trends that help refine coverage angles.

The 0–100 normalized interest index keeps comparisons visually clear, even when viewing multiple terms in the same chart. The category filter is more powerful than it appears, often revealing distinct patterns for the same query when analyzed in different topic contexts.

The recently announced official Google Trends API (currently in limited alpha) is a major technical upgrade. It offers consistent scaling across requests, a rolling 5‑year data window, multiple aggregation levels (daily to yearly), and geo granularity down to subregion level. The 48‑hour freshness fits most non-real-time analytical workflows, and the consistent data model reduces the need for complex rescaling workarounds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Trends?

Nothing that I don't like either because the service is free! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Trends solving and how is that benefiting you?

Google Trends makes it faster to move from an initial idea to a well‑defined topic by combining time range, geography, and related queries in one view. Category filters keep trend signals clean by avoiding ambiguity, and subregion maps reveal local interest patterns that would be invisible at a national level.

The shared understanding of its 0–100 normalization avoids misinterpretation and keeps discussions focused on trend shape rather than raw volume. Even with a five‑term limit, quick comparisons help prioritize which topics to explore further.

Rising and Top queries refine phrasing and keyword choices, while the workflow from homepage “Trending Stories” to Explore ensures a smooth shift from quick monitoring to deeper analysis.

Awareness of its sampling and variance keeps the focus on meaningful patterns, and with the new API planned for future use, there is potential for more automation later on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
