By simply inputting a Japanese sentence and selecting a foreign language, parents who do not understand Japanese can read school or grade communications in their native language. Since it is not possible to translate into Visayan, which is the native language of foreign students enrolled in schools within the prefecture and is rapidly increasing, if it becomes possible, it would help not only the schools currently in trouble but also those that will accept students in the future. There are still languages that have not been translated in the collection of example sentences for event announcements, etc., which can be downloaded from the prefecture's website. Additionally, for communications not included in the categories of example sentences published by the prefecture, there was no other way to translate them than to request the city's translation staff, even if it was known that it would take more than a week to translate. In such a situation, homeroom teachers have become able to use Google Translate to translate class communications, created in Japanese, into the native languages of foreign parents who do not understand Japanese. I work as a teacher with a large group of Hispanic families, and I only speak English. I use Google Translate for parent correspondence regularly. I am so grateful for this easy-to-use resource. It takes no training as the user interface is very intuitive. My son-in-law speaks Spanish and at first, I had him proof the correspondence.
