**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alekhya V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager enabled me to input my own tags so as to covert my prospects into conversion by re -marketing and target tracking techniques. After I started using this tool, I myself recognised the importance of organic traffic by measuring my site analytics and opted for different other prosperous methods to attract users for my business online. This tool helped me to retarget my clients with re-marketing methods by modifying my site tags as per the users thoughts.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

The only problem I faced with using this tool is that once I accidentally messed up with the Tag Manager code while modifying the tags and thats it! All the tags already given stopped working. Apart from this, all went on good with GTM tool. Since I am from a coding background I could easily understand the errors and flaws while I messed up with the code. But someone else who doesn't have any programming knowledge would surely be under a big trouble if at all they had messed up with the GTM code.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Surely one should use this tool for tracking their organic traffic for the website or new business setup online. This Tag manager is surely a blessed tool for my website data analysis and conversion tracking.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to look my site traffic and analyse the data, statics all at a single click and place. I would surely agree that it even saves my loads of time where I can monitor my whole site visitors, bounce rate details etc. It's so far very easy to use if you just have a little programming knowledge. Many a times I was just checking my business website stats through this tool and changing my tags according to the visitors taste so the bounce rate kept on decreasing slowly.

  ### 7. Necessary, but why another tracking tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

It is hard to setup and I wonder why there is not one centralized platform

Impossible to setup and has odd tracking

- easy to use
- no deep it knowledg neded
- prebuild connectors with the biggest ad plattforms

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

- for us it is unclear how tag manager and A/B testing with for example google optimize work together. There is more dcumentation needed. We found out by try and error that whenever a optimize test is running the pixels (like a facebook pixel for exmaple) ate not firing.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

It is very important to have a strong, well thought through concept of where you want to go with your data layer. Only like this you will avoid problems in the future.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it to implement pixel from ad partner without using any ressources from out it department. We also use it to track custom conversions including scroll depth. For this we had to once set our data layer i a way taht every element would have a action, category and label which are following a naming convention, which we use in the tag amnager and later for analyzing in google analytics.

Nothing, This is our GOTO tool! It could have some more quality of life improvements in terms of organization.

Make sure to do a lot of research into how to properly structure tags. It goes beyond just adding JS codes into websites, and allows for fully dynamic dataLayers that exchange information from your website back into the GTM tags themselves. This can allow you to pass things like product name, price, order total, taxes, shipping and more. The triggering system is also extensive, but nothing beats hardcoded events so it's worth it to research how to code and install them at key points in the user journey!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

GTM is like a Bridge between our Site and other tools.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I think GTM should improve their wordings to more often user friendly for webmasters.
Sometimes it's confusing to understand what and which variable is placed and how?
So, The major thing is Wordings should be updated according to User language.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GTM linked my GA in no time to my site. It just took few seconds to link GA by setting up Tracking ID and that's done.

  ### 23. The google software that I use to add lead capture forms on the website

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Pablo H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I have total freedom to release or pause marketing campaigns according to my calendar and objectives, when using inbound marketing tools you always have to perform A / B tests and I need to add different codes at different times throughout the day and this software I control through its launcher functionality, there I can make a description of what the code will do once enabled, so anyone in charge of launching can easily understand what the changes are to apply and avoid a second explanation, the same happens at time to remove or disable launched tags.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It would be better if there was a way to do a simulation before launching the label, to verify that it works and not make changes once launched because visitors do not stop accessing and can see errors.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Add code to do the A / B tests because I have my own control of the objectives and the actions that I must carry out such as chats, contact forms, emerging forms, in marketing everything is solved with trial and error and that is what that allows me google tag manager to do as many tests as necessary without having to resort to web programming experts to run them all the time

  ### 24. The only platform with which he can add scripts without errors

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manuel G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I work with the help of bitbucket repositories since the creation of the app, the website has been worked by the UI designer, I do not have access to the website code at the moment however the designer has given me access to add code to some parts of the site, I find it interesting because at least in the repositories that I have used it is not possible to give access to only part of the development, it is necessary to give access to all the code, with tagmanager I do not need to open a new repository and it facilitates everyone its use and access management.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It is an excellent tool, as a developer it makes it easy for me to make modifications and keep track of scripting.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Test their use on their equipment, in this way the update activities will not fall on a single person, in the company the people in charge of marketing add tracking codes, the developers add scripts and in that way with other departments of the company, to In mid-2018 we implemented it and each one has worked independently.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is not necessary to have other programs installed or create accounts to access my tags, with login is my account is sufficient, when launching it is possible to immediately test and verify the changes, if there is an error in the script delete the version and make a new one, as if it were an email. The UI designer has not had much trouble adding the code and understanding its operation.

  ### 25. A little too much for the beginner level but great if you have the know-how

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis P. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

It is a great idea to have and manage all your tags in one place. It integrates easily with other Google services which is the main reason I started using it. It does include tools for all the different problems we face when implementing tags.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

As someone who is not a professional coder but proficient enough on entry-level coding I thought that having a place to manage all the analytics and other tags but the system is not very user-friendly and it is hard to find solutions to your problems online. Perhaps it would be easier to use if the flow was a little more streamlined, but as it is you have to know exactly what you are doing in order to make the process flow better.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Make sure you know exactly what your ultimate goal is for your tags, you may find the tag manager is superfluous for your workflow.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google tag manager is meant to make it easier to implement and manage different tags on your website, however, I found it difficult to understand and found even less support online for the product.

  ### 26. Probably the best Tag Management Platforms

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen M. | Senior Product Manager, Hayu, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Arguably one of the easiest Tag Management Solutions to use out there. It also connects to the Google Marketing Platform seamlessly within a few clicks, which makes set up ver straight forward. The product also has a variety of tagging templates (mostly Google related, but there are a couple of other useful ones too) which also helps to speed up tag deployment. Tags can easily be tested in 'Preview mode' before launching to your site without the need to add any extensions to your browser.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

The only downside really is that there is no support per se. GTM has a vast help centre where you can browse topics, but it only provides a rather top line overview of the product and it's features and doesn't really go into specifics. There is not a chat support feature (like other Google Marketing Products) to field any specific questions, so you are on your own if you get stuck.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

GTM should definitely be in the mix for Tag Management Solutions you are considering using for your company or business. The set up is one of the simplest I have experienced when compared to other platforms in the market (one tag added to the header on all your websites pages and you're done) and tags can be added, tested and deployed in a matter of clicks.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With GTM we are helping our clients get their tagging strategies implemented in a fast and streamlines manner without interfering with any web devs release cycles.

Honestly nothing. Google tag manager has a specific purpose (manage your tags) and it does an amazing job at it.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

If you want to save time as a digital marketer and quickly adjust attribution without having to go through an engineering team, use google tag manager.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GTM is managing my tags. It is saving me time and energy in the context of marketing and marketing attribution

  ### 28. Digital Marketing Specialist loves working with Google Tag Manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hannah R. | Digital Marketing Specialist & Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I have so many great things to say about Google Tag Manager. It makes my life as a digital marketer so easy because it limits the number of tracking tags that need installed on the backend of client sites. It limits the amount of edit time on the backend of a website, and limits the amount of communication needed with a client's web developer. It is also really easy to set up tracking within the platform, and GTM offers lots of tracking options.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

There isn't a lot about the GTM platform that I dont like. One thing that would be nice for GTM to include is a prebuilt tag for Facebook tracking. Right now you need to set up FB tracking as HTML in the platform. It's doable, but just a bit time consuming compared to setting up other tracking within the platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Use Google Tag Manager if you're dealing with multiple tracking tags for a client or your internal marketing, such as Google Analytics, FB Pixel, Google conversion tracking, etc. It will make your life and job so much easier to have a single "container" per client to drop all of your tracking codes in.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With GTM, I dont have to always add new tracking tags to the backend of a client website, which not only saves time, but helps with website speed since there arent lots of tags slowing the site speed. The platform also makes it really easy to track specific conversions that would otherwise be difficult to create if you're not experienced with coding.

  ### 29. One tool for all your analytics need

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arnav P. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google tag manager can give you all the data, reports and statistics regarding your website for analysis. It's great customization, from tracking an event trigger to firing pixels has always been a great way to determine and extract exactly the data which is needed.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It's a little complex for beginners, also you should have a basic javascript understanding to use this tool to it's full potential or else there will be many roadblocks headed your way.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Personally it was little complex to use and understand initially for me but once you get the hang of it, it's a great tool.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am handling all the SEO and data analytics related problems using GTM and it has given me a great flexibility to what I wanted to achieve for the website with my custom scripts

  ### 30. Great Google product to manage all marketing tags you might need to add to your website

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angel C. | Marketing Designer, Graphic Design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

One of the best features of Google Tag Manager (GTM) is the data layer which allows you to fire tags when certain non-standard events occur within your landing page or website. The data layer helps developers avoid having to hard-code tags like Facebook events in a site's Javascript files.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

One feature I found confusing when I first started using GTM was how workspaces worked. I thought it was pretty odd that all of your tag "seem" to disappear from the workspace when all the changes are published.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I previously mentioned, one of the main problems that GTM helps solve is not having to hard-code any tag into a landing page or web pages. Whenever I need to add a new marketing tag, I can do so without having to bother our developer who might be busy with other projects.

  ### 31. A good tool for streamlining tag installations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex G. | Digital Content Coordinator, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager is a great tool for adding all required website tags & codes in one place, making it easy to keep track of what is already installed on websites. It has a relatively intuitive dashboard, and has a lot of support for a variety of tags - not just Google products.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Sometimes it is easy to forget to hit 'Publish' when you have added a tag as the button isn't obvious enough, which means your tag remains uninstalled until you remember to publish it.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We began to install a lot more of different types of tags on our clients' websites, and Google Tag Manager has helped us to manage these more efficiently and effectively. The benefits include all team members having access to the platform, so we can all keep track of which tags have already been installed/need to be installed.

  ### 32. The service that helps me correct image errors immediately on the public website.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I can modify a container quickly and change some of its lines. It is live, so when I save the changes and launch the new version, I can test the new functionalities as the visitor sees them. This way, I avoid working locally and exposing the website code by saving each update on my hard drive. It is easy to create containers, and knowing who has access to them, including released versions and latest modifications, is like a code editor but more secure and in the cloud.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

In some occasions, it has not allowed me to release HTML or PHP code, for some reason I don't know. After trying multiple times, it already allows me to release the version.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I perform bug correction activities, I can easily locate them because I have the code segments divided into multiple containers. If I need to add a new container, I know exactly where it should be placed to maintain the order of page views, and I can do everything by simply accessing my Google Tag Manager account, without needing an FTP connection.

  ### 33. The tool that helps me modify the terms and conditions without the help of the programmer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Tagmanager is very intuitive for me, it's like sending a message, I simply modify the text that is within the entire code that I do not fully understand and ready, in a few seconds I can visualize on the network, as the labels are separated and with Access levels I can be sure that I will not get into other parts of the code that could damage the website, this definitely helps a person without programming experience like me.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

So far I have not had any problems like this platform, the tags I have modified have not presented any error. All perfect with Google Tag Manager.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I need to add or modify terms of the terms and conditions, rewards programs or promotions, I can always access the labels that help me modify that text, so I do not need the help of an expert programmer to help me, I can do it in a very easy way.

  ### 34. The Easiest Way To Setup Event Tracking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

The software basically provides a "backdoor" into your site's code, allowing you to easily setup custom event tracking for marketing campaign analytics.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I've had trouble with the tag being properly setup within the site and therefore did not receive the data properly. This could just be the result of human error though.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Watch a few tutorials on how to properly setup tags and triggers to ensure you are collecting data from the right events. Once you get the hang of it, It's a breeze adding more to your site. It even provides a debugging tool that will analyze your site in preview mode and find what the issues are with your tags/triggers

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GTM allows you to create your own window into the behavior of users on your site. Using it allows you to get a more in depth look at the user path to conversion and analyze where your strengths and weaknesses are within your site and advertising campaigns.

  ### 35. GTM is Fast, Lightweight, and Free Tool For Website Tracking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katie W. | Digital Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I love how intuitive the tool is and because it's so popular, if you ever have a question you'll be able to find an answer in the community. It is so easy to use and let's you place tags in minutes.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I only dislike how difficult it can be to create custom tags when customers dont use thank you pages, I wish it was easier to create those in the platform with limited coding knowledge.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Add all tags through here to ensure you're not affecting load times of the site!

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Need to place remarketing, conversion and analytics tags for marketing and this tool makes it easy to implement all ever changing tags depending on the vendor.

  ### 38. The google tool that allows me to add code on my already published website

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager has allowed me to add code to the company's website when it is already published, so I do not need to modify HTML files locally on my laptop and then upload it, it also has compatibility with most platforms that have measurement tools such as Facebook Ads, Google analytics, Hubspot, etc.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It has occurred to me that the hubspot compatibility appears in the main panel but when adding the code it marks an error, however, I have the possibility to add it through general html code, outside of that problem everything went well.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I need to add a tracking code or an update block to the website, I can always add it through the tag manager without having to access the complete website code. I can also control user access levels for the configuration and creation of new tags, so I am aware that each team member is responsible for their tags.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Tag manager allows me to clearly and quickly control all of the events on our sites. Keeping a clear structure to your events and tracking is key and GTM makes that simple

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I struggle to find flaws in GTM if I'm honest. Most of the time when I find something annoying it's because I'm not using it correctly.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Set out with a clear picture of what you want to track and how you want the data to be displayed. Because of how easy to use GTM is, the mistake is often made to just set up a bunch of events left right and centre without really measuring what matters

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We switched all of our tracking across from PowerBI and Snowplay to GTM/Data Studio/Analytics and it's been perfect. Saved on costs, but also have far more control

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

The Versions are a bit tricky to differentiate and some events do not work as expected.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

It is an easy platform that saves a lot of time and helps in effective tracking. Unfortunately, the Tag manager platform doesn't give personal assistance yet. But, there are numerous video tutorials available on youtube that can help with questions.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving a lot of time since to install a new tag I do not need to speak with the back-end manager. Easy of use is the biggest plus point.

Google Tag Manager gives us the ability to deploy tracking scripts and other minor marketing codes without reliance on our IT teams. This means less reliance on scheduled deployments and more speed to market.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Google does not provide a great organizational structure within the tool so it can get messy if you have a lot of tags and triggers and especially if you have multiple people working in the same container.

GTM is a free and powerful tag management solution. It could provide a few more organizational features, but it is great especially if you use other Google products like Analytics.
