"A free and powerful way to access all of your files from anywhere"

What do you like best?

Because Drive is a part of the Google ecosystem that means that it can be accessed in a variety of different ways. This includes both on your desktop by downloading the free Google Drive software, but also via the Drive app on your mobile device. Thanks to a new update you can send files that you have saved on your Drive via email through your Gmail account. Plus, because you can share documents with others (and closely control their access levels) it allows for great collaboration between users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The UI is clean and clear, but it's also a bit drab for my liking. Also, it would be useful if the icon for folders could include previews of the folder's contents as they have in Windows Explorer when in Windows. That way you can get a sneak peek of a folder's contents without having to enter it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The collaboration piece for me has been the most valuable tool that I've used with Google Drive to date. I can select a file, group of files, or an entire folder and choose who I want to share that data with. I can choose what level of access the person(s) should have, and then when I'm ready the system will send an email with a link to the user(s) I choose. In addition, if you use Google Docs you can not only share access to files, you can actually collaborate on them in real-time. That means that I've been able to have a spreadsheet that contains certain information but has other pieces missing. I can give access to another user and ask that individual to log in and complete the file. This is hugely useful if all of your users aren't on the same network or in the same building. "Not only does it not properly back-up files, but the customer service is nonexistant"

What do you like best?

The only function of Google Drive that was helpful at times was being able to email larger files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Does not properly back up files and photos, prompts you to delete photos from your phone stating that it has already had them backed up--which after you do, then they are not accessible so you have lost them forever. Then when contacting support they provide no solutions and no refunds for the price you've paid for 2TB of space to use none because they are not backing up files properly. Causes time, frustration and loss of data. Pricing is comparable to other services, but considering it does not complete advertised options, it is expensive and does not offer refunds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I hoped Google Drive in correlation with Google Photos would provide a security in the event that my icloud did not backup properly. However, it did not provide this. I also hoped it would serve as a cloud back-up for my PC, which it has also not successfully completed. The only thing it has facilitated with is emailing larger files.
