What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?

I like the flexibility in selecting cores and pricing. It is also very easy to you and configure, such as with Cloud IAM. I also like that Google Cloud provides the Linux command so that you can use this is Cloud Shell or Terraform, if necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?

The user interface could be improved somewhat but overall it is easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful, Flexible and Surprisingly Easy to use"
What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?

The most helpful thing about Google Compute Engine is that how flexible and reliable it is. It make me feel like I am in control. I cam spin up exactly the kind of virtual machine I need. I can get a VM up and running within minutes. Whether it is something small testing or a high performance machine for production. I use GCE regularly for staging, running backend services, and even for quick prototypes. From live migration to VM it helps in crazy cost saving. Whether it is connecting to cloud storage, using identity and access management or integrating with kubernetes, it all feels like it belongs in same ecosystem, it just works, I haven't had to reach out often, but when I did support was responsive and helpful. Getting started with GCE is so simple and straightforward, the UI is clean, the setup process is intuitive and implementation actually makes sense, whether it is my first VM or configuring firewall rules. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?

While I have mostly positive experience with GCE, there is one thing that could be improved.

Limited regional availability for some services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Google Compute Engine Simplified My Cloud Workflow – A Hands-On Review"
What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?

The flexibility to scale up/down without downtime is a game-changer. I run a data-heavy app, and spinning up custom VM instances during traffic spikes feels effortless. Plus, the integration with Google Cloud tools like BigQuery saves me hours of setup. The preemptible VMs are a lifesaver for batch jobs—cutting costs by 70% without sacrificing reliability. Only gripe? The initial learning curve for networking, but once it clicks, it’s smooth sailing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?

The networking setup can feel overly complicated at first—configuring firewalls, VPCs, and IPs had me Googling tutorials for days. Costs also sneak up if you forget to monitor usage, especially with non-preemptible instances. I once left a test VM running by accident and got a nasty billing surprise. Support feels slow unless you pay for premium tiers, and the console UI isn’t as intuitive as AWS for quick tasks. Oh, and preemptible VMs? Great for savings, but losing a spot instance mid-job still stings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable, scalable, and beginner-friendly cloud compute service"
What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?

Working at Krishna Tech Creation, I’ve used Google Compute Engine mainly for setting up development environments and running lightweight workloads. What I really like is how quick and smooth the setup process is. You can go from nothing to a running VM in just a few minutes. Whether you're new to cloud computing or have some experience, the interface makes it easy to get started. The performance has been stable in our use cases, and it's simple to scale up when needed. Another big plus is how easily it connects with other Google Cloud tools like Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Cloud Functions — that really streamlines our workflows and reduces the hassle of switching between services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?

One area I think could be improved is the pricing transparency. The cost structure can get confusing, especially if you’re trying to choose between options like preemptible instances, different machine types, or regional settings. You often have to do a bit of extra research to fully understand how your usage will affect billing. Also, while there’s plenty of documentation, I’ve noticed that some of the more advanced topics or features could use clearer examples or explanations, especially for people who aren’t full-time cloud engineers. Sometimes, the services becomes unresponsive but I do not get any information about the downtime, which causes a lot of trouble for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Surprisingly easy & hassle free VM set ups"
What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?

The intuitive UI did it for us, not to forget the easy onboarding, scalability, recommendations based on usage and quick AI/ML setups with readily available images Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?

The count of global data centres they have is currently lower than competitors such as Azure and AWS. Moreover, since GCS is relatively a new player, their presence in companies (and adoption) tends to be lower and adoption decisions are skeptical. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
