**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

I've used many services on AWS, the best thing about GCP is its UX. A cloud engineer who has experience in one domain can easily navigate through GCP! It has a really convenient monitoring system in place.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

The best thing about GCP is also its worst thing: GCE undergoes constant UI changes, which makes it difficult to navigate when it happens. I've also found the documentation to be somewhat lacking.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GCE Instances start-up ~80% faster than other instances. That's really important when it comes to scaling.

  ### 6. Google Compute Engine Easy to use virtual machine in Google Cloud

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

Google Compute Engine(GCE) is a IaaS provided by the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It enables users to provision virtual machines with custom memory, storage, cpu and computing power. The key advantages of using GCE would be the scalability, customization capabilities and integration with other GCP services. It will be easy to use and implement as already there are already customized configuartions available. This is the best choice if the organization is already running on GCP. It can be used to host websites, running servers or data processing. GCP provides customer support as the other cloud prviders.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

GCE could be of least use if already the organization is running in another cloud provider. The number of regions serviced by GCP is less as compared to AWS OR AZURE, which can be a downside to GCE. The documentation provided for GCE is less when compared with AWS Ec2 or Azure VMs.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scalability and less effort required to setup and maintain the server

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

Google Compute Engine has excellent developer documentation, and with the Google Cloud CLI, accessing instances becomes incredibly convenient. Furthermore, during VM creation, you have the option to deploy the container image directly to the VM, adding an extra layer of convenience to the process.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

As of now I don't find anyting to dislike about the Google Cloud Engine.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VMs provided by Google Cloud are more cost-effective for compute-optimized needs compared to those offered by other cloud providers. Additionally, when creating the VM, you're given the option to run automation scripts on restart or startup. This ensures that certain services are always running when the machine starts, saving me a lot of time.

**Reviewed by:** Pranav U. | Flutter Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

Google Compute Engine stands out from other solutions in the context that it helps the user deploy Virtual Machines easily and quickly with the help of pre-configured setups. Whether you want to deploy a simple web app, java application, or a complex project that involves load balancers, GCE makes it easier through these pre-configured settings. With the option to deploy through the Google Cloud Console or through API calls, it has never been easier to integrate and implement the solution to any platform. The documentation provided in the official website is rich in examples and explanations which makes it convinient to understand the deployment procedures.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

GCE offers a pay as you go service but I believe the pricing can be made more competitive. Also the User Interface is cluttered and can be improved to make it much easier for new users to navigate and find things. Maybe, adding an onboarding would be better option.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Google Firebase for BaaS. In order to deploy a Virtual Machine that already integrates easily with Firebase, GCE comes out as an epic solution. It streamlines the process of importing the existing project from Google Cloud Platform and automatically sets up the necessities based on the preferences I already selected in the Firebase. If I were to use other solutions like Amazon EC2 instance, I had to follow a longer route for setup making it a tedious task. Moreover, the examples provided in the documentation helped me quickly deploy the VM much faster and in a very secure manner.

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

Google Compute Engine as a whole is one of the easiest interfaces to walk new users through, telling them about network VPCs to attach services or VMs to, assuring appropriate user groups/permissions, and ensuring that any particular security setting is applied. The service itself is very helpful for a multitude of use cases, although I use the service for limited cases.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

There are a couple of downsides, some items are overtly complicated, although I'm unsure if this is deliberate. The level of depth for reaching the desired outcome in clicking or setting up scripting for automation would be a focus area I would appreciate additional focus for Google to look at and improve on.

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

Google Compute comes with a good pricing models and 10x less price as compare to other clouds, they will also provide more security but the features was less, I will use Compute engine with AWS also like EC2 and I will use GCP also like Virtual machine, AWS is more famaliar then GCP , Google compute engine was not so much reliable but it was cheaper 10x then AWS, In terms of Security also Google was not provide Administrator access in their machines, So that was a good feature in Google Cloud , Every Machine was communicate with Google services very seamless, with a development needed only. That was the best and easy feature which Google Implement.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

Customer Support was not so good, even not much technical knowledge, they communicate less and give answer in very longer duration, Sometimes we need to automate anything we need administrator access and that was a myth, we can't do automation with Google Machines it was very which i experience with Google Cloud compute machines, if you create the machines with terraform or if you type a enablement script in USER_DATA variable in GCP then only you will able to create the administrator password on BootTime, or else there is no way without going inside the machine you will able to create the password, Google also needs to improve the monitoring service because when we want to monitor Compute engines with Google Monitoring service also , it was just like static when Threshold value stop it was taking time to send an email, and gives a bad format of Email, In terms of AWS it was really far better.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Helps many business problems, but it comes with less reliablity in customer support & some services are really bad,
Business problems like, if you want to monitor any GCP instance or time-series database like RAM, CPU , Disk you will able to do that and check a free graphs on monitoring and configure alert when your Systems gives 90% above, Apart from this Google helps you to make website and use their DB and if that was a csv like they will able to transfer the file to the obejct storage also which was Google Drive, One of the very managed features which i like is Google Meet, when we launch Google Compute Engine any virtual machine and we deploy our company app, and company wants to integrate Google Meet for Enterprise , they will very limited and seamless integration with your website where if company wants user was able to share the screen and open the face-cam, and much more.

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

Google compute engine provide very good and powerfull code deployment services.
google compute engine is easy to scalable and powerfull machines i find that if my system require to get scaled then it give us option to scale the application automatically and the ease of Implementation is also good and the customer support was nice.I used it very frequently. Overall, Google Compute Engine offers a powerful and flexible platform for running your workloads in the cloud, with advantages in scalability, performance, flexibility, cost-effectiveness, security, integration, global reach, and access to managed services.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

I find the learning curve for google cloud is bit hard to learn and pricing structure is also complex if you want to do transfer your services from GCP to any other cloud service the n on that time ingress traffic to Google Cloud Platform services is typically free, egress traffic (data leaving GCP) may incur additional costs, especially for large-scale data transfers or data-intensive workloads.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Compute Engine i used for deploying the backend part of my application, and it solved my problem of scaling the my server to required level.

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

Okay ! i think i have no words to praise this Google Compute Engine Solution. This product provides you the multiple feature to enable your virtual machines on fingertip, it's very easy to implement and you can integrate this product with different solution. The best thing about this product is you dont need to pay collaborately or at a one time. You're offered to opt Pay as you go, which means you need to pay only for your requirement which you're using while creating virtual machine. Also you don't need to take care of VM security. Also you're already aware of google customer support which provides you the quicker than a bullet train.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

There's nothing specific or single stuff to dislike this google compute engine. I prefer this product because it reduces human interaction including deployment, unncessary failure of servers, disk hardening, storage allocations and many more. This product is itself a huge bundle of features.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google compute engine is solving not only my problem but many organisations including big, small and medium organisation's problem. This product provides many services along with it including infrastructure as a service, Cloud management platform, server virtualization and many more. You can manage your VM or any cloud functionalities on single pane of glass.

  ### 41. On par with AWS EC2

**Reviewed by:** Harshit J. | Senior Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Google Compute Engine?**

I think GCP Cloud Engine is really easy to
use, has an intuitive user interface, there's there's plenty of official and unofficial support available over the internet. It's a stable and matured platform.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

One main downside of using Google Compute Engine has nothing to do with the product, but it's demand in market. I think AWS still leads the market, and so as a mid-level engineer, I would rather spend time upskilling on AWS rather than spending time working on GCP to make sure my future job prospects are bright.

**What problems is Google Compute Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Google's Compute Engine primarily to host projects for my college when I was a student. I used GCP credits that are awarded to students, and it helped me test GCP along with allowing me to deploy my app for others to be able to access.

It is extremely easy to allocate and modify the CPU allocation, it offers various versions of boot disks, GPU's external Hard Drives, and amy possible modification one might need while allocating a VM, via the cloud console. The customer support is extremely helpful, they respond almost immedeately. You can integrate it with any technology like terraform or kubernet and use it to your satisfaction.

**What do you dislike about Google Compute Engine?**

Honestly, there is nothing to dislike in this except for unavalibility of certain zones at times of high traffic but that is not the highlighted issue as it is trivial for any cloud product.
