"Google Cloud Vision API plus Rocketbot equals results"
5/5
What do you like best about Google Cloud Vision API?

The OCR service from Google Cloud Vision API was a great help, it can process extensive documents or images and return with excellent reliability the extracted text data to work with; combined with an RPA platform like Rocketbot, this allows us to automate many processes that needed a person to read images or documents many times over Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud Vision API?

Perhaps at first the activation process of the account can seem time-consuming, especially since the Vision API has too many permission or options and for the first time user can even be overwhelming Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Google Vision Sync API review"
4/5
What do you like best about Google Cloud Vision API?

The reliability of the service is very good. We never had any downtime. The system is very good at extracting the text out of receipts and it does give you basic data points very accurately. Google keeps updating its OCR engine in the back end so over time you will keep getting better and better results. The cost of the API requests is very low so it's very good for large scale projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud Vision API?

The system fails when we look for retailers it does not give the correct result for retailer identification. If you want to use bigger size images then you have to upload images to Google Cloud first then you have to use their async API to get results. I do understand that for reliability Google Will prefer their internal storage rather than someone else but what if the company is already using AWS S3 and they want to use your async service? in that case, you will have to keep two copies of the same image one on Google cloud and one on AWS S3. "Track Down Images for Uploaded Videos"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Google Cloud Vision API?

It's ability to find out all the explicit contents from an image is very useful. It is also able to identify the violence or any dangerous weapon or act is being shown in any image or video, helps block that relevant graphic from entering into our severs and production feeds. This is one of the best tool to fight spam and violence over the web which gets viral pretty soon in today's modern digital era. Works in almost all devices like a PC, android, even in platforms like cars, stations, various IoT devices and can be integrated with a lot of digital devices today and in the coming future as well with the power of Google as it's core platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud Vision API?

Sometimes, it is not able to verify few explicit materials and violent graphics although it is improving day by day withe the help of more accurate algorithms and machine learning Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ideal for team that is working on building a product around OCR"
5/5
What do you like best about Google Cloud Vision API?

Pros: 1. The accuracy is way higher as compared to other professional OCR engines available in the market for the use case that I am tackling.

2. Response time is decent (though it depends on the sizes of the images uploaded to the service)

3. Easy to configure and setup

4. The pricing scheme is also very good, its pay per use

5. Does not require any image pre processing for most of the OCR use cases, just upload an unprocessed image. Most of the heavy weight lifting for OCR process is done by the service

6. Provides an excellent benchmark if you are planning to build your own OCR engine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud Vision API?

Cons: 1. Documentation could be improved

2. The logging from the library could be improved to better understand failure scenarios

3. It would be good have an offline service too, always requires a connection to the internet. (Unlike its counter part mobile vision)

4. Once or twice I have observed that their backend update to the service added some extra OCR characters to the response, which broke the logic I had previously built on. So, there is a need to constantly check the response being returned from the service

5. Some advanced configurations that could be useful are missing or not documented. For example, there is no font training available with the service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
