## Google Cloud SQL Reviews
  ### 1. CloudSQL is a great service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Artem N. | Chief Software Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

CloudSQL is easy to use managed SQL service. It is very convenient if you need traditional OLTP DB (PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL Server) and want to enjoy managed service.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

It is not really a dislike but rather a caution. While CloudSQL provides traditional OLTP DB as managed service, some of the features are removed/not-supported due to the need to run those DBMS in control sandbox. So, before migrating to CloudSQL your existing applications you need to check that all the features that you use are supported.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it as managed version of PostgreSQL and MySQL DB. We do not use SQL Server version of it (instead host SQL Server DBMSs due to the need to use SSRS, which is not supported by CloudSQL).

  ### 2. A reliable platform for all companies.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darshan J. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

It is easy to use, no need for high technical knowledge. It will easily manage by any user. Google Cloud SQL has great durability and security. Many small companies also get a good response.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

The first time it will look a bit difficult and confusing. One more thing is that aggregation needs more development. Google Cloud SQL's price is more than other applications.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

After using cloud SQL it makes me realise that whether the business is small or on large scale, it will help everyone. Its solution can be so helpful that will make your work done fast.

  ### 3. Experience with Google Cloud SQL - A Robust and Reliable Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishal W. | Azure Cloud Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Google Cloud SQL is an excellent cloud database solution that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and feature-rich service.

What I like best about it is its seamless setup process, user-friendly interface, and robust security features. The automatic backups and high availability capabilities are especially useful, as they give me peace of mind that my data is always secure and accessible.

Additionally, the performance of Google Cloud SQL has been consistently outstanding, and the ability to scale resources on demand has been invaluable for my business needs.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

While Google Cloud SQL has many great features, there are a few things that I think could be improved.

- One issue I've encountered is the cost, which can be quite high depending on the resources you need. Another thing I dislike is the limited customization options.
- I would like to see more flexibility in terms of customizing the database configuration and management. However, despite these limitations, I still think Google Cloud SQL is a solid choice for those looking for a cloud database solution with good performance and reliability.

Just be aware of the cost and limited customization options before making a decision."

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Cloud SQL has completely changed the game for me. With its automatic backups, high availability features, and ability to scale resources on demand, I no longer have to worry about data security or downtime. The user-friendly interface and robust security features make it easy for me to manage the database, even as my business continues to grow.

The performance has been consistently outstanding, especially considering the features and reliability I'm getting.

  ### 4. My experience using Google Cloud SQL

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mekuleyi P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

I like the fact that with Google Cloud SQL, we can store and manage our financial data in a secure and scalable way. We rely on the platform's robust security features, including SSL encryption, IP whitelisting, and data replication, to ensure that our data is protected from unauthorized access and downtime.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

I dislike the user interface, it makes it difficult and challenging to setup a database and to view and understand the analytics that is displayed on the analytics dashboard. I think the dashboard can be better and more intuitive

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The scalability of Google Cloud SQL has been essential for our business needs. As we continue to grow and collect more data, we can easily add more storage and processing power without having to worry about server capacity or downtime

  ### 7. For managed postgres really it works like a charm and the underlying infrastructure is top notch

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicolas E. | Lead Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Can be configured using the UI, Config Connector or the CLI. Easy to provision, disk space is automatically increased when needed (pay per use), Very performant SSDs, point in time snapshot recovery for 7 days due to WAL retention

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

When creating multiple databases on the same Cloud SQL instance (it is that performant) unfortunately backups will only operate on the entire instance and not individual databases. Also the postgres password cannot be set up using Config Connector (Need to go to UI). Also IAM authentication is basically useless since it requires roles for it to be able to do anything.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Have a reliable database which we don't need to operate and maintain is great. Also we are using the migration service using pglogical which keeps an asychronous replica for our on prem databases.

  ### 8. Reviewing Google Cloud SQL

It is an open and flexible technology. It is best at keeping data secure and safe using Google's own technology and expertise. Probably Google Cloud is the only company thoughtful about the planet and has sustainable practices.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

One thing that can be improved is the pricing. I feel the cost is towards the higher end and would be expensive for small businesses. Only large businesses/companies would be able to afford this.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Cloud SQL is providing various solutions to manage relational databases. Since it is cloud-based, it helps us store and manage data in much more easy ways. This is helping the business to improve scalability, reliability, and improved security. This builds a solid trust with the company.

  ### 16. Google Cloud SQL - Managed Database service with backups and HA

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason Q. | Global Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Meets most needs as a relational database and easy to schedule backups, restores and high availability. Able to increase storage size if needs grow to accommodate data growth without a restart.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

Unable to run clustered multi-regional databases with tools such as pgbouncer for connection pooling natively. This creates dependencies on a region. HA is also zonal, which means if a zone fails, it will failover to another zone within the same region. This may not be enough for some of the higher availability requirements.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Classical applications with require a LAMP stack, such as CMS, can use Cloud SQL out of the box. This shortens our deployment time and saves man hours. The standardized backup and restore also gives us a baseline for those day-2 operations.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anuja G. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Google Cloud for SQL is a fully-managed service, hence as users don't have to worry about managing the underlying infrastructure. Additionally, it is compatible with both MySQL and PostgreSQL, which allows us to easily migrate their existing databases to the cloud. The service also provides automatic backups and automatic replication for high availability, which helps to ensure that data is always safe and accessible.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

There are a limited customization options avaiable with Google Cloud SQL. It provides a set of predefined configurations, which can be limiting for users who want more control over their database environment.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the main problem that google cloud solves is with respect to management of the databses. Google Cloud SQL provides a user-friendly web interface and command-line tools for managing the databases, making it easy for us to create, configure, and manage the databases.

  ### 22. Cost-effective alternative to dedicated database administration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarthak R. | NLP Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Cloud SQL makes up for a very easily maintainable database as a service solution. It's much faster than setting up a DBMS on a local server and takes away the hassle of backups, maintenance, etc.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

For starter applications the pricing tiers are not as flexible as we would have liked. It only makes sense to use GCloud SQL as an enterprise application once your data has scaled to require an enterprise level DB management solution.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GCloud SQL eliminates the need for having people dedicatedly responsible for database security, backups, maintainance, etc. which would have come at a considerable cost if setting up a DB server locally. We used PostgreSQL to maintain inventory and userbase data, and a very small team of developers was able to easily set up and maintain the database.

  ### 23. You don't need a Database administrator until you do

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee V. | Head of DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Coming from AWS RDS it's feature parity is matched, it also felt newer/faster (provisioning wise).
The fact you don't need to worry about replication, availability and point in time recovery.
Before you would need people with specialised DB knowledge (in operations) but now you just need to know how to interact with the database.
However, this does not mean you will be able to have performing databse schema where your application will run smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

Not all database vendor's can be found here, yet this is also good sometimes developers want the latest DB's that are not yet proven or where there would be no more support after an amount of time.
Newer versions are not always available, but it's catching up.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were running on AWS already with a setup that required a VM & a Managed DB (RDS). Having the option in GCP was great and required us to do a minimal amount of setup to get us going.

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

It was incredibly easy to get started with Google Cloud SQL, and yet it is still packed with powerful features. I didn't have to wait for any other admins or operations staff to set up a SQL instance for me, which was fantastic. The service worked exactly as expected, and I was able to obtain the appropriate amount of compute power for my needs thanks to the cloud-based nature of the platform.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

I have been using Google Cloud for the past two years and have not encountered any problems. Overall, I have no complaints about the platform. Google Cloud offers a wide range of services for software development, making it a comprehensive solution for any project.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vibhash K. | OpenShift Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

This is the google managed relational database management sytem where we need not to manage the database all we need to focus on using its feature as it is cloud based so even no headache of managing on local server.
We have very easily migrated from our local DB server to Google one and it's very easy to scale in and out.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

There is nothing like disadvantages only one thing i feel is it's recovery mechanism and partitioning.
There is some issue in SSL certificate as most certificates are self-signed and it doesn't support most services

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it on enterprise level to fullfill our project tasks requirements.Earlier we are using local DB server where we were facing issue regarding scalability but now we need not to manage it all we need to use it as per requirement.
We use it for our SAAS services and it provides high availability.

**Reviewed by:** Johns C. | Principal Technical Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Scalability and High availability are the two main things why I like Google Cloud SQL. Google Cloud SQL allows us to easily scale the databases up or down as needed, making it a great option for applications with varying usage patterns. Also Google Cloud SQL provides high availability by replicating data across multiple zones, so even if one zone goes down, the service remains available.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

One of the main demerits of google cloud SQL is cost. Google Cloud SQLis more expensive than some other database services, especially for high-traffic or high-data volume applications.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Cloud SQL scale databses up or down and thus it prevent performance issues and ensure that the service remains available even during periods of high demand. This helps uus a lot for our three tier application structure.

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

The robust infrastructure that Google provided for the relational databases with Cloud SQL is simply best. In my current work, we need to work on databases that could be as large as TerraBytes in size, which causes scalability issues. However, Google's Cloud SQL has been a go-to solution for us to handle databases at this scale.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

I don't find anything to dislike about Cloud SQL. The only thing that I feel could be improved is its documentation, which sometimes can be hard to understand for the first time users.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As previously mentioned, the relational DB that we work with in my current organisation is of huge size and, at the same time, consists of sensitive information. Thus, our main concern while using any cloud platform solution was its security. And Google Cloud SQL has solved our problem very effectively. Its security can be trusted and is available in multiple regions.

Furthermore, users can be confident that their data is secure with automatic and, more importantly, continuous backups and multiple layers of security.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

Google Cloud SQL offers scalability benefits, but its pricing structure can be confusing for those unfamiliar with Google pricing. This lack of transparency can potentially result in additional, unexpected fees.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Cloud SQL makes managing databases easier and more cost-effective for businesses and individuals. Its automated backups and security features ensure that my data is always secure, while its scalability allows databases to be easily expanded or contracted in size to accommodate changing needs. With its affordability and convenience, I use Google Cloud SQL on a daily basis.
