**What do you like best about Managed Microsoft AD?**

Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory offers a fully managed solution, handling installation, configuration, patching, and monitoring. It seamlessly integrates with other Google Cloud services, allowing you to leverage Active Directory identities and authentication across cloud-based applications. The service prioritizes security and compliance, providing secure communication channels, data protection, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA. It ensures high availability and scalability, even under heavy loads or hardware failures. You can sync directories with on-premises Active Directory and establish trusts with other forests. Additionally, it enables running Active Directory-dependent applications in the cloud, simplifying deployment and reducing infrastructure costs.

**What do you dislike about Managed Microsoft AD?**

While Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory offers several advantages, it's important to consider potential disadvantages as well. One potential drawback is the reliance on a third-party provider for managing your Active Directory infrastructure. This means that you may have limited control over certain aspects of the service, such as customization options or specific configurations that are outside the scope of the managed service. Additionally, depending on your specific requirements, the pricing for the managed service may be higher compared to managing your own Active Directory infrastructure. It's important to carefully evaluate your organization's needs and consider the trade-offs before deciding to use a managed service for Microsoft Active Directory.

**What problems is Managed Microsoft AD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory solves problems associated with managing Active Directory, providing benefits like reduced administrative overhead, improved security and compliance, seamless integration with Google Cloud services, high availability and scalability, simplified hybrid environment management, and cost savings with simplified application deployment. It offers a secure, scalable, and fully managed solution that simplifies administration, enhances security, integrates with other services, and supports hybrid environments.

  ### 2. Seamless Integration and Reliable Management with Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krishan M. | Senior Associate Consultant | SAP BASIS & HANA |, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Managed Microsoft AD?**

One of the standout features of this service is the effortless integration process. Setting up the Microsoft Active Directory environment within the Google Cloud Platform was a breeze. The well-documented guides and intuitive interface made the configuration smooth and hassle-free. Within a short span of time, our organization's Active Directory was up and running, seamlessly integrated with the Google Cloud infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Managed Microsoft AD?**

The one drawback I noticed was the limited flexibility in customization options. While the service provides a solid foundation for managing Microsoft Active Directory within the Google Cloud platform, I found that certain customization options were restricted or not easily configurable. This limitation might be a concern for organizations with specific requirements or complex Active Directory configurations that require more flexibility.

**What problems is Managed Microsoft AD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the key problems this service has addressed is the need for streamlined administration. Previously, managing our Microsoft Active Directory involved complex on-premises infrastructure, including server maintenance, backups, and periodic updates. It was time-consuming and required a dedicated team of IT professionals. However, with Google Cloud's managed service, the burden of infrastructure management has been lifted. The service takes care of the underlying infrastructure, allowing me to focus more on efficiently managing user accounts, security policies, and group memberships. This shift has not only saved valuable time but also increased our overall productivity.

**What do you like best about Managed Microsoft AD?**

I like that it is easy to use Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory. It allows admins to have control over Google accounts without having to create accounts outside of active directory.

**What do you dislike about Managed Microsoft AD?**

There does seem to be a small issue when updating the service sometimes cause sync errors. It is quite avoidable for the most part by following the correct procedure but can be a pain when the procedure is not followed.

**What problems is Managed Microsoft AD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This product saves time by syncing accounts accross Google and Active Directory preventing the monotony of have to create accounts in more than one location as well as preventing the errors that come with haveing to create duplicant accounts.

It is a fully managed, cloud-based AD service that seamlessly integrates with your existing on-premises AD environment. We use Microsoft Active Directory for manage users in our RDS servers.

**What do you dislike about Managed Microsoft AD?**

It is pretty complex to understand, not user-friendly and for beginners, it'll take some time to understand. Despite these, this is the ideal tool for managing users' permissions.

**What problems is Managed Microsoft AD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory help us to manage users' permissions in our RDS server architecture. We can quickly provide permissions with the help of Active Directory

  ### 5. Efficient Active Directory Management with Google Cloud Managed Service

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tapas c. | WordPress Expert, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Managed Microsoft AD?**

Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory is well-regarded by users for its scalability, reliability, and ease of use. The service provides a centralized platform for managing Active Directory domains, enabling organizations to simplify and automate common tasks such as user provisioning, password management, and security auditing. Additionally, the service is fully managed by Google Cloud, freeing up IT resources to focus on other projects and initiatives.

**What do you dislike about Managed Microsoft AD?**

Not much to dislike, however some of the things I can mention such as limited customization options, a steep learning curve for some features, and higher costs compared to other options. However, it's important to note that these issues may not apply to all users and may depend on an organization's specific needs and requirements. Before deciding, it is recommended to carefully evaluate the features and benefits of Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory against other options to determine if it is the right fit for your organization.

**What problems is Managed Microsoft AD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The complexity of managing Active Directory domains: Active Directory can be a complex and time-consuming system to manage, especially for organizations with multiple domains or a large number of users.

High IT resource requirements: Active Directory management can consume a significant amount of IT resources, making it difficult for organizations to allocate resources to other initiatives.

Scalability and reliability issues: As organizations grow, the need to scale Active Directory domains can become a challenge. Additionally, the reliability of Active Directory domains can be affected by hardware failures, network outages, and other factors.

  ### 6. Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antoinette P. | Firm Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Managed Microsoft AD?**

I like best the flexibility Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft AD provides you in that you can connect Managed Service for Microsoft AD to an existing on-premises domain or run it as a standalone domain. Since MS AD is a a fully managed Active Directory software as a service on the Google Cloud Platform, it reduces the administrative overhead of running the service myself.

**What do you dislike about Managed Microsoft AD?**

Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft AD has room for improvement with its monitoring and alerts. You don't have much control over the configuration of the alerts since you have to use the default alerts. Also, it only provides alerts for certain activities, and those alerts can't be customized. The monitoring is not very helpful either.

**What problems is Managed Microsoft AD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft AD solves the problem of infrastructure management since it's a cloud-based SaaS as opposed to Active Directory, which you must download and install on your Windows VM or Windows Server and manage. That requires considerably more technical expertise than using the Google Cloud Managed Service for Microsoft AD. It's easy to set up and I don't need to do provision anything on my own. As a SaaS, Google manages all the infrastructure for me.
