We use the service to transfer data from Bigquery which aggregates the Google Analytics data, to AWS S3, the data store layer for our enterprise data platform. Bigquery is easy to set up and connect to data sources using Fivetran. Exploring data is intuitive, queries (SQL-like) are easy to learn and familiar. If data sources (from DBT, for example) update, there is no option to reload data in Bigquery without refreshing the whole page, which is heavy and takes a moment to load. Working in a schema with 18 tables, I quickly have a ton of tabs open, and the interface is not super for navigating so many tabs at the same time, at least not on a laptop screen. Recommendations to others considering Google BigQuery Data Transfer Service: If you are coming from a traditional SQL database mindset, understand that BigQuery is NOT a standard database and may include "features" that you have to workaround. For example, if you have a table and a column in that table with the same name, then when importing to BigQuery it will nest the whole table instead of just importing that column in your results. Data is imported and transformed along the way, so we are also using BigQuery to check and test those transforms. when satisfied, we move Data from BigQuery into a PostGRES database using Node.js and an SDK from NPM. The response is very fast and all the scalability problems is handled by google itself I do not need to setup caching mechanism and all the clusters to solve scalability problem, we currently have ~10 million rows and still gets the result within 5 sec. Currently, I'm using Google big Query Data Transfer service to transferring raw table data to Google Cloud and I found data transfer service very reliable and easy.
