## Google Authenticator Reviews
  ### 1. Useful for Password Recovery, But Needs Simpler Authentication

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony V.

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

I like using Google Authenticator because when I forget my password, it is the app that helps me get back into my accounts. It is incredibly useful for ensuring I can regain access to vital applications like my Gmail and other apps that require a password, even if I happen to forget them. I find it valuable because it provides an additional layer of security and convenience, allowing me to stay connected to my essential tools seamlessly. Specifically, I appreciate how Google Authenticator sends a code to my phone number when I need to reset my password, making the recovery process straightforward. The initial setup was pretty easy, which I really appreciate, as it doesn't complicate the process of enhancing security across my accounts.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

I dislike the requirement for two-factor authentication as it feels a bit cumbersome. I would prefer if there was an option for single-factor authentication to make the process simpler.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Google Authenticator to regain access to accounts when I forget my password, which is crucial for accessing my Gmail, Google, and other accounts.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brady P. | Marketing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

Does what it is supposed to and I haven't had any problems with it yet. It was the only option available

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

I find the UX unattractive and far prefer a different option. It's not the fairest review as I can't put my finger on why I don't like it, just that I don't.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps me keep my websites and financial services safe by adding a layer of protection. Also, since often times texts for 2FA don't make it, this allows me to simply open the app and I can use the code without having to wait for an email or sms that may never come.

It truly does allow you to keep your accounts and information private and secure. you can use it on your mobile devices as well as a computer, and it is generally easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

If you do not have internet, it just won't send the code that you need to log in, and if you forget your password or change your number, it won't let you back in

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

Google authenticator has all the features authenticator have to have, so it does the job as can quickly scan to add an account. So it is good at what it does.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

One thing I dislike about Google Authenticator is there is only one way to import the data, which is using the new phone to scan QR codes on the old phone. But what if you want to do a fresh installation on the same phone. You have no option but to loss your data. There is no way to backup your data when you only have one phone.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Authenticator:**

Google Authenticator is simple and easy to use, which comes with the cost of losing some essential features like backup and restore suppose you misplace your phone.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Google authenticator to enable two-way authentication, which is far quicker and easier than SMS.

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

its easy to use, connected to my Google account and allowed me to use a 2FA tool quickly and easy.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

At the time of use, it was tough to migrate between devices. this was the nail in the coffin to move away from the authenticator to an alternative platform.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

2fa keys for multiple sites, it was easy to use out of the gate as its part of the google suite.

  ### 8. A mainstream authenticator with lack of features

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafael P. | Membro, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

What I like the most about Google Authenticator is its layout. It is a well-known and perhaps the most-used authenticator app in the market.
I like how I can enable the dark mode and track the 30-second timer for the single-use codes/tokens to expire.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

What I like the least about this software is how hard it is to sync all my tokens across multiple devices, since there is the need to firstly export all my accounts from the older device and then import them to the new one, which is not very practical and intuitive.
For this reason, I don't use this authenticator very often.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Authenticator:**

Be in mind that it is not very practical to sync your accounts across multiple devices.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving problems like logging in to my account using 2FA tokens/codes.

  ### 9. Not the best authenticator app, but pretty good!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Faisal A. | TOP RATED Lead Generation Expert, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

It just works! Super easy to use. Doesn't even ask to open an account and all.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

If you broke or lost your phone, you are in trouble. Almost no backup!

**Recommendations to others considering Google Authenticator:**

Surely you can go for it.
There are options like Microsoft Authenticator of course, but if you are a Google fan, go for it! Just maybe try to have backup before you broke your phone.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not needing to get SMS all the time. Also, I can use it on my TAB, or a phone which always sits home, so, no chance to lose it but keeping all my accounts secure. What else to expect!

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

Once the app is downloaded and set up it's easy and fast to use the token code to log into email or other secure accounts. The token code is valid for 60 seconds, then a new one will populate after that. The ease of use is nice.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

Nothing. The app was easy to set up and easy to use

**Recommendations to others considering Google Authenticator:**

Google Authenticator is an easy way for employees to use a 2-step verification process for logging into secure accounts and emails from home computers and phones. Once the account is set up the user will not need to do anything else besides opening the app and entering the token code. Super simple way to keep things secure.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My work account contains very sensitive patient information, so logging in anyway besides work where the network is not as secure can be dangerous. By implementing Google Authenticator I am able to log into my work accounts and emails at home to continue working on projects or keeping up with emails all while knowing my important information is safe.

  ### 12. Nearly perfect- one fatal flaw

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gina B. | Paramedic Student, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

I was very confused the first time I was introduced to the authenticator. However once I was orientated on how to use it which is extremely simple it turned into and necessary day-to-day requirements for using the Internet. It is supposed to be safer than other forms of two factor of indication however I have never experience my two factor being hacked so I can’t say much about that. It is extremely simple to use and is widely distributed with other websites and applications With a much lesser chance of somebody stealing your password and getting in because Google is educator when you activate it on your cell phone it is Nick only to that particular cell phone. It cannot be downloaded and then transferred to another phone therefore you have no control over your security.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

I had an unfortunate experience where my phone died and it had not been backed up before the Google authenticator was activate it. I was active in a particular website at the time and they were very stringent on security measures. Without my Google authenticator backed up and restore it on my phone, which I didn’t realize as possible until later, I was completely locked out of the site and it was a heyday in order for them to Allow me back on the website. Despite all of my personal information being provided and ID and even a live video, they were not convinced that I was not someone else trying to steal my accounts. It was explained to me and very complicated terms but apparently once you link google offensive heater to an application or site do you Santa caterer is in charge not you and it cut blows my mind. It really was a big pain in the ass that I couldn’t just reset and continue on but it was a good lesson in learning about Internet security.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Authenticator:**

I would strongly encourage Google to implement are very user-friendly very obvious immediate at the start up a system of backing up all the data in a Vance heater as well as recovering it. This needs to be quick and easy and use the method that people will not forget for example a complicated password it doesn’t have any meaning it will not be successful Because I know that I only remember passwords if I have made them up and they mean something. It would also be beneficial to be able to back the start up in not only Google drive but other cloud storage is as well for extra security. I really hope that is on the way.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am still wary about using Google of indicator do you see my previous experience. I’ve been told by the Internet that when you initially set it up there is a recovery code in case your daughter gets lost however I did not find this at all and there was no prompt asking me if I wanted to back up therefore I’m sure my current information that’s in the oven together would be completely lost if my phone was compromised. Therefore I will be locked out of however many sites. One site that I will never get back into is a Facebook page and despite my numerous emails and please and documentation to Facebook they refused to allow me access without my eyes indicator code. I explained over and over that my phone is cover my ass and everything was lost and it was out of my control and they sort of talked like I was just lying and trying to break into the site. And if you would think that account you are a wonder who wanted one for even be friends with this person let alone break in but I think they care more about the security seizure sometimes and the actual clients. I am still very hesitant to use it educator unless it is mandatory and where is that I have to really want to use that account on the site. I’m sure many people have had no problems with Google if educator but I have explored other authenticators and you prefer them when Google is not required. Google set the standard for a very effective security measure and I think every version should ask for multiple meant to hit it off and decide which one they like the best based on their Internet usage. Because it would be a nightmare to be locked out of your most important site whatever that maybe and then told you can never go back in and what would you do so there are things to think about with this app And the consequences because there’s a lot of data out there online and the simple Google authenticator app which you may or may not be able to recover holds the key so How risky are you feeling today?

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony F. | Ejecutivo de cuentas, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

I started using this software on the recommendation of friends and people close to me who advised me to protect my online security with a two-step verification code and for this Google Authenticator was the best decision. For me it was clear the improvement in my online security to ensure that not having the unique code that was generated on my phone was impossible to access.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

Precisely this was what became a problem for me. For reasons that I know my phone decided to restart factory. What happened? I lost all the information I had associated with my Google Authenticator application. That is, I had to go one by one to each web page or service where I had a two-step verification code, just because the security was so high that there was no way humanly possible to recover accounts linked to the application! I spent quite a few days unhappy with the service and decided not to continue using it.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Authenticator:**

Again, I think it is a very good software but if they do not come up with a way to recover the linkages of the accounts with some additional security measure, I honestly do not recommend it.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to temporarily solve the need to increase the security levels in some of the services to which I am subscribed. However, this stopped being important when that increase in security levels became a problem.

  ### 17. Simple application. This application takes the simplicity approach.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Google Authenticator?**

The straightforwardness of the pundit additionally the capacity to include relate degree numerous extend of accounts thereto is likely the clarification why most individuals select the Google pundit over the different others reachable for exchange. The UI is clean additionally the learning bend is non-existent.

**What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?**

Being a Google item there could've been significantly more highlights that can be included. In any event for Google item login, the authenticator could have a couple of reconciliations. Yet, figure that would detract from the USP of the application which is effortlessness. There could be significantly more help included for different stages. A Windows application is one such case.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Authenticator:**

Google Authenticator could be a exceptionally steady Google Application for executing Two Figure Verification (2FA) for your Google account or other 2FA empowered administrations. You may have to be permit the app to get to your device's camera in arrange for it to examined the QR or bar coded key codes created by other apps. Authenticator too incorporates a "dim" subject which is critical to individuals that require the next differentiate see on portable gadget (so I don't require my glasses as regularly.) It also can produce confirmation codes whereas the gadget is offline without a information association which makes a difference after you are working in a customer's building where there's no cell information association I just like the reality it permits you to keep in mind the confirmation on your possess computer so it does not inquire for 2FA each time. There's a little realistic that tallies down to appear when the code is almost to alter, that makes a difference but I wish it were marginally bigger.

**What problems is Google Authenticator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It permits for a consistent two step security verification without having representatives re-enter their emails to click a connect. Instep, they basically have a committed app with an ultra secure, turning set of 6 digits keys.
