"Smooth and reliable"
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

I am using language(s) that I am familiar with. Development environment as well - Eclipse. Deployment is straightforward. Decent documentation is available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

I dislike when platform changes. Upgrading to java7 costed me changing and re-deploying applications that were already working stable for years. The same goes when you dropped support for previous persistence libraries and switched to Objectify. I had to modify otherwise fully operable apps that were tested previously and that run for years without problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Managed Platform Service"
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

App Engine is a Managed Platform as a Service which supports Java, Python, PHP, Go & Node.js.

Deployment in App Engine is straight forward, just need to define App.yaml, run gcloud app deploy command & code is uploaded, infrastructure is ready & service is up and running. Setup of App Engine is very easy & provides lots of option to specify machine configuration. Cron Job feature is also very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

It might take sometime to understand App Engine service for other cloud users. Deployment process take comparatively more time in Google App Engine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Google App engine is a true modern day marvel!"
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

It is a very low cost and yet efficient tool for web page deployment. Has incredible scaling capabilities too! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

Support functions are sometimes hard to get by, although it's not often that we reach out with support questions. Sometimes deprecations are hard to keep of track as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Serverless at your service"
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

Requirement are really minimal. All server operation are automagically made by Google, you deploy your code/app and Google do all the rest! Balancing, serving, increase and decrease resources, security... one yaml config file is all you need! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

Easy means that personalization is minimal, and probably you pay something more for this. If you leave that is someone else that configure all of the server operation is obvius that is a service that you have to pay. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The one stop application for all my needs"
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

Google app engine helps solving all my professional and personal needs. It has helped me gain insightful knowledge about finance and also helped me clear CFA Level 1 also. I have also started my journey to become an Enrolled Agent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

I have no issues with the app but this should be updated with technological changes. It hangs up sometimes and then it doesn't open for sometime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Run and scale your code painlessly. The best PaaS out there."
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

Google app engine allows you to focus on writing on your code without having to worry about all the underlying infrastructure. This allows for a "code first" mentality. Developers can focus on building applications without having to worry about things like dependencies. App Engine seamlessly connects to other Google services such as data store and cloud SQL. Best of all, app engine can scale as required and can even scale to zero in order to avoid incurring charges. If you want more control over infrastructure, you can switch to app Engine flex and modify the underlying infrastructure as required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

Google app Engine standard requires your code to be written in very specific languages. This feels a bit restrictive and if code would like to be written in any other language, the upgrade to app Engine flex can be a bit steep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"review of the google app engine"
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

Google App Engine is a good option for developers wanting to focus on coding their applications while not worrying about system administration. Quickly build and deploy applications using many of the popular languages like Java, PHP, Node.js, Python,c++, .Net Ruby, and Go or bring your own language runtimes and frameworks if you choose. Get started quickly with zero configuration deployments in App Engine. Manage resources from the command line, debug source code in production and run API backends easily using industry-leading tools such as Cloud SDK, Cloud Source Repositories, IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio, and PowerShell. Choose to run your applications in a serverless environment without the worry of over or under-provisioning. App Engine automatically scales depending on your application traffic and consumes resources only when your code is running. You will only need to pay for the resources you consume. What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

GAE is yet not stable enough. Even Google says that GAE is the same infrastructure of Google self-internal project. And the budget would increase much when your website becomes bulky. Without a native file system read/write access, it is hard to process some data transform with the existing library, and it doesn’t support some native file system base library as well.

It does not provide full-text search API. Also, the SDK/Java is unfavorable with Maven. It is unsatisfactory to accomplish lots of external libraries. The SDK/Java depth rest on IDE, and the default project directory structure is some difference with normal web app.

It is not easy to process unit test. It cannot fix the root cause and does not support add SSL to the web site. The GAE may be the development for future web application, but it is not equipped for building a modern web site now. It suffers from the inability to tweak server software. The Filesystem and many standard library modules are inaccessible. Only Python and a few runs of Java Virtual machine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great experience"
What do you like best about Google App Engine?

Best thing about Google App Engine is the cost attached to it which is a little less as compared to other stuffs available in the market, rest I'm not saying it's easily affordable to every big or small organisation, but can be considered as a good option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google App Engine?

Cloud machines are most of the times cumbersome to check for bugs or some deployment related issues which occurs time and again.

Good software and system knowledge is required to resolve errors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
