The product looks great aesthetically, however its a bit deceiving as it is fairly complex and somewhat difficult to actually use. For example if you start a background check you'll be asked if you want to use your standard template, but this template has an 'edit' choice, but if you click edit you can't actually edit your standard template and I can't find a way to edit it. It only edits the current background check, but the options already on the screen prior to clicking edit accomplish that same thing. Similarly if you click 'contact support' when logged in, it goes to a generic screen where you are contacting support as if you were not logged into the product. The deal breaker for me is it will not notify you via email if there is a background check that has not cleared. This is a significant issue if there is a background check that has not cleared, it's important a notification is fired so that HR staff go look at it. In terms of County searches you can select three counties but you have to manually choose them, I with the product could figure out what counties someone lived in and feed that into the county lookup automatically. Like so many products it needs that last 10%. All this being said, most software is terrible, and this product may very well be better than most of its competitors, that would not surprise me. It needs some major improvements to have non-technical folk use it, but it still may be one of the best given the low bar of business / enterprise software usability. I like the ability to create tailored background checks for each employment type and role (cost effective). I also love the fabulous dashboard that gives me an easy snapshot of what background checks are in process, which background checks are ready for review, and then which are cleared and good to go. This may just be the nature of third party background checks, but Goodhire flags the tiniest little thing without taking context into account. Like Feb 23, 2016 would be flagged if they verify the date as February 23, 2016. Like most background checking vendors, they are trying to meet the basic needs of everyone so reporting and any kind of customizations still have a ways to go.
