From the initial consultation with the rep named Luke McGrath, we felt supported. He asked us all the questions that we needed in order to make a firm decision. We have not found anything to dislike yet, but we have only used the software for a short time, so we may have to check back about that once we are using all the tools within the software. It is so hard to use that we spend literally weeks if not months, annually trying to navigate the software. What do you dislike about Good Grants? I find the interface really confusing. I think setting up grant and reviewing rounds could be drastically simplified. The price, especially for charities like ours, is really high too. Perhaps the pricing structure could reflect use. For example, we do one grant round a year. We receive around 300 applications and award 80 grants. This all takes place over a 3 month period. The other 9 months of the year, the programme goes unused for us. It keeps grant submissions structured rather than spread across emails, folders and spreadsheets. It gives a clear workflow for applications, assessment, scoring and approvals. It reduces admin friction because applicants, assessors and administrators can all work in one system. It supports defensible assessment by keeping criteria, scoring and reviewer comments together. It makes grant rounds easier to track because you can see status, progress and outstanding actions. Rigid — good for structure, but sometimes annoying when you just want to quickly handle an exception or unusual application. Tracking where everything is up to It helps you see which applications are submitted, incomplete, under review, approved, rejected or still needing action. Managing assessors and reviews Reviewers can score against criteria in one place, instead of sending comments back through email or separate documents. Reducing manual admin It cuts down on chasing documents, organising files, copying data between spreadsheets, and coordinating review rounds manually. Making decisions more transparent Scores, comments, criteria and decisions are recorded, which makes the process easier to explain and audit. Keeping the process fair and consistent Applicants are assessed against the same criteria, which reduces the risk of inconsistent or ad hoc decision-making. I really appreciate the video responses as I’m a visual learner and that method is so much better than written support. What do you dislike about Good Grants? To be honest I don't believe there are any downsides when compared to our previous grant application and review process. Before implementing Good Grants in our organisation eligible applications were processed manually which involved printing it out, recording it in a massive spreadsheet and emailing every application to the reviewers on our committee. The review and decision making process was very manual and time consuming and the reviewers who could spent up to 8 hours in a meeting reviewing reams of paper applications to decide on the successful candidates. I find Good Grants very easy to use. The submission process for grant applications is straightforward because it has a structured form, making it easy to move through. Reviewing applications based on required criteria and submitting scores is also simple. The software allows me to save my work at any point, return to it, and complete tasks efficiently, which saves me time compared to the longer process it usually takes. I often struggle navigating the menus to find the screen that shows the total scores.
