As the title of the review suggests, it is a star in ascension, but not ready for prime time yet. Particularly when it comes to features to accommodate users ranging from hobbyists to enterprise-level solutions. Prior to Golioth, most of my experience had been with Linux-based Device Management platforms, which had a clear gap when it comes to managing IoT devices with traditional embedded designs. I think some of the pricing can be restructured to make Golioth platform more competitive and suitable for small and medium-size deployments.

Also, Golioth currently only supports Zephyr and Arduino SDK or RTOS while there are so many other mainstream SDKs that real IoT developers use for production such as TI-RTOS, ContikiNG, FreeRTOS, MBEDOS etc for which Golioth does not have any support.

In addition, Zephyr has a bit of a learning curve, so for new developers, this might not be the first preference and also setting up Zephyr can be tricky at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Golioth takes care of all the "hard" stuff needed to build and manage a fleet of IoT devices, without locking you into a specific hardware platform. It's tightly integrated with Zephyr RTOS which includes support for a wide variety of MCUs and sensors, making it easy to get started with new hardware. With many IoT platforms the ease and simplicity of use is diluted by adding complex and intricate features that are rarely used, but the Goliath team look to be focused directly on servicing the User.

They are stepping outside the norm by not building around an MQTT service but CoAP which could help set them apart from the pack with certain use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The training was provided without cost. This allowed me the opportunity to both learn about the subject matter and to learn about Golioth as a potential training supplier for future projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It isn't so much a dislike about Golioth as an issue of training in interesting topics that are not part of current projects. As with any training, use it or lose it. It has now been a few weeks (possibly a month or two) so some of the details about the training and subject matter are a little fuzy. Golioth is a great IoT platform!

In addition to the possibility of storing telemetry data and properties of a device in the cloud or being able to retrieve them from the cloud, it also offers the possibility of OTA updates. The platform makes managing and rolling out firmware updates very easy. I haven't often found it so easy.

Recording the logs of the devices in the cloud makes quick troubleshooting very easy and can thus also increase end customer satisfaction if specific help can be provided.

The Firmware SDK offers all possibilities so that prototypes are connected to the cloud in a few minutes.

Among other things, the REST interface makes it easy to manage the devices and data even without the website.

The possibility of integration into the existing cloud infrastructure, e.g. with the Azure Event Hub, is great and the possibility of using webhooks means that other existing infrastructure can also be easily connected. Golioth fits in seamlessly there.

The many examples and documentation help you get started.

What I also like is that up to 50 devices can be registered for the dev subscription, which is free. Therefore, extensive testing was easy, even with a small fleet of devices, and nothing stood in the way of simply testing the Golioth cloud platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

On the negative side, it does take a bit of a learning curve to get used to the platform since so much can be done there.

However, the documentation, blog posts, the many examples and also on the Discord server help a lot.
