Gmass is the BEST mail merge tool we’ve ever worked with. It’s a simple Gmail plugin that works directly with the Gmail interface. No limits (other than the regular Gmail limits), the ability to schedule emails, limit the number of daily emails, and more. We LOVE it!

**What do you dislike about GMass?**

There’s a learning curve

The interface is simple, but it does take a few days to fully grasp how to use Sheets, merge tags, and campaign scheduling. Thankfully, the GMass blog and help docs are solid. Once you’re in the flow, it’s second nature.

It’s not the cheapest option

At $25/month, GMass might seem expensive compared to some email tools. But considering the features, flexibility, and Gmail-native experience, it more than pays for itself. Especially when you factor in saved time and increased deliverability.

Test your emails first

Always add yourself to the Sheet and run a real test. Occasionally, merge fields don’t populate as expected…not often, but often enough that you’ll be glad you checked. It’s a quick fix that avoids awkward sends.

The Gmail integration stands out. Connecting my account and launching a campaign took minutes, with no separate platform to learn. Campaign setup for both one-off sends and follow-up sequences is straightforward, and the reporting gives me a clear read on open rates and engagement without exporting anything. As a sole Researcher running interview recruitment, that combination of speed and visibility matters more than feature depth.

**What do you dislike about GMass?**

Honestly, not much within my use case. Coming from Intercom Series at a previous role, I miss some of the more sophisticated branching logic for sequences but that's a fair trade for a tool that costs a fraction of the price and runs inside Gmail.

**What problems is GMass solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I run interview recruitment campaigns for qualitative research, typically reaching out to specific customer segments with a personalised invitation and one or two follow-ups. GMass lets me launch these in under an hour, track who's opened and replied, and avoid the overhead of a full marketing automation platform. For a sole Researcher, it's the right tool at the right level of complexity.

**What do you like best about GMass?**

I use GMass for mail merging and tracking email opens and link clicks. It helps me with marketing and PR campaigns where I need to send multiple emails at once to my audiences. I love that it integrates with Gmail so I never have to leave my inbox. GMass is great because of its ability to personalize all of your emails in the same mail merge. It also integrates with Google Sheets and with uploaded Excel documents so I can add lists all at once. I also like that I am able to track how many people opened my campaign, how many clicked the links, and it allows me to do automated follow-ups. It helps because I never have to leave the inbox.

**What do you dislike about GMass?**

I think that you have to choose a certain plan in order to be able to send a certain amount of bulk emails.

**What problems is GMass solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have prior experience with Gmass, and I must say this is the best and most cost-effective email marketing solution I’ve found. It has almost everything you need: personalized email sending, follow-ups, auto-replies, and sequence replies. I used it at my client’s company, and now I’m starting to use it for my own company as well. I was on the free version before, but I’ve now taken the paid individual version to start email marketing properly.

That said, I still suggest you don’t send lots of emails right from the beginning, even though it has all the features. No matter which email tool on earth you use, if you don’t start with warm-up and email validation before sending, you’ll ruin your email score. My suggestion is to start with 50 emails daily in the first week and then gradually increase the volume. You’ll see the results.

Also, make sure you check the reports. Gmass provides detailed reporting on opens, clicks, bounces, and bounce reasons. Analyze everything and improve from there. I’m sharing this because I got success this way at my client’s company, and I plan to follow the same approach again.

I definitely love the personalization and the mail merge with Google Sheets because I work a lot with Google Sheets. When I make lead lists, they all sit in Google Sheets, and it's just easier because my volume is not low enough for manual sending, but it's not so high that I need a CRM outside of Google Sheets. The integration with GMass works really well with whatever notes I have in Google Sheets to personalize emails, and it works seamlessly with my Gmail in the Google Workspace. I don't need an additional tool like HubSpot or Salesforce. Those would be like a rocket ship for what I need, which isn't necessary. The initial setup was super easy, and I found the installation and integration with the rest of the data in my workspace to be very simple, easy, and powerful, which I really love.

**What do you dislike about GMass?**

The initial onboarding for GMass is not super easy. I wish there was an onboarding wizard since it wasn't there, and I had to figure it out myself on YouTube. The instructions for onboarding and how to fix issues when something goes wrong aren't clear. I had to Google how to send manual follow-ups after deleting tabs in Google Sheets, which caused errors in GMass.

I use GMass for email merge and it solved my BCC mailing problem, making my emails look more professional. It's very simple to send an email without any hassle and the learning curve is minimal. I like that I can just add email addresses to my Excel or Google Spreadsheet and I'm good to go. Also, GMass provides an analysis of the emails sent and the initial setup was very easy. I love how easy and fast GMass is to set up. I was able to get my first personalized outreach campaign running within minutes. The customization options are great, and it integrates smoothly with Gmail so there is nothing new to learn and everything just works. There is not much I dislike so far. The interface can feel a little dense at first because there are many features, but once you understand where everything is, it becomes much easier to use. A bit more built-in guidance for new users would be helpful, but it has not slowed me down.

**What do you like best about GMass?**

I like GMass for its ease of use and the extra features it offers. It's great to have features like tracking opens, replies, and bounces that I wouldn't get without the tool. I find the reports from GMass particularly valuable because they provide insights that I wouldn't otherwise have, like knowing if someone opened an email or clicked on a link. Setting up GMass was fairly easy too.

**What do you dislike about GMass?**

It's a little dated and clunky. They also only offer nonprofit discounts for emails ended in .edu or .org which is not my 501c3 nonprofit organization.

GMass allows me to merge in Gmail and track email opens, replies, and clicks easily, which helps in personalizing nonprofit emails.

I like how easy GMass is to use once you figure it out. The setup was very simple and easy to understand, plus they have lots of videos to show how to use the app. Sending mass emails with individual attachments is made manageable, allowing me to send individual attachments to hundreds of people in a short amount of time.

**What do you dislike about GMass?**

The videos and explanations could have had more information, like how to set up spreadsheets and what not to include in them. I had information in my spreadsheet that I wasn't using in the email, and it would have been good for the video to tell you to take out any unnecessary information. Also, I had issues with adding links from Google Drive into the Attachment column because multiple links would copy into one cell instead of one link per cell. I ended up having to manually copy and paste 827 links into their individual cells.

I use GMass for sending mass emails with individual attachments, allowing me to send to hundreds of people quickly.

Setting up a schedule send is not quite as straightforward as I thought it would be.  Once I added a date and times, I could not easily tell if it was scheduled or there was another step.  The like of simple confirmation stressed me.

I think GMass needs to optimize its sending limit. It's like if you have clean data, the limit hits at 2000, but now it is 500 or something.
