WAF configuration is well integrated and highly customizable. We use it regularly for the brand website of our organization and we have never faced any down time from Akamai. The customer support is quite quick to jump in and resolve any issue including the critical ones. Good documentation makes it easy to integrate with backend application and enables quicker implementation timeline. The application is overall easy to use for a new-comer as well. **What do you dislike about Akamai Global Traffic Management?** One of the factors to improve would be to allow logging of each request rather than only those which flagged the WAF. This will enable the monitoring team to analyze the traffic better and implement the policies much more efficiently. **What problems is Akamai Global Traffic Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** Currently we use it as a layer over a web application to reduce primary server load and provide quicker responses to the end user. Being an ecommerce enabled organization, user experience plays a very important role for our website. For this, the response time reduction is of prime importance and CDN plays a major role here. WAF rule configuration helps in avoiding unwanted traffic and securing the application. The monitoring section provides valuable insights about the users and performance which help in implementing correct policies for traffic management. ### 2. Safe and secure but expensive **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Richie Y. | Financial advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2022 **What do you like best about Akamai Global Traffic Management?** great services and secure networking solutions. it was great for work-from-home opportunities as it kept data and files secure. when things were headed to a different type of workforce, this gave us peace of mind to insure all data was secure from outside threats. Their DDos protection for our website also worked very well. it kept our site safe from outside threats as well and it made it easy for us to keep our site up. many time we were faced with threats from our other partners but they are definitely the better choice. Also, the benefit for us was the experience they had working with the financial security industry. this made it easy for us discuss options and plans as they already knew what we needed and understood our industry enough for us to gain confidence in their company. they worked with some major names in the industry, hence, we were more directed to go in their direction **What do you dislike about Akamai Global Traffic Management?** the price was very expensive. we ended up ending our contract with them as the prices were hard to keep up with for a small company. there is some downtime but that could have been based on many other factors as well so I can't complain much about the company is at fault for that. Also, some issues with getting in contact with their customer support/IT support channels. wait times can exceed over 30 minutes and it would take an hour or 2 at least just to get something rectified. if you are in immediate need or assistance, this is a downside i would have to strongly inform you of. at the end of the day, there are more advantages vs disadvantages with global traffic management. i recommend giving them a try to judge for yourself. **Recommendations to others considering Akamai Global Traffic Management:** if you have the budget to keep up with the plans, then i highly recommend using them. the overall experience is worth it but as a small business, we could not justify using them any longer . i do still find that their networking and securty it top-notch vs other companies we have tried. **What problems is Akamai Global Traffic Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** there were no real issues. the only things were cost and when we tried to negotiate the pricing, it was clear they were hard on keeping it the way it was. we ended up having to switch providers in order to keep our budget low. if you have the extra funds to keep up with the payments, I would still recommend using this company as it definitely is on the better side in terms of security and features. However, do not the negative in terms of getting support from a live person. Again, try for yourself to get a better idea of their services and the plan it doesn't hurt to give it a shot. ### 3.
