Glide has been a game changer for me, not because I come from an IT background (I don’t), but because it allows someone like me to build real, functional apps without needing to code.

I first came across Glide while searching for a tool that could help make our internal workflows more efficient. I tried several platforms, but most of them were either too expensive, too complex, or just didn’t offer the flexibility I needed. Glide stood out with its clean interface, easy-to-follow structure, and strong customization options. All built around something as familiar as a spreadsheet.

Initially, I used it to digitize our recruitment process during the pandemic. What used to involve paperwork, transport, and manual checking became much simpler and paperless. But that was just the beginning. Now, we’re also using Glide for:

*A Car Monitoring System to keep track of company vehicles

*An Inspection Tracker for the Palm Oil Mill, which helps record findings and follow-ups more easily

*Health Clinic Administration to support day-to-day operations of our company’s internal clinic, etc

All these apps are now live and in use. They’ve saved time, reduced paperwork, cut transport and logistic costs, and made monitoring much easier—everything now runs more automatically.

I didn't have a time to always on updating the applications so while overall performance has been reliable, I hope future updates are carefully rolled out so they don’t unexpectedly affect apps that are already running smoothly, especially for users like me who use them daily. The drawbacks of Glide that must be addressed include the limited ability for developers or users to expand table row quotas beyond the current maximum of 25K to 50K rows per app. Moreover, there is a necessity for more adaptable access to API functionalities regardless of the subscription plan. The platform allows us to create and deploy real world applications quickly. The applications look great and seem to be limited only by our imagination. I also develop code via programming languages. It would be nice if Glide made it easier to merge new development into production applications. I am a Business Analyst and not a developer at all, I was therefore looking for a No Code Dev tool and ChatGPT suggested me Glide Apps. I would say thats a very good advice from ChatGPT. What I appreciate most about Glide is how it empowers people without an IT background, like myself, to understand and manage data with confidence. I have been following Glide since 2020, and their ability to keep up with technological advancements is truly impressive. One area where I see room for improvement is making Glide apps feel even more like native apps. I understand this is a significant challenge, but features such as push notifications and real-time location tracking would help the platform evolve rapidly. Additionally, app loading speed can sometimes be affected by server distance and internet connection quality. For users in Indonesia like myself, I believe there is potential to optimize the experience further so that apps open in under five seconds. Another limitation is the row limit on regular Glide tables, which is currently 25,000 rows, and there are still some restrictions on Glide Big Tables as well. This can be a bottleneck, especially when building applications that require handling a large volume of financial transactions. I stumbled upon Glide by mistake on 24 Nov 2024, and with Glide's easy and intuitive platform, I quickly was able to build complex apps without having to learn a whole language. Glide is such a powerful platform and with the help of the Glide community and University, things just started to flow. I really believe that Glide is the next COBOL,Turbo Pascal, C#, or by whatever name it goes by now. No need to learn code, just jump on and Glide. After only 8 months, i found it very easy to build and implement even complex apps. Even though I only use Glide to hopefully build a stable side hustle, I use it daily to build even more complex app. Glide also makes it so easy to publish, deploy and integrate various features and other sources to my apps.
