I have found that the FireWall built into the Max OS has been the best and it is free. This comes in at a close second though. It’s possible for bigger companies that it would worth the cost. The implementation time is amazingly short, the ability to customize the basic features is straightforward, and the "Ask To Connect" portion of the Firewall is amazing. What do you dislike about GlassWire Firewall? Glasswire likes to "push" it's new updates through annoying pop-ups. I was recommended to GlassWire through popular YouTuber "Barnacules Nerdgasm" aka Jerry Berg who is a computer expert who has previously worked as a programmer and technician at Microsoft for 15 years. He is no joke when it comes to network security, so his seal of approval of GlassWire sold me to get the software. I have been more than happy with the software and it's detailed network analytics. The very instant a program accesses my network I get a notification which is great. I can also block said program from my network right from GlassWire's built in Firewall. The detailed activity graph is also very useful to see how much data is being used across the network and it shows how much data all open apps are using through GlassWire's Usage tab. GlassWire's "Lock Down Mode" also allows you to block all network connectivity. This is useful if you must leave your computer on while you are away from your computer. This stops viruses and even unwanted people, if they so happen to access your computer, from using your network. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about GlassWire Firewall? No ability to stop threats within GlassWire. But any PC expert knows to have dedicated anti-virus software. Instead of shelling out loads of money on Malwarebytes (it's now subscription based instead of one time fee) I can primarily use GlassWire for threat and network activity detection. It is easy to use, it is intuitive, and warns you of your network activity graphically. I did not know this software until a client asked me to check it out, because he was concerned with his network usage, So I tried it, it helped me solved a problem I had with my internet connection going slow. Checking the network activity I found I had the infamous TenCent software installed, some how it bypassed my firewall, antimalware and antivirus. After I eliminated it everything went back to normal. It is a little heavy on memory, Within the program you will be able to detect and/or identify suspicious activity, unfortunately you do not have the option of eliminate the threat ant stop it but not eliminate it. This relatively new network traffic monitoring software does a very good job monitoring your network activity. I've been using it since the stable beta stages and it is now my favorite network monitoring app. The user interface is clean and clear with a modern look and feel to it. It does not abuse popup-messages and all the information it provides is unobtrusive and easy to follow or act on. Very easy to view the traffic and block it if needed You get per-app control and network usage information Notification when an installed software version changes. May not be suited for a beginner user who wants a set-it and forget-it application. It may be a little too demanding on computer resources, if you are using a low spec machine. Cannot export logs, only view the activity in the app interface New devices detection only available on paid version.
