Creation of merge requests are good. Also has seamless integration with Pipelines. Still not competitive with bitbucket or github **What do you dislike about GitLab?** Code reviews are tedious tadks here. Doesn't have filetype baded filtering. Also the code review pane is over kill. Even branch deletion fails sometimes for private clouds **What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is an Source Code Management tool. Which is a git client. And support all git functionality. It helps managing source code. Also have jenkins pipelines setup that eases the pipeline prosess. ### 2. It also allows local repositories instead of the cloud. ### 3. We can create more branches for the single repository. **What do you dislike about GitLab?** There is no dislike and cons in the GitLab repository. **Recommendations to others considering GitLab:** It is the most accessible tool for code review and maintenance. **What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?** I solved the code maintenance with version specific. So we can quickly switch to the previous versions. ### 4. Gitlab needs a lot of improvement **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2021 **What do you like best about GitLab?** The only thing I can say I like is the logo, the functionality not so much. **What do you dislike about GitLab?** I'm not too fond of anything on Gitlab, but the one that gets me the most is the fact that there's no auto-refresh when I push another commit while opening an MR. Also, I hate that they're called Merge Requests. **What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using Gitlab as a repository manager. It's better than BitBucket but doesn't come close to Github. ### 5. Self service git platform, when you have any problem there is o way to get real support, even being interested in premium version no-one contact us back. **Recommendations to others considering GitLab:** Make sure you can afford the premium version and make sure you are able to have an administrator who can solve every single problem that can happen because support is very limited. **What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?** Code version control, where to store our code and how to manage workflows across different teams. ### 6. Gitlab the past **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2019 **What do you like best about GitLab?** Gitlab grants you a total control over their project, Gitlab is also very simple and very easy to use, There is a tutorial in Gitlab with is one of the best tutorials I saw, **What do you dislike about GitLab?** Gitlab support is not very well the response time is quite long and the support itself is not very professional, The site design is simple but maby pepole complained that they have many problrms finding things on their site. **Recommendations to others considering GitLab:** I would recommend to specific people only as GitHub is better by far than Gitlab. **What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Gitlab for most of my development ### 7. The actual GUI is actually prettier too which is nice. Navigating to certain pages is a little easier too. Obviously, having version control for software development should be a requirement, and it's better than SVN which some of our...more senior colleagues use. Searching for specific code/scripts on gitlab appears to be easier. **What do you dislike about GitLab?** In our integration, we lack several features available on other git clients such as github. The inline rendering of notebooks on Github, as well as the much simpler ability to share with external users is a huge plus for getting feedback and usage information. Also no trending repos to see any cool new ideas people have come up with is a minus. Furthermore, the ease of linking issues/repos/pull requests across other posts is less clear. **Recommendations to others considering GitLab:** GitHub offers more features and a much larger base for collaboration. If you need a very specific instance/implementation of git that's more customizable, my understanding is that GitLab may be for you. Probably more useful for confidential code bases. **What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?** The obvious one- having version controlled software visible to the entire team. Moreso, having the ability to collaborate over large codebases while having wikis and other documentation in the same place, making it easy to figure out how to use other user's software. Lastly, the ability to see WHEN code is updated helps us ensure goals are being met. ### 8.
