"Clean, Intuitive Docs That Sync Smoothly with Our Git Workflow"

4/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

GitBook has made maintaining our technical documentation much cleaner and more organized compared to scattered files or wikis. The editing interface is clean and intuitive for both technical and non-technical team members to contribute without a learning curve, and structuring content into organized sections has kept documentation navigable as it's grown. Integration with our Git-based workflow lets documentation updates sync naturally alongside code changes, which fits well into how our team already works. Performance is fast, with search returning relevant results instantly even across a growing set of pages, and publishing changes happens without noticeable delay. Pricing has offered solid ROI given how much time it's saved compared to maintaining documentation manually across scattered files, and onboarding new contributors took very little effort since the interface is self-explanatory. While GitBook doesn't have deep native AI features, the built-in AI-assisted search has occasionally helped surface relevant documentation faster than manual browsing would have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

Some of the more advanced formatting or custom layout options feel limited compared to more flexible documentation tools, which occasionally requires workarounds for specific formatting needs. Managing permissions across different teams took some initial configuration to get right, especially when balancing internal versus externally shared documentation. Pricing for higher-tier plans with more advanced collaboration features can add up as the team and documentation needs grow. The AI-assisted search, while helpful, doesn't always surface the most relevant page for more nuanced or ambiguous queries, occasionally requiring a manual scan through search results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

GitBook has solved the problem of scattered, hard-to-maintain documentation by giving us a single, organized place for technical specs, integration notes, and process documentation. This has made onboarding new team members faster and kept documentation in sync with our actual codebase, since updates fit naturally into our existing Git-based workflow instead of living disconnected from the code they describe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clean, Intuitive Documentation with Smooth Collaboration"

4/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

GitBook has a clean and intuitive interface that makes creating and organizing documentation straightforward. I like how easy it is to structure pages, manage content, and publish documentation from a single place. Navigation is simple, the editor is responsive, and collaboration features make it convenient to keep documentation organized and accessible for the team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

GitBook is easy to use overall, but some advanced customization and collaboration features are only available in the paid plans. It can also take some time to learn how to organize larger documentation projects efficiently. I'd also like to see more flexibility in page layouts and formatting options without relying on additional integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

GitBook helps keep documentation organized in one place instead of having information scattered across different documents or chats. It makes it easier to create, update, and share documentation with team members, so everyone can access the latest information. This has improved collaboration, reduced time spent searching for documentation, and made knowledge sharing more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

4/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

I like how easy GitBook is to use for creating and organizing documentation. The interface feels clean and intuitive, the search works well, and sharing documentation with teammates is straightforward. It also supports Markdown, which makes writing, editing, and keeping content up to date quick and convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

One thing I dislike about GitBook is that some of the more advanced settings and customization options aren’t very intuitive at first. It took me a bit of time to get familiar with where everything is and how it works, but once I did, the overall experience felt smooth and easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

GitBook helps me keep documentation organized in one place, which makes it much easier to find and update information. It cuts down the time I spend searching through different files, and it also improves collaboration by ensuring everyone has access to the most up-to-date documentation. "GitBook Makes Documentation Easy to Organize, Search, and Collaborate"

4/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

GitBook makes it easy to organize and share documentation in one place. We use it to maintain program guides, internal processes, and onboarding materials, and the clean interface makes it simple for team members to find the information they need. Collaboration, version history, and search functionality help keep documentation up to date without much effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

GitBook is straightforward for day-to-day documentation, but some advanced customization and formatting options can feel limited. Managing permissions and organizing a large number of pages also takes some planning, and certain collaboration and branding features are only available on higher-tier plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

GitBook helps us centralize documentation that was previously scattered across emails, shared drives, and individual documents. By keeping procedures, program guidelines, onboarding materials, and project documentation in one searchable place, our team spends less time looking for information and more time delivering programs. It has also improved consistency by ensuring everyone works from the latest version of our documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It solves the problem of scattered information by making everything accessible in one place, allowing me to find anything without wasting time. I like that it's easy to use and organize, making updating documents simple and finding things a breeze. I value the search function, which is easy and great, as well as the page organization and the editor. The initial setup of GitBook was straightforward, and we were able to start things quickly. "Not to be dramatic, but this documentation setup is everything"

4/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

I really like how clean and intuitive the Markdown editor feels. It makes it incredibly easy to organize team documentation, API references, and personal project notes into well-structured spaces. The git-like version control is also fantastic, especially for reviewing documentation changes and updates before they go live. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

The search functionality within large spaces can occasionally be a bit slow or miss specific keywords if they aren't exact matches. Also, I wish there were a few more built-in fonts or deeper styling customization options for the public-facing pages without needing a premium plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

It solves the issue of scattered team knowledge. Instead of having notes spread across various Google Docs or local files, GitBook gives us a single, centralized source of truth. It has saved our team a lot of onboarding time because new members can easily find everything they need in one organized place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clean Documentation but Clunky Collaboration"

3.5/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

I like that GitBook provides clean, professional documentation, which makes it easy for readers to go through. I also appreciate the version history feature. Additionally, GitBook was fairly easy to navigate, with a clean structure and easy navigation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

GitBook was really clunky when it came to collaborating simultaneously on something. It didn't work very well with multiple people at the same time, which was kind of frustrating. While one person working on it was no problem, it could get a little frustrating with two or more people at the same time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use GitBook for our internal documentation, and it provides clean, professional-looking documentation that's easy for readers to navigate. We aimed to centralize our policies and procedures in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Modern UI and Generous Free Tier, But Some Limitations"

3.5/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

Very modern and beautiful UI, highly competitive features and technology, and very generous free tier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

Would be my first choice however it's not open source and I am very cautious of potential lock-in whether it was intentional by the vendor or not as dependence on a technolgoy that isn't open source may cause issues in the future Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

This documentation tool is straightforward to use, offers an attractive appearance, and comes packed with all the features I need. It manages to be both visually appealing and fully functional without any unnecessary complications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I would like to see the free tier extended a bit further."

4/5

What do you like best about GitBook?

What I liked most about GitBook is its simplicity and user-friendly design. GitBook has made creating documents and documentation incredibly easy. The ability to write content in Markdown format, in particular, makes the editing process smooth and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

Limitations on the Free Plan: One of the notable drawbacks is the relatively strict limitations on the free plan. For larger projects or businesses, the need to upgrade to a paid plan can be a significant cost factor. This could be a concern for smaller projects or those with budget constraints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

GitBook provides a simple design and user-friendly interface, allowing for highly efficient document creation and editing. This enables me to save time and energy, allowing me to focus on other crucial tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
