## Git Tower Reviews
  ### 1. Simplified Git Management with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dhruv P. | Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

I use Git Tower for managing version control and Git workflows. It simplifies complex Git operations with an intuitive visual interface. The clean user interface and visual representation of branches and commits are great, making the learning curve minimal and Git more accessible for team members. The staging area is intuitive and the search functionality makes navigating repositories easy. The integration with various Git hosting services like GitHub and GitLab is convenient and works seamlessly, eliminating context switching and speeding up the workflow. The stash and cherry-pick features work well. Git Tower also helps me understand project structure quickly with its branch visualization, improving productivity and reducing errors in version control operations. The initial setup was straightforward and the configuration is intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

I find Git Tower solid overall, but I believe there are areas for improvement. I think the performance could be faster when handling very large repositories. I feel more customization options for keyboard shortcuts would be helpful, and I would appreciate more comprehensive documentation for advanced features. I've also noticed occasional UI responsiveness issues with complex workflows.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Git Tower to manage version control and workflows. It simplifies complex Git tasks, organizes repository history, and reduces errors. Its visual interface lowers the learning curve for new users, enhances productivity, and speeds up workflow with seamless Git hosting integrations.

  ### 2. “A Reliable and Intuitive Git Client for Streamlined Version Control”

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manan B. | Innovation Trainee ( AI developer ), Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

Git Tower provides a clean and intuitive interface for managing repositories without constantly relying on the command line. I really like how it simplifies complex Git operations — like rebasing, resolving conflicts, and branching — into clear visual actions. The integration with GitHub, Bitbucket, and GitLab works seamlessly, and the commit history view makes tracking changes much easier. It’s a huge productivity boost, especially for managing multiple projects efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

There’s not much to dislike, but sometimes it slows down with really large repos. The pricing can be a little steep for solo users, and I wish there were more customization options for diff and merge views. Still, those are minor things compared to how much smoother it makes version control.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Git Tower saves me from dealing with complex Git commands in the terminal. It turns version control into a visual process — from committing and branching to resolving merge conflicts. This makes it easier to manage multiple projects and collaborate with teammates without errors. It’s especially helpful when reviewing history or rolling back changes, which used to take much longer manually. Overall, it’s made my workflow faster, cleaner, and more reliable.

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for the kind words, Manan! We're glad to hear that Tower has improved your workflow and that you appreciate its simplicity and visual aids ✌️

  ### 3. Intuitive git GUI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

While it's important to know git command line basics, having a good GUI to visually see your working directory and changes is valuable to me.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

If you're not an organization that qualifies for a discount, you might find the yearly subscription hard to swallow, especially when there are other comparable options out there without cost.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some may say command-line git isn't that difficult, but sometimes it's nice to have a visual GUI representation of what you're working on. Tower provides an intuitive interface for git that makes it easy to see what you're working on, inspect your commit history in a graph, and do a lot of general git things that make it a pleasure to use. It even handles some more advanced git things relatively well, but for complex git commands, you'll want to use the command line.

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for your review! We're glad that you appreciate Tower's intuitive and clean UI 🥳
We would appreciate it if you could let us know which advanced Git operations you still rely on using the CLI for (support@git-tower.com)!

  ### 4. Git Tower - UI for Git

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Priyanshu K. | Software Engineer (Android), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

Git tower provides UI for version controlling the code. Merge conflicts can be easily solved via a virtual wizard. Repositories can be cloned in a single click and operations like cherry-picking can be easily done with its help.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

The thing I dislike about GitTower is its pricing as I believe its pricing is on a bit higher side. Also, one improvement I can suggest is that there can be a filter basically with the help of which one can go directly to dates to see the commit history of that date.

**Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:**

I will recommend developers, especially those who are working on iOS development to give Git Tower a try as there is no tool which visualises Git as easily as Git Tower does and has all the features that are required for a day to day life of a developer.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Writing git commands can be a real pain if you use git almost daily and frequently. With the help of Git Tower, we are operating git via a User-Interface and doing all the version controlling with the help of drags and drops and single clicks. The benefit I have realised is that it makes developers' life easy to compare and push code.

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for your review, Priyanshu!

Regarding your feature suggestion, which we appreciate: this has already been implemented.

Please go to the "History" view and on the top right corner, start typing a date and run the search. You can then define if this is yours "Since" or "Until" date. To get the commits added on that day, you can then tweak the filter, setting it as a "Date is in range" with the same end date.

I hope this makes sense! Please contact us at support@git-tower.com if it doesn't.

  ### 5. One of the best tools to manage Git repositories on Mac

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

I like how easy it is to manage the repositories, branches, etc. I can create a branch, commit code, revert commits, undo deleting branches, etc. I don't have to remember the complex git commands like reflog. I can also manage multiple repos under my organization.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

It is not easy to manage merge conflicts. It is hard to manage PR standards, like having a standard for commit messages and PR templates. The UI design is also not sleek (maybe my personal opinion).

**Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:**

You can definitely consider it.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manage code, commits, daily code tasks. The UI makes it easy to push code and improve productivity. I don't have to remember complex git commands and using this is improving my productivity

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for your recommendation! We're glad to have you with us! 🥳

  ### 6. Utilizing Git capabilities on a MAC seamlessly

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Swati R. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

- When our team switched to MAC laptops , we worked on getting the tools friendly with MAC.
-One of those tools was Git tower which we use in integration with Gitlab.
- Git tower has been giving us the best experience by providing us the client which is intuitive , has a good intellisense and gives undo feature.
- It also has a great UI with which we can manage our gitlab repos easily.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

- Sometimes, the pre-commit check fails, and then we need to go back to command-line utility.
- A --no-verify option would be helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:**

Do lookout for GIT Tower to avoid the hassles of using GIT Clients.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- The opaqueness of the GIT command-line is not a problem anymore.
- The Git CLI works well with windows systems but has glitches in MAC.Switching to GIT Tower has resolved it.
- Being the admin of Git in my org, I can work on multiple groups and repos simultaneously using GIT Tower.
- Tracking the changes & watching GIT pipeline progress has become easier.

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for your feedback, Swati! We plan to implement the --no-verify option soon.

  ### 7. Perfect tool for github collaboration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

Best part is that we have option to run our Git command through git tower ui and it helps to resolve merge conflict and commit history.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

There is no proper place to see latest release and product onboarding

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping to run git command easily , we don't need to remember command

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for your review!

  ### 8. Too much options in a single page

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aakash P. | Member Of Technical Staff - Development, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

I personally like the User interface of the website. The best thing is the colours. The way in which all the colours were used denotes the proper path. The way branches are visible is also very good.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

The webpage is comprised of too much information on a single page. The way you merge a branch, pull a request and every cherry-pick a commit is something that is not properly explainable. I prefer to have some different pages to do all these kind of stuff

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem I am focusing on is User accessibility. If a user is not able to use your app then it is a waste of time and effort as well. By solving the above problem or working on something, the most important benefit you can gain is a lot of user engagement.

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for your feedback, Aakash. You can merge a branch or cherry-pick a commit via drag and drop. Have a look at our Help section (or contact us) if you ever need help with a specific action - https://www.git-tower.com/help/home

  ### 10. Git Tower GUI Review (MacOS Experience)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Enzo C. | Freelance mobile apps developer

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

The UI is very user-friendly and beginner-friendly, yet you can still do much more than Github Desktop or any other Git GUI that I tried yet.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

It's not a free Git GUI, but in my opinion, it's worth the price.

I mostly used it for everyday use, from simple git push, to git rebase and cherry-pick. It has been useful in all kinds of situation.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro G. | UI Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

It's gorgeous to look at. Right away you can tell a lot of effort went into the UI design—and when I'm looking to improve my workflow, this is my #1 priority.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

Nothing major, really. It has a tiny learning curve that you'll get over in less than 30 minutes. It's straightforward and I like that.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used console commands for the longest time as a developer, so I can't say I've used that many GUI clients before. With that being said, Git Tower made the switch worth it, in between its branch logs and easy stashing. It's made my workflow faster, and I can't thank it enough for that.

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

> Thank you for your review, Alejandro! We hope you continue to enjoy using Tower ✌️

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

Tower is very easy to use and has always been my favourite Git GUI client. I found many others to have weird UX concepts, Tower on the other hand, is very straightforward and in my view, built up logically.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

It's a bit expensive, especially because you need to renew each year. But as long as the quality stays excellent, I'm more than happy to keep paying that amount.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need an easy way to see the code changes visually and be able to push & handle merge conflicts. Tower allows me to do that perfectly.

**Official Response from Bruno Brito:**

  ### 19. Git tower user review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saiful I. | Graduate Research Assistant, Machine Intelligence, Computer Vision & 3D Lab, IUPUI., Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

For version control, everybody is thinking about Git these days. But some chatter on the street is not enough to justify switching to Git. Here are some hard facts that make Git great. I am explaining all the good reasons here:
Work Offline, Undo Mistakes, Sleep Easy, Make Useful Commits, Work in Your Own Way, Don’t Mix Things Up, Go With the Flow.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

Git is the source code version control system that is rapidly becoming the standard for open source projects. What a pity that it’s so hard to learn, has such an unpleasant command line interface, and treats its users with such utter contempt.
Complex information model, Crazy command line syntax, Crappy documentation, Information model sprawl, Leaky abstraction, Power for the maintainer, at the expense of the contributor, Unsafe version control, Burden of VCS maintenance pushed to contributors.

**Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:**

Although there are dozens of version control systems on the market, some of the world's most renowned projects (like the Linux Kernel, Ruby on Rails, or jQuery) are using Git as their VCS of choice. But It is really nice to use git tower on laptop for version control but you also need to learn the commands. You can also incorporate bash for unix command with it.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i was working on a group project where i need all my partners to take part in and also work from remote places. The project was a research project coding in c++ so we were thinking of using version control application like git tower on computer.

  ### 20. Great tool to implement for all types of development regardless of the language

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

We're mixed shop of Microsoft and Java and then we have multiple platforms Pega, Sitecore, Azure, etc... it works great for all application development. It's a low cost solution and a licensing structure is pretty simple. It's in the cloud.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

Nothing yet, like every tool some configuration type of decisions have to be made up front

**Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:**

It's always good to start with a small pilot and see if it works for your environment. It's a low cost solution and a licensing structure is pretty simple.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One centralized solution for source control and branching

  ### 21. Great Native Mac Git GUI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew M. | Founder, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Git Tower?**

Tower is built as a native Mac application, first and foremost. Unlike other Git GUI software, such as Atlassian's SourceTree, Tower is built exclusively for the Mac-- and it shows. The UI is completely native and feels as such.

Most common Git operations are fairly accessible. As long as you are familiar with how Git operates, you will also be able to use Tower.

Some complex Git operations, such as picking specific lines or chunks to stage, are significantly easier in Tower than in the Git command line tool.

**What do you dislike about Git Tower?**

Submodule support is existent, though your submodules are hidden slightly in their own submenu. Though this isn't really a big problem, it kind of illustrates the issue with *any* Git GUI application, including Tower: it can obscure some of Git's power and hide certain functionality behind menus. This isn't inherent to Tower itself, but to all Git GUI apps.

**What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is much quicker to stage and commit specific changes using Tower than the regular Git command line tool. This speeds up development significantly.
