The favourite part of gimp is that it is free to use and light weight other than any product available in the market. It works on light machines seemlessly which makes it exceptional. The thing I like best about GIMP is that it is free. I found the interface and the ease of using certain tools is not as intuitive as Photoshop, Luminar or Affinity. It is probably the best option that is Open Source and Free. It has a large amount of features for an open source option, but using them is not as easy as paid options. It could just be me. I find it less intuitive, I find that there is a lot that a program like Affinity, Photoshop or Luminar do for me that I actually have to do for myself and have to know how to do. GIMP can be a powerful digital creativity tool if you really want to learn to use the tool to its highest capability. There are a few things I do with softwares like this and my workflow is pretty Adobe specific. Interfaces like Affinity and Luminar copy Adobe pretty comparably so it's easier for me to use them. Everything is there, but in different places and it all work s a little differently where the other tools make up for your mistakes, where there's less margin for error in GIMP. I love that GIMP offers a wide variety of tools and features that make the software very complete and effective, it is very useful for Digital Art, It's funcionalty exceeded my expectations. The software is easy to install, friendly to use, and offers tutorials as well. I use it almost every day for my 2D abstract works of art, and I am fascinated by it's features. The software can open files from other photo editing software, and that is very useful. I dont have any bad feedback about this software, if I were to say something negative, it would be that you can not select many layers at once, but there are other creative strategies that can be used that work great too. Gimp is solving the issue that artists that have to pay a lot of money for digital art softwares, and the other ones that are free or less expensive are not as good as the ones that are more pricy, but GIMP, is the BEST free and open source software, that serves as substitute to the expenisve digital art software. Besides that, I use GIMP to teach digital art, because it is great for teaching due to its many features and because it is free and open source, and most students can not afford to purchase pricy digital art software. It is exactly like photoshop, with very similar features, but costs nothing! I can edit pictures, play with the lighting, colors, effects and create posters for trainings. Might be nice to have a tutorial mode in the beginning to get how everything works, but overall awesome software. I have it on my personal computer to edit pictures, and on my work computer to create posters, signs and publicity for trainings and human resources policies.
