The interface is clean, and they have decent drag and drop functionality in their automations. Customer support is quick (but often provide incorrect information). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about GetResponse? Most email providers, e.g., Active Campaign, MailerLite, etc., have pretty standard automation triggers, such as when a form is completed, a tag is added, etc. In GetResponse, Automation triggers are ridiculous. If you set "Tag added" as a trigger, or "Form completed" - pretty standard automation triggers in most email systems, you have to set time intervals related to these that make absolutely no sense. We contacted their help team (who are quite responsive) on multiple occasions, describing how we wanted automations to be triggered, and got different answers every single time. This meant a lot of people didn't receive automated emails they were supposed to get (when tags are added with a purchase). When we changed it to reflect what another support person told us, it incorrectly sent emails out to the thousands of people who had the tag from previously purchasing the item. So the automation triggers work differently to every other email provider and are basically unusable. The API is a deadset disaster as well. You won't find this in their API guide, because it makes absolutely no sense - when adding or removing tags with the API on a subscriber, you have to remove every single tag on a person, and reapply all the ones you want. e.g. I can't just add a tag for a purchase via the API. The website has to remember all the persons tags (say they have 20 tags), remove all 20 tags, and then reapply 21 tags including the new one. Weird, but maybe ok? Nope. Adding tags back to the person then sends the person through every automation that is triggered when a tag is added. After asking support so many times and getting different answers, many customers not getting emails they were supposed to get, and people getting emails they weren't supposed to get, we had to move to another provider (MailerLite - which doesn't have drag and drop functionality in automations, but is much better in every way). We were then 6 month into an annual account, however if you want to cancel your account, that's when you discover that GetResponses policy is outrageously bad, and designed to trick people into letting their account roll over. As soon as you cancel your account, you lose access to your account. Even if you have 6 months left that you've paid for. They won't refund you, and they also won't allow you to access your account. At all. I can't see how it's even legal to deny you the service that you've paid thousands of dollars for. So you then have to remember to cancel before your subscription is due, which it seems they're hoping you forget to do. So stay away from this shambles of a system. Active Campaign was better, but also much more expensive. MailerLite is great, and on par pricewise with GetResponse, without all the weirdness and predatory business practices. Their cancellation terms are weird and not the usual for SAAS. We cancelled our service on 26 May and they wanted us to pay for the month of June, although we didnt send even a single email in June 2022. They are using a fine print clause in T&C saying the cancellation notice period is 1 month. Now they are sending emails threatening court action. Totally unprofessional and uncalled for. Signed up, then realised it was going to be significantly more expensive than my current provider, assumed I'd get a pro rata refund - but no. Immediately customer service are quoting their terms and conditions, it's not really about the money, as soon as a company has a pre packaged response quoting T&C's you know they get this a lot. Get Response does some things well: - Easy landing page design - Easy email design The design is really easy but some functionalities are hidden and you have to contact support to let you know where they are. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about GetResponse? -Contacts import from your previous email management tool is really challenging, almost impossible. If you have more than 50 contacts in your database it will take you ages to import. If one of your contact is blocked at GetResponse backend level (for example a different company sent an email and the person decided to unsubscribe that person will be blocked at the system level). I have a secondary list that I exported from mailchimp. All valid emails. GetResponse is blocking my import because some people in my list are blocked by them. So the right things to do is to tell you which emails are bad. But no Get Response will not share with you this information. So I have to upload one by one my contact. I have 300 contacts so I will do it manually. Get response has a limit of 50 daily contacts even on the paid plans. So it will take me 6 days to upload my list. Right now Get Response is causing more headaches than solving any solutions. Normally you use a marketing automation tool to simplify your life. With Get Response it is the opposite, at least for me. What do you dislike about GetResponse? It feels to me like really overpriced and they keep taking away features from lower plans. I wasn on Basic and HAD automation at the start, but then they removed it from being available on basic - only on some too advanced and expensive plans. I have a mere \<1000 subs and I totally can't agree to that high price just to be able to sort of 'send message if the other message was open'. This is too basic to have it available to everyone. I'm only staying there because I have huge bunch of autoresponders set up which I'd hate to re-creare in another service, but I will leave it anyway. Just too costly for my little base. Price point for the basic plan was great. Easy to use format and straightforward, so it seemed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about GetResponse? When completing a landing page according to their template, using their guidelines and fonts, it had continual issues with buttons and images overlapping each other. Our business invested $75 to run a Facebook Ad on what we thought would be a properly vetted Beta tester version. It is not ready. There was no ability to download our free offer, due to buttons overlapping. During live chats, we were told, we should clarify to clients to "Open using Google Chrome" (You should never preface an ad with that sort of statement) "Use our recommended fonts" (did that) among other minor adjustments, all which were followed. After several attempts, no refund was allowed for the botched ad and only a 10% discount on further subscription plans was provided. They stated that the Facebook Beta was a work in progress and all our issues would be used to greatly move the company forward in strides to provide the best version possible for future Facebook ad updates. What do you dislike about GetResponse? - Deliverability is the worst of the market. - Support takes days to answer, and sometimes only if you insist several times. - They deleted your database contacts, saying that those addresses didn't exist, and I had to prove to them that they did. I can only imagine how many contacts they deleted without me noticing. - If you export your contacts and you have a decent size list, you'll miss several. They have some advanced features like the ability to run sales webinars through the platform. However, it is very convoluted and difficult to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about GetResponse? I found the platform very disjointed and difficult to navigate. You also need to be very careful of their cancellation policy. If you cancel it removes your access to your account immediately. So if you want to continue to use the service for the entire time that you have paid for you cannot cancel. However, if you miss canceling before the renewal date, they absolutely will not refund you. They also do not provide notice that they are about to renew your account. Let that be a warning to you of the kind of business they are. Not one you should do business with. Especially since there are many other more reputable and better-featured email marketing providers. Recommendations to others considering GetResponse: GetResponse does work but ultimately I switched providers because of how clunky and difficult it is to use. I would also caution anyone thinking of signing up with GetResponse. They have archaic subscription agreements that are designed to keep you stuck and paying for something you will ultimately not use because it isn't a good product. By emailing your prospects based on certain behaviors the thinking is that you will be able to increase conversions. This is somewhat of an outdated marketing practice.
